My children and I always find something new everytime we visit the zoo. Animals behave differently during their feeding time, nap time, different weather or time of the day we visit. We have learned a lot visiting here!

Plenty of animals to look at! However do keep in mind that you have to do some serious walking in order to see all the animals. I highly recommended going to this zoo. The zoo also has pretty good food options. Different food locations at the zoo serve different types of food. Some locations are close to the front and other are much further back. You have to walk some steep hills to get there. My point is to double check with employees that the location is open before walking all the way to the back for that specific type of food. FYI I did that and was disappointed when I had to walk all the way back to the front to get food.

This is heaven on Earth. I live in the neighborhood and I feel so privileged to have these gardens nearby. It is always a new experience, it never fails to create a sense of awe and contemplation. The subscription is very affordable and the staff is friendly.

The LA Zoo is a great place to bring the family or even just to hang out for a few hours. We're members here and we love having access to special events where they open early for members to enjoy Halloween or special feedings for the animals. My three girls (ages 4,6, and 8) all love watching the animals hang out and sometimes catch them during their lunch feedings. They have lots of areas to sit and relax, or even for you to bring your own food in and have a picnic.

Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Walking around the hills are great exercise, but can be tiring if you're not used to it.

Excellent spot to take the family, or your special someone to check out domestic and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes. Try to go in the morning before the heat sets in and leaves you parched. High point of the LA zoo, when you are thirsty, adults can buy themselves a foamy beverage to brave the sun! The earlier you make your trip you will have better luck at seeing some of the hiders. The tigers enjoy basking in the early morning sun, and the elephants will be walking around ready for cameras. Take time to watch the Giraffes, they are slow eaters and it takes them a while to reach up the branches for their lunch.

A great place to spend time with children, learn more about the nature around us and spend time in the shade among, being in the center of the metropolis.

The zoo contains all the interesting animals: lions, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, snakes, etc.

There are a lot of cafes and restaurants on the territory, so that you can have a bite to eat from watching animals.

Parking at the zoo is free.

At first the zoo looks old, especially when you have visited zoos like San Diego's, but there is charm to the L.A. Zoo. It is decorated nicely, some areas are so pretty and those areas often have a sitting spot. The tours are fun and educational, the restaurants have good food and the staff is very friendly. This zoo may be on the smaller side, but be ready for quite a hike.

LA's zoo is a gem oft overshadowed by its San Diego counterpart but is an Excellent zoo with lots of animals, a petting zoo, and is also a botanical garden. (The garden part can be missed as it's incorporated at large so if you just take a closer look, you'll find many plants are labeled.)

Visit the Markor! His corkscrew antlers are amazing! Most exhibits are designed well for viewing though you should keep an eye on your map because some areas are easy to miss. My first visit, I saw many species I'd never seen before and much enjoyed myself at this large park that is 1/4th the price of the San Diego Zoo! Which is also great.... Just much more expensive....

My children have so much fun at the zoo. We usually attend boo at the zoo (Halloween), Easter or Christmas. The season pass is a good deal for the family. You can take food in or purchase it there. It's only open until 5 so you don't have to worry about losing a whole day. It's a fun way to get the whole family walking while having fun.

We hadn't been to the zoo for many years, but we came to see the Zoo Lights display. It was wonderful! There were lots of people of all ages enjoying the lights, music, lights and water display, etc. We saw that there have been many improvements made to the zoo itself. We are looking forward to coming back in a few months to see all the animals.

Customer service at ticket counter was lacking badly and when you call to let them know they were rude. Animals didn't look great and needed attention. Zoo layout doesn't make sense and hard to navigate. Zoo map doesn't match paths or doesnt show some paths maps.

The animal exhibits are really well done, and beautifully designed. Also the scheduled talks are great too. Our only complaint is that most of the food vendors were not open so we had to search for a place to eat for lunch. Otherwise we had a great day.

Well it's nice to have a zoo but on Sundays or any other day that they know there's going to be busy they block all the parking spaces and they open only two lots and then they charge $10 and then you have to pay to come in through the I understand paying to go inside there's cost you know to take care of their animals and pay the people who work there but having so plenty of parking outside charging just to park into 2 Lots having many others open no good ridiculous more like a scam not fair

I haven't been here since I was a child and wow what a beautiful zoo. They did a really great job abiding by the state regulations as well. As well everyone attending doing the same and maintaining social distance.
On a selfish note I loved that there were a limited amount of people allowed in the zoo. I was able to comfortably see the animals and stroll around the park with out having to look over peoples shoulders to see the animals and what not.

If you use all the opening hours, it is wide enough that you can go alone. My visit was $ 22 in summer and $ 18 in winter. There may be a $ 2 coupon at the accommodation. I want one or two more like NYC considering the size of the city in LA. (San Diego Zooh I like a zoo like me, and if it's not a 2 Day-Pass, I can't go around the whole area, so I think the LA Zoo is a good size.
Like Dodger Stadium, it is on the top of the mountain and public transport access is troublesome for some people (I use my own car because I hate private cars), but the risk of dangerous people appearing around the facility is considerably lower than other places.
