Love this place. I have always loved pubs. I love the atmosphere. The food is excellent. Their naughty coffee/hot chocolate drinks are awesome. I would suggest this place over and over and over.

It's a solid restaurant. Friendly staff and good food.

I love the vegetable curry there, the wings, and burgers. Black and blue burger to be specific. I work there and I love my managers and the girls I work with, even the cooks. We're like 1 big family. Love yall!!!

Great service. Seems to be authentic dishes. The food tasted great and we enjoyed our visit.

The manager Austin is a closet racist and discriminates against his staff and shows favoritism when it comes hiring and scheduling. He was heard saying that "too many black girls work here" and followed up by docking their houra and firing them.

Marayah is the best ! Make sure you ask for her! The food and drinks were great, nice vibe...

First off we had to switch tables within the first 10 minutes to be in front by the bar because we were placed in an unseen unlit location and the place was pretty empty. We weren t receiving any service so we moved. Then it took another 5 minutes for the waitress to even come by. It took 20 minutes to then get our food and when it came out we were in shock at how horrible it just looked. My mother s meal was missing the mashed potatoes and the waitress acted like she had no idea that maybe the mashed potatoes were under the pot roast which they were not. My meal which costs $18.99 might I add, was the lemon caper salmon and it came out looking like it had been dried out in the sun for days and it wasn t a salmon fillet it was a tiny portion of salmon cut up in 3 tiny pieces and then a pile of rice on my plate. I have never had such terrible service and a terrible looking meal in all my life. A kid could make better food. Absolutely horrified by this experience. Trust when I say unless you re coming for happy hour drinks and nothing else stay away. HORRIBLE!

Quiche was dry, fish & chips good, service & all else GREAT!

You can find much better places to have Sunday brunch. Extremely slow service, our appetizer never showed, the food was over cooked, $3.50 for milk to go with coffee!!! . The only upside was the restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly.

Second visit this week! Amazing food, fantastic staff, and overall great experience. Can't wait until I come back.

Service was fine. Food was ok, but not outstanding and overpriced, especially for lunch. There are better and more interesting options in the same shopping area.

First experience a year ago was great, but more recently the service has gotten really poor and the quality of the food was so low.

Nice laid back pub style vibe in the middle of the Rim. Big screens playing sports, variety of drinks. A wee bit pricey but overall a good place to chill.

Cool pub, good beer, talented live musician, pretty ladies, good food. The water tastes bad, I deducted a star for that.

Husband and I went there for brunch today. We put in for a table next door at the other restaurant but it was packed. I'm glad we decided to come here instead. They had a traditional English breakfast which I had been craving. It was very good. We had bread pudding to finish off the meal and it was amazing. It's pet friendly for the outdoor seating, and our server even brought my dog a water bowl!
Excellent place. I hope they keep the English breakfast on the menu.
Only thing I could suggest is the waitress' skirts... It felt a little Hooters-ish. Our waitress' underwear was showing. I feel they could have a little higher class uniforms than that; it felt a little cliche. But all of the service was excellent and we would definitely go back.

The heavy set short female bartender with long dark hair sucked. Management sucked too. Came in with 6 other people, we were having a good time and bartender refused to serve 4 out of the seven of us. My fiance spoke to the manager about the lack of service and he didn't even seem to care. I know someone will comment back hoping that we will come back, honestly I don't see this place lasting more than another year. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, have aunts , uncles, my father and father in law, all with successful businesses who treat their customers like gold, and this place does the opposite. So sad.

Great pub feel. Good beer selection. Good menu. Plenty of TV's, and plenty of areas to find a table.

Loved this place... had a fantastic time. Attended a small wedding for a friend and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place for a small get together of any kind.

Service was awesome! But don't order the eggs Benedict! The yolks were over cooked and hard and the hollandaise sauce was cold! Our server did bring us more eggs that were cooked better but then everything else was cold.

Great place to grab some beers and food with friends.

first off if ur coming in from out of town or vacationing DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE VERY UGLY RUDE BARTENDERS This place might have been good a year ago. NOW it's been new management the owner has no idea what their doing worst ppl working there and thats because poor owner ship and poor management It was horrible WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN SAN ANTONIO DON'T WASTE UR TIME HERE you will be highly disappointed!

