It's open but I'd suggest making reservations even though the website doesn't say so. Every animal was out except Lions Have fun!

Great place to visit with family and friends! Very affordable.
When I went there the animals were all asleep (even if they weren t nocturnal), I was there for a while and never saw some of them up and about. The enclosures were over grown and dirty, and a lot of them had rats/mice in them. I hardly ever saw staff, honestly it was so understaffed most of the kiosks and snack areas were closed. It was almost like the whole zoo was run by five people. Overall, I think this zoo definitely needs to be checked for neglect.
Liked it, come her a lot. It send as lot of exhibits we're under renovation, the signage and paths can be confusing.
I hate zoos but they really try to make it less depressing than what's really going on.
!!Beautiful!!
Tips: take plenty of water and lunch because if they let you in and enjoy it because at least me and my family took 6 hours to visit it !!
Nice place for families to visit Christmas lights but understand you will not be seeing any animals at night since those sections are blocked off since most animals need the night to be dark and quiet.
Took my grandchildren for the day. The glass enclosures where dirty making it hard for the little ones to see. The food was over priced similar to eating at Disneyland. Some of the animals were pacing and the poor Orangutans climbing on chain link fence just broke my heart. The enclosures are why to small for the big animals. The best thing was the petting zoo and the caves.
Beautiful I loved if one day you come to California you have to visit it is simply beautiful mind and very friendly people
Large zoo plenty of animals to see. Food and drinks are expensive
I had a great time with my granddaughter and grandson!
Great weekend trip. Amazing for the kids and fun for the adults!
Light show was very very good it's good to take your kids there next year
Great Zoo clean good variety of animals reptiles trams for touring around the Zoo food a little pricy
Just like any other zoo Water $4
I think a little high but good size

IV always been impressed by their security clean restrooms
Animal areas clean ki$s will have a great time as will adults
Good idea to bring caps cowboy hats etc sun block I would recommend all in all a Great zoo
They are open but they are don't have too much open
Waiste of time and money!!! The zoo lights were just that, lights!!! It was cold and expencive!!! Can't wait for next year!!! Not!!!
Zoo is amazing! Perfect place for the kids as they should be able to understand how beautiful nature is! Here, outside food is allowed so take all food you need. You can buy cute stuffed animals as well for your little one.
Absolutely the best zoo in Los Angeles for seeing live animals.
Great place to walk around and see some amazing enclosures.
I feel very high prices for what there is to see. They need to add something else.
An affordable zoo experience.
The animals appeared to be well taken care of & the exhibits were informative.
I just love to walk trough and watch the magnificent varieties of animals....
LAs hidden gem. Admission is so cheap. Lots of animals. I lower 1 star because feel bad for animals in captivity in general.
Sad place, the animals look malnourished, sick ... besides the facilities are not very hygienic ...
Clean park. There are many hills that can be difficult to walk for some - plan accordingly.
Good place to go on a walk and see the animals. I have the membership which is a good deal if you go there often.
What a nice, clean zoo. A little confusing with the trails but the animals are great.
Excellent zoo. Lots of different types of exotic animals. Very wooded. Excellent food services. Be prepared to stay at least four hours. It's a bit difficult to navigate, very confusing layout. But you will enjoy it anyway.
Zoo is pretty great during the day but their lights night was extremely crowded which made it hard to enjoy.
fairly big zoo with all the animals you'd expect from a zoo
Great variety of animals. Even with large School groups and a special Peppa pig event going on the zoo didn't really feel crowded at all.
The staff was really friendly, love the way they care of the animals, love it really so bad, would come soon again with my family!
They had an infestation of bees it was unbearable just to walk around
I bought a membership earlier this year. It has been a great experience for my 3 year old. Free parking, reasonable food prices, and a good workout. The animals are fed during the talks which I think is the best time to go. Check the times on the map provided when you walk in.
The best zoo to go to with the family. I was so happy to see my kids over joyed at the sight of all the cool and unique animals.
A very nice place to spend a good day with the family
A great place to take your family to enjoy the sights and it's a good place for a walk.
loved the zoo the animals were beautiful and the employees were kind and helpful
Always have fun at the zoo. Easy FREE parking...Safari Shuttle to take you around the zoo is worth the extra $.
Better than expected. Well kept. Bring snacks and water and save some money. Great summer fun for the kids and good value for $.
Outstanding. Weather was perfect, got to see all the animals.
Came for the holiday lights, the best part was the tunnel of lights. Too crowded to enjoy the rest. Great for kids, I'd rather return to Descanso Gardens less packed.
An excellent zoo and a very friendly staff. Me and my wife love to take our son to see all the animals and spend a very nice day.
Enjoyed the LA zoo today. Sadly, A lot of the animals were off exhibit today.
Many animals are not and the park is very neglected
love goung to the L.A. Zoo, kids love the petting zoo. But food is on the pricey side. Best to take your own lunch and eat at the picnic table area.
What a great zoo and in our very own backyard. The animals look to be taken care of with much love and TLC. The park itself is great and no matter ow many times you come you are bound to go a different route or discover another animal you might have missed the last time.
Nice place. Was worth getting a family annual pass.
I grew up coming here and now I bring my 3 boys ..but it seems like every time we go (I've been a member for at least 16 years) half of the exhibits are closed or being cleaned supposedly.. these days you hardly get to see much...its sad.and disappointing..after pulling the kids around in the 95* heat all day only to see monkeys eating their poop it makes me reconsider renewing my membership...weve only seen elephants out once..last time no lions either ...whats with the decline...seems to be heading in the wrong direction and not grasping the attention of children..just letting them down..what dose that say for the future?
A great visit to the LA Zoo once again! Being a deluxe member is really a benefit, we get 3 adults and 7 kids in for free. I enjoy the zoo more than amusement parks, since the kids learn about nature and get extremely excited to see all the animals. The food is okay, not great, burgers, fries, salad and the like, but you don't really come to the zoo for food anyway. Go see the elephants, they've put in a lot of work on that exhibit and it shows.
Although a rainy day, we went to the zoo for a birthday party. What a great party! The zoo catered a terrific meal and the curators were informed and friendly!!!!! Great place to visit and to gather with friends and family.
The best day with the family!!! ...
Had a lot of fun. Really sad to see the empty Lion exhibit. Other than that, it was a fun day with decent food
Everything looked dirty and animals looked unhealthy and there were animals missing in their sanctuary which goes to show me you guys really don't care how the animal lives at all everything was fake secenery real misery.I also suggest you tell your paying costumers when your about to close atleast 5 minutes before instead of chasing everyone out really really close with the security's car seemed very unprofessional for sure last time im visiting.
This is a great place for kids and adults alike. It is local, entertaining for the kids and a great workout for the parents. It offers a good assortment of animals and insects for all to see and learn. Makes for a great weekend getaway, and help support a local zoo.
L A Zoo is more than a place to spend a good day with family, it is an educational one. There is a lot to learn about wild life.
