I love the LA Zoo!! It s the perfect safari adventure getaway to go to with family and friends any day of the week. Spend your day here watching exquisite animals and reptiles all around the zoo. This place is pretty big so you ll get a lot of walking visiting the animals. Each day they have events going on for animal feeding and other cool stuff that s worth checking out. I d recommend packing a lunch to bring here and lots of water just in case you get hungry. Bring your favorite person here and have so much fun checking out the monkeys!

There are a great many animals to see here. Be prepared to walk a lot.

Ultimately mostly a depressing experience, tbh. The animals are in cramped spacesand have the "on display" feel. If you truly love animals as I do, you may want to skip this entirely. The lion enclosure was especially horrifically depressing.

It was cool to see some animals, sure. But the cost of captivity was not worth it.

My son was excited about seeing a snake and he lived in Africa his entire life. After 25 years in Africa I didnt think I would find it interesting. Not crazy about caged animals but enjoyed watching the somewhat scary chimpanzees. I like the fact they dont mind you bringing your own snacks. Could have more signage on where to find attractions

Took my daughter's girl scout troop, it was the first time for some of them. There were very few animals. The map stated different show time and there was nothing exciting occurring. Not to mention the landscaping to the zoo looked like we were on a desert, but the golf course on the other side of the fence had green grass. We thought that because it was the weekend it would've been more exciting. First time for everything, we'll just stick to the San Diego Zoo.

Attended the LA Zoo lights. It was wonderful. Staff was courteous and the lights were whimsical. Our kids were delighted by all the lights and especially the light show.

(This review is for the LA lights only)

The habitat for the lion's was ridiculously small and the water in the pond/moat was incredibly dirty... the tigers has a bigger habitat but definitely not enough room for them either. And the male lion looked incredibly thin.

It was cold and we weren't dressed properly. And it was windy which made it colder. We did see many animals but several did not make outside appearances. It has been over 20 yrs since or last visit and we saw many great changes. We also got lots of exercise going up and down the hills to the exhibits. We"ll be back when its warmer.

I greatly enjoyed going here with my family. However the cons heavily outweighed the pros of the trip, which we of course did not let that hinder our day as a family.

Cons- 1)There are no warning signs of the infestation of bees and yellow jackets which my wife is highly allergic to, and has yet to be determined if our children are as well. We could not stop without having several bees landing on all of us. We had to constantly keep moving, which is not very convenient since the entire zoo is on a slope.
2)There were several work trucks for 21st Century Fox along with tons of people on the filming crew blocking areas for filming, leading us to constantly detour throughout the entire day. THESE WERE THINGS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AT THE TICKET GATE!!!

3) The guard rails have a lot of bushes and decor blocking the kids from being able to see the animals, you will be picking them up at nearly every spot so they can see the animals. I have 3 boys (a 3 y/o and twin 1 y/o's) The twins spent most of their time in the stroller since it was next to impossible to constantly pick all three up to see at every stop. Luckily they were content with just being outside.

You will be using a lot of foot work on your trip so use some good shoes, because it is not a sandal friendly environment.

Pros- Food was decent and not too expensive( $18 for 2 slices of pizza and 2 salads, no drinks). We were allowed to bring our own snacks and drinks. PARKING WAS FREE!!!!

World-class zoo, owned by the City of Los Angeles, on beautiful, large (54 ha) park grounds. Open daily from 10AM to 5PM. Admission price per adult: $22; senior: $19; child 2 to 12: $17.

Good exercise as the exhibits are spaced apart fairly far from each other. Wish some exhibits were closer to the front of the zoo. Giraffes and otters seem like the happiest animals. Don't go if you're most interested in seeing lions. The lions need more space to roam and are sleeping on 95% of our visits.

We arrived with 2 classroom field trip & found Ryan Corbet at the seal exhibit & we we're blessed that he gave us a tour! It was a fantastic day overall: Ryan was incredibly engaging and every exhibit we visited had animals being active and the kids had a real good time seeing everything! Ryan made the trip worthwhile!!! He gave us so much information, the children weren't the only ones learning. Thank you so very much for the great updates to the zoo and a fantastic extra special thank you to Ryan, you made the visit the best!

Zoos are awful. I saw several upset and depressed animals. One just kept pacing. The enclosures are very small. Idk how the elephants don't commit suicide. For reals. Bathrooms were clean though.