Great scenery and food but bad service other than that it was great. Would eat again if they got better service

Staff seems to not care about customers.

We went for dinner here and when the waitress asked if I wanted "Soup or Salad" with my meal, I assumed it came with it which was why she was asking. She never mentioned that it cost extra, but I found that out at the end when I got my bill with that extra $3.40 on it. The salad arrived and looked very good, but I stopped eating the salad a few bites in because I kept encountering small bone like bits which were unpleasant to encounter and then fish out of my mouth. It was most likely overly crunchy crouton parts but since I wasn't able to chew threw them I just left the whole thing alone. The waitress never asked about the salad and why I ordered it but then never ate it.

I didn't want to complain while out with friends so I called the business the next day to tell the manager about the issue because I feel like customers should know if extra charges are being added to their bill. Also not asking about the food I ordered but didn't eat struck me as something that could also be improved upon due to the perception it leaves. The manager was busy, so they took down my name and number and said he would call me back. He never did. I figure he just didn't care, like the waitress.

The wife and I found this delight of an English pub. Ever since a semester abroad in England, my wife always has to try any English pub. I had the Shepard's Pie with a side salad. My wife had the Irish Philly with a side of the beer battered mushrooms. All of the food and drinks came out promptly. Wife loves the mushrooms. The only complaint was the Philly came out lukewarm, but when brought up to the waitress's attention, a new hot one was brought out very quickly. I will recommend this to all of my out-of-town guests and will be back ourselves.

The tour of Britain and they forgot my damn Sheppard s pie?

Not very customer friendly coming from the kitchen today. Ordered wings but wanted just the flats. "Can't do it because the wings are weighed" are you kidding me??? Then of changed to it would be an extra charge.. ok which one is it? Wife ordered the curry and it was a little too spicy so we asked can we have a little more rice and that should balance the spice. NOPE, that would be an extra charge. So we cancelled the order. Just a little more rice cost them a whole meal order and a future customer. Sad!

Fish and chips were delicious but IPA tap selection left alot to be desired

I'm not a local, but if you are looking for a casual, entertaining experience then i recommend The Lion and Rose. The bartender that served me was both nice and hospitable. Overall, i had a nice experience that i would be willing to pay for and even take my friends to.

Good place to relax and get some good food and some drinks

A solid pub, with the predictable quality service and selection a person would want, and they have darts!

Went on Halloween and was very disappointed. Atmosphere was very dull. All menu items and drinks were overpriced. Half of the beers were unavailable. I had high hopes for this place but was extremely let down.

I'm a regular I come to the lion and rose once a month personally I believe the beef eaters burger is where it's at . with cheddar cheese mayo and mustard , chips . what you got there is heaven 5 out of 5 stars every visit .

I didn't go into this particular one but I have been in every other one in San Antonio and they're all the same.

Was very disappointed with the food here. The French onion soup had many soggy pieces of bread inside-instead of having crispy croutons at the top. The corned beef in the Reuben sandwich was dry and had fatty chewy pieces, also there was barely any thousand island dressing in it. My husband ordered the Sheppard s Pie and had very little flavor to it. Our servers were great, just the food was not good.

Celebrating my wife's birthday/week. You won't find a place as good with great food and wonderful service as the Lion & Rose. This has been one our favorite venues for years. Never disappointed.

Food is higher side of quality compared to other bars. Beer selection is solid. Service is friendly. Sometimes gets a little crowded, but so does everywhere else in The Rim.

Very comfortable atmosphere, timely, attentive, and knowledgeable wait staff (literally made rounds no less than every 3 minutes, only stopping when glasses needed filling or we made eye contact...EXCELLENT job, Tessa!). Food delivered quickly, hot, and wholesome. Fried Avocado Burger was exceptional (on the scale of burger quality and value), as was the flavor of the Ruben Sandwich. Ruben unfortunately was on the thin and dry side...but with a side of Thousand Island, was "good enough for government work." Bread Pudding served on a sizzling iron skillet with a side of vanilla ice cream was the flavor highlight of the meal...it's a must try! We'll be back to try more traditional, English dishes next visit.

