I m very surprised by low reviews La Zoo Lights. It is family and holiday event after all. Getting there around 6 pm, we had plEnty of parking. Line was huge but it stafter moving very quickly. Take stroller with kids and it would solve lots of issues. We spent there over 3 hours and everyone from 3 to 60 year old enjoyed it. Splash show, lights tunnel, carousel for kids, mule cocktail for wife, churos and holiday music - it s a must during holiday season!

I found it expensive and very run down, many areas without animals although the giraffes are beautiful. The food is of poor quality and expensive, it is better to bring your own, especially if you are with children or have special requirements. Very good place to walk with children.

The staff sure were friendly and helpful. It was fun but given the current COVID situation, things seem to be running in a limited way. It will definitely be worth returning once COVID ends Godwilling.

Love it!! Great summer fun for kids and a work out for me. Family members pass pay off by the 2nd visit. Take a collapsible wagon if you have little ones under 4 or get the tram pass but you will need patience

I've lived in LA for nearly 15 years and have only recently been to the zoo. It's so much fun and a great place to bring young kids. The food isn't anything to get excited about, so I'd recommend bringing your own snacks. But the animal exhibits are awesome, especially the elephants, there are multiple locations throughout the park to get an awesome view of them.
I'd recommend getting to the zoo as early as possible before it gets too crowded and hot, a lot of the animals like tigers and lions go into the shade and hide when it starts to get hot. But early in the morning, you'll get a great view of them.

Zoo Lights was an awesome experience for all ages. As long as you bundle up for below 50 degree weather everything else is perfect. The are many places for photo opportunities and warm food and beverages for purchase.

Love the zoo. Big open spaces, if one place looks crowded with people go see another animal then return later. Lots of ways to keep safe. Sanitizers everywhere BUT BE CAREFUL WITH THE KIDS EYES. It sprays sanitizer on hand instead of being gel or thicker viscosity. Please be careful it nearly sprayed in my child's eye.

The meerkats were very cute, also here is a picture I have of the hippos making a heart. There is free parking that is easy to find and close to the entrance. It's really hot at the moment, so make sure to drink lots of water!

The very nice place and the very friendly staff, the only thing that I think is missing more open food stores, we arrived hungry and thirsty and we had to walk until we found another one that was open.

best place if you have kids or just want to go for a walk on a weekday afternoon. I don't recommend on the weekend. the weekends are always crowded. if you are a local and want to visit often get the membership for the whole year. you can bring outside snacks or even your own lunch. the zoo does sell beer.

Great, BIG zoo with lots of incredible animals to see! Seriously, this zoo is huge so be prepared to walk a lot (and up hill too). There's a carousel for people to ride, a giraffe feeding that occurs daily and tons and tons of informational talks about individual animals happen around the hour until about 12:30. Lots if places to eat, very expensive so if you're being budget conscience, it's best to pack a backpack of snacks, juices and drinks (yes, they allow this-i highly doubt they allow coolers so check their website or call). Parking is free unless a special event or holiday is happening then prices vary between $10-$20.

Love this place to just hang out. It is not like Huntington library but the feeling this garden gives is more like country / friendly back yard forest/hill kinda feeling. I don't know how to explain well. But it's not too clean x organized like Huntington library is what I love about this place.

Run down, covered in litter, outdated equipment, unintelligible PA system on trams, lazy and indifferent staff, numerous exhibits lay empty and abandoned. What a disappointing zoo. The place has potential, and at least the animals seem well fed. But this zoo needs a change of ownership, badly.

I can't believe the number of positive reviews this place has. Seriously I don't believe it.

Enjoyed the whole zoo with my grand. Upon entrance, we were given a passport for the zoo and a map / guide. The passport challenges you to "explore the zoo and learn about different countries and the animals that live there." As you explore, you have to scratch off the country as you find it and learn about the animals that live there. Once you have at least five countries scratched off, you may get a prize at the Market place gift shop. This is a fun way for youth to learn about various animals and their habitat.

We took the trolley ride around the entire zoo first, then we walked to the various places to explore things. At about 10:10 AM WE SAW THE ELEPHANTS EATING! We also saw an elephant care demonstration. Cool, we saw the chimpanzee s chat, saw a bird show and later even got an opportunity to feed the garaiffs.
There was a tree which looked to have roots at least 25-50 feet long. We climbed up the roots to the trunk of the tree. We stopped at a couple of the gift shops and also the ice cream stand. There was plenty of room for grannies and mom's to sit nearby as we watched the little ones enjoy all the activities. There were several interactive activities, and guides along the various paths. We came across the coolest guide, a mature lady that told us the most interesting things about kangaroos. She even pointed out the youngest kangaroos.
There were face painting activities, characterization artist and even a balloon artist present at the zoo. A really fun place for youth! Highly recommended for those high energy 4-10 year olds.

I've been coming here, since I was a kid, and the zoo is just great. GLAZA does very good work, and the staff at the park are nice. Thank you to the medical teams for the couple of times I had to ask advice for my friend's rescue park in the amazon. They helped out greatly, and it just goes to reinforce their awesomeness. Keep up the great work. GO PLANET!

The zoo is divided up by countries or continents. Asian elephants, Australian kangaroos and koalas etc. It is a little confusing to navigate, with all the twists and turns, but there are maps scattered around the zoo. I have not eaten at any of the restaurants there, so I can't comment on those, but there is a nice playground area with picnic tables to eat at. There are even wild peacocks wandering around.
