There are situations, one comes across when traveling, that are unpleasant. Being stranded in a snow storm is one of them. Especially with four kids and grandma in tow. Most hotels will take advantage of this situation. The Lodge at Vail, and the evening manager Coleman Zimmerman in particular, went above and beyond my expectations. Coleman turned this "unpleasant situation" into a relaxing and comfortable side-trip. I wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely go back under better circumstances!!
Thank you Coleman and The Lodge at Vail!

Take this review with a grain of salt, as I did not pay for my time at the Lodge. Rather, I was lucky enough to be gifted a long weekend stay by a friend whose family owns a 3 bedroom condo. Needless to say, it's a beautiful property and proximity to the lifts and Vail Village are 2nd to none. Service was excellent from the valet to the front desk to the guy who came to cart our luggage down at the end of trip (who was so super pumped that we left him a bunch of beers and couple bottles of bourbon in the fridge you'd think they were gold bricks).
As you'd expect from Vail, everything is crazy expensive. Lift ticket? $180. Dinner at a slightly upscale restaurant? $100/head. Ski rentals? $50 a day or more. Lunch on the mountain? That'll be your 1st born child, sir. None of that mattered, however, when we awoke to fresh snow on day 2 and spent it plowing through knee deep powder. That's what it's all about.
If you can afford it, do it.

When pulling in to the parking lot I had apparently come in the wrong way. The valet who identified himself as "Jason"
Yelled at me to stop and ran up to my truck and chastised me in a very rude and condescending way before he actually reached into my truck and struck me lightly three times!
I was insulted, I was violated and quite frankly I was scared.
When I asked Jason if this is how the lodge instructs him on how to deal with guests and demanded an apology
His only response was "I look forward to never seeing you again, a**hole"
This was the most surreally hostile hotel I have ever been to. And I never even had the chance to walk in. Needles to say I canceled my reservation and went to a much more friendly and welcoming hotel

The Lodge has the best service. Perfectly located at the base of Vail. It s only minutes away from the gondola. Our family comes here every year because of how friendly and flexible the staff is. We love burning real wood fires in our rooms over Christmas and enjoying warm cookies after we ski from 3-5pm.

This is an amazing place to be during the holidays! I ve spent several seasons here, where you have ski in/out right at the hotel, you can walk Vail Village at night, and see the beautiful holiday lights everywhere, with everything within walking distance from the resort, you can t ask for a more special place to spend with your family or friends. The staff at the Lodge will cater to whatever you need, with a gracious smile, and always make you feel welcome and right at home. One word, amazing! The only thing that I would change is, I wish that I could spend EVERY YEAR here!

The Lodge at Vail offers one of the best locations in Vail Village. It's less than 100 yards from Vail Village gondola, steps from historic Red Lion, and connected to Elway's Steakhouse. Service and staff are fantastic. Rooms are a bit dated (-1 star). Overall, I recommend for a very pleasant visit to Vail.

A gorgeous property with very friendly staff and an excellent restaurant. The facilities are well maintained and numerous. The rooms are very well appointed and stocked. The one negative thing is that it was so noisy in my room from the big hotel AC transformers that I couldn't sleep at all.

The hotel is in an outstanding location, you have ski slopes nearby, within walking distance of the village (Chocolate factory is pretty much on the other side of the hotel), and the scenery is great.
As for the staff, they were outstanding. I had breakfast delivered rather quickly, and it was an excellent meal. I could ask for just about anything and they'd come through; they also had great attitudes towards guests.
The rooms themselves are all right, they aren't super-fantastic or anything, but they're comfortable, clean, and not to look down upon. You have pretty much everything you need in them.
Overall a good experience, I'd stay here if I return to Vail.

Dinner at Elway's was fantastic! We went for our anniversary and they seated us inside with a great view outdoors. We ordered two steaks, a lobster tail, bernaise sauce, mushrooms and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were the only item that wasn't absolutely perfect, and those were still good. Once the meal was over, they brought out a chocolatey, delicious dessert on the house for our anniversary. Highly recommend!

Room is very nice. I don't like how they charge you a resort fee of $30 a day and force you to valet your car for $20 a day, especially when there are no cars in the parking lot. I paid online and shopped around based on the total price. I would have stayed somewhere else if I knew about the additional fees.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR VALUABLES STOLEN. My husband and I had a terrible experience here. First of all, the trash was being collected around 5 am on Labor Day and woke us up to the sound of a ton of glass bottles breaking just outside our window. Then later as we were checking out, the valet or front desk people tried to steal my husband's Nintendo Switch. We left our luggage at the front desk to go to the spa for a $350 couple's massage (which we wouldn't have purchased had we known how terrible the customer service would eventually turn out) and we were told the valet would put our luggage in our rental car in the meantime. As we were leaving we were checking to make sure we had everything and couldn't find the Switch. As my husband proceeded to check with the lady at the front desk, a guy from valet approached me and said that he was sure we had it somewhere in our luggage. He also told me a story about someone having lost their engagement ring and she accused them but eventually they supposedly found it. As if telling me not to accuse them (which we hadn't) and urging me that everything was fine and we should just leave. That right there is just suspicious behavior. After being told that lost and found did not have our Switch and it was not left in our room, we were leaving and then realized there was also GUM stuck to the carpet in our rental car on the driver's side. What kind of valet service does that? We returned to demand to know if someone had been using the car overnight and why were we missing our property. Suddenly, lost and found magically had our Switch. Someone had been playing it and hoping we wouldn't notice it was gone so they could keep it. And some manager guy with long hair had the audacity to say to me that gum was easy to remove from carpet, that .."you just have to scrape it off." He told me he was sure his valet guys didn't do it as if telling me that WE did it to our brand spanking new rental car. I left that place livid. Terrible customer service!!!! Needless to say, we will NEVER return to this hotel and I strongly advise everyone against this place.