Don't really reccomend this place but they tried. We waited a while for service after getting drinks but no servers greeted us or anything for about 10-15min. We had to go find someone. We asked questions about the menu and were told false information. (The curry is spicy btw). Then we asked for sweet tea and were given regular tea- or maybe they don't put any sugar in their sweet tea? The drinks were good but the bartender didn't even greet us when we sat down at the bar. She seemed very overwhelmed and in an irritated mood. Then, they tried to charge us for the curry, that wasn't even eaten. We were told it was not spicy! The food that we ate was good but the overall service was not that great. The cottage fries and Guinness cheese was yummy though. Spent about $70 for 3 people for a $40 experience. drinks are pretty overpriced.

The food is great. The service is not. My order was messed up 3 times, though it still tasted good. Most of their waitresses seem to have been hired for being blonde and willing to wear short skirts. Our specific waitress wasn't bad, but all in all the service wasn't up to par. They were very friendly though, and their food was amazing!

The food is top notch. My last two visits have been great experiences. My burger was delicious and their chips and Guinness cheese is always a favorite. They have a back room that can be closed off for private parties. I will definitely return.

Nice environment. Cool decor. Friendly guest and staff.Went on my Birthday and had the 3 5 oz. Beer flat thing. Then the waitress brought me giant brownie with ice cream and whip cream and chocolate drizzle. With a bday candle. It was yummy

Not all that hyped up people make it seem to be. Food was good, service sucked. Different waitresses serving you and most of the time they brought the wrong order. For example, I ordered a beer from my waitress and another waitress came by with the beer asking whos beer it was. After I said it was for me she still insisted in asking the table behind me if they had ordered a beer. After they said no did she set the beer on my table. Next time I would rather spend my time at the pubs on the River walk.

Only English pub I have ever been to with light wood decor
Didn't feel like and English pub at all. The food was okay, but there are far better options just across the parking lot from this place.

Surprisingly good food, but with a cheesy blend of pub ornamentation on top of modern/hill country architecture.

Great food, service. Everyone was there watching France v Belgium. Very exciting game.

Great food, the wait staff are friendly and helpful. I went for dinner then went in the next day for brunch, had the same waitress both times, Racheal, shes the best.

I cannot thank The Lion & Rose Pub enough for the great experience we had last weekend. We booked their private room for our holiday work party for 45+ people and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Robert (the manager) and his staff were very attentive to our needs throughout the night, and made sure to offer everyone drinks and appetizers as they arrived. The event room is perfect for any kind of event - it has 3 (or 4) tvs that can be connected to via HDMI, it has sliding doors that close it off from the rest of the restaurant for more privacy, and it has open access to the back patio where there is a fire pit and seating area. They helped us connect our laptop to the tvs in the private room so we could play a slideshow, let us borrow a microphone for karaoke, fixed the fire pit outside for us so we could have smores, and so much more. The wait staff were very efficient and were able to accurately split tickets for 45+ guests - and the food was very good, English pub-style. I thought they did a great job and I will definitely hold private events here again in the future. Thank you!

Went there to watch Kansas State play football. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. Had the bacon cheeseburger at halftime. Very good.

Cool British bar. The staff is super fast and friendly, drinks are always good and the menu is legit, lots of variety.

Fabulous restaurant. Fish and chips and Guinness everything a Scottish lad like myself could ever want. Lol

Bartender was friendly, mixed drinks very well. I don't mean high alcohol content. I mean portions were on point and it tasted the way it's supposed to taste. Food was fresh. Games were playing on screens surrounding the seating area. Great time.

Good place for a deal and good food watching a good game.

Came for a world cup game and place was reasonably crowded as you expect for an England game. Our drinks took forever to arrive, beers were forgotten, food was forgotten and a child's meal tasted burnt. The place was clearly understaffed and the manager did a poor job of making up the errors

Celebrated a group event there. Wait staff was excellent, food was yummy. Loved access to outdoors for guest to sit by fire.

This Is a lovely restaurant. The service and food are excellent!! A lively crowd Just a great experience...we will definitely return.