I went for a meeting but it was given earlier in this hotel. It is well located in the Vail Village. Walk a few days 15 and you find the gondala. I was for a meeting and very broad where I had the conference. If you are going to stay in one of the condos, the quality may vary. There is a section of the hotel with hotel rooms which is very nice and almost everything has been remodeled in recent years.

We stayed at the Lodge at Vail in a studio room. Very nice room set up, full kitchen, balcony, and fireplace. The ambiance was lovely. The location was great. The hotel is situated in the center of the village. This room had a Murphy bed which was very comfortable. The room was nicely appointed. I had previously asked for non feather pillows to be available in my room upon making my reservation. Upon checking in and arrival the requested pillows were not placed in my room. I only received them after having to request them again. I noticed various other inconsistencies in communication during our stay. When I inquired about using the fireplace. The front desk staff mentioned that a hotel staff member was only permitted to start a fire in the room s fireplace, and that we would need to call the front desk to do so. When I requested a hotel staff member to do this task, the staff member assigned to assist us mentioned he was not familiar with how to start the fire. So we ended up doing it ourselves instead. he actually mentioned he had never done this task before. The restaurant was only open for breakfast. The restaurant offered alfresco dining. The service was good. The omelette and cappuccino were delicious. I had made a previous reservation on open table for a late breakfast that morning. During the early morning of my reservation I received a call from the restaurant manager informing me that they could not accommodate my reservation because the restaurant was going to be closed for a private event. He did offer me a discount on my bill if I came in earlier. Each morning a self service coffee station was available in the lobby and with flavored water in the afternoon. With regard to food and drink pool service while my husband and I were relaxing at the pool there was no assigned staff member to take a lunch or a drink order. I had to call the the front desk to retrieve a staff member to do so. It took about 20 minutes for someone to assist us. When our order arrived the wait staff had to go back to the kitchen to bring back the condiments that accompanied my burger. My food was already cold when she returned. The concierge was not available to assist me the next morning after checkin because she only was scheduled to work part of of the day. This was on a Saturday morning. Another complaint and concern was that during our last night of our stay the hotel fire alarm went off three times during the the late hours in the night and again in the early morning hours. Each time the alarm staying on very loudly and long enough to make for a very unsettled sleep. There was an all clear intercom announcement after it went off the first time. No other announcements after it went off the other two times. When I inquired at the front desk on duty the next morning there was no explanation as to the cause. In their response one staff member did not seem very cordial not offering any explanation as to the nature as to why this occurred. For a 5 star accommodation, I would have expected this place to offer a more improved service and restful experience. Unfortunately it feel it fell below my expectation. I might consider returning to the hotel in the future. Based on my experience during this stay I am undecided. There were many nice things about the hotel s ambiance and location, but also a few items which I can t ignore as not making my vacation stay all that I would have expected.

Very nice hotel. The oldest in Vail, but does not look like it from the rooms. Not all the rooms are updated, but we stayed in a very nice one bedroom condo unit. Some staff is helpful, others not so much, I think it is more a training issue. Valet parking only and the staff there is extremely helpful and accommodating!

Incredibly nice and hospitable staff! Rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable, amenities are perfect. They give you refillable filtered water in glass bottles each day in your room, which is SUCH a nice touch! You can walk to everything in Vail village. Restaurants on site. Best gym I've seen in a hotel in a while, plus a spa where you can use the hot tub and sauna complimentary. They set out little treats and desserts in the lobby in the afternoons and were so kind. Pool was under construction when I stayed in May but it looks beautiful.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world, The Lodge at Vail is by far the worst I have ever encountered. We requested & paid for a renovated room, we got an economy room, I forgave that. There was issues with the air conditioning in that room that. I alerted the desk. We went out for the night, we were assured the "engineers" would fix the problem. When we returned the room was worse! I went to the desk and demanded to talk to this "engineer", he said they didn't do anything they were aware of the heat issue days before. We could not stand the heat! This was in the middle of August! I went to the desk and demanded something be done. In the middle of the night they moved us to possibly the WORST room in the hotel and the, the air conditioner did not work at all! I called the Sonnenalp to get a that room, last minute they found us a suite. The Sonnenalp was wonderful. We already had a good relationship with the staff at Sonnenalp. The day we checked in to The Lodge at Vail, The Lodge wouldn't help us, The Sonnenalp actually let us Vallet our car at Sonnenalp and had a bellman bring our bags from Sonnenalp to The Lodge to check-in. Motel 6 is better than The Lodge at Vail, stay at Sonnenalp, the service is top notch, rooms are AMAZING!
