Really nice hotel, reminds me a bit of the Ace. I stayed there for nearly two weeks while in New York for work. I received an email from the concierge within about 15 min of checking in, which was a nice touch. The bed was really soft/comfortable, but I can imagine it might be too soft for some. I couldn't quite sort out the AC unit so the room was always a bit too warm, but opening the window seemed to help. No coffee maker in the room in case that's a deal breaker for you. Otherwise lovely hotel with great service!

The service at the front desk was superb and I d like to personally thank Anna, Liza, Abner and Marc for taking care of every detail and answering every question with helpful suggestions. Brilliant!
Great hotel. 2nd time staying here in NYC because it is such a great located venue and amazing design / hospitality. Would 100% recommend. I have read other reviews saying small rooms, but remember this is a historic hotel with boutique rooms & lots of character. Beds are super comfy and the hotel has some of the best food I NYC.
Gorgeous lobby, friendly staff and complimentary water make this spot a win! The rooms are too cute and perfect for a city retreat. If you need a mini-fridge one is aval by request from the front desk.
The room at the Walker is slightly larger than other hotels nearby. The shower is a good size with a pleasant amount of water pressure. The bar is very nice and extremely relaxing.
Never heard of the hotel but decided to try it. Was very nice and all of the hotel staff were friendly. Breakfast wasn't the greatest, but the rooms and the bar, as well as the area around the hotel we're all friendly and fun. Would recommend.
Location is great, staff is very friendly. Only complaints are the small room size and lack of basic in-room appliances like a fridge and microwave / coffee machine
This place was a hidden gem for us! We wanted to get out for a long weekend after being cooped up for 6 months due to covid. While most hotels were either closed or wayyy too pricey for what was being offered, this place seemed like a steal. Greenwich Village, 4 days 3 nights, 4 star for $650 total? Turns out it was well worth it!
The rooms are a tad small (even for nyc), but they happily gave us a better room view as we requested. Great view of the ESB and the Metlife building. The bed was great, and a perfect height from the mounted 50 inch TV, tucked behind a cute sliding frame. The room (and whole hotel) has an old-timey, dapper look and feel to it. Think 20's-40's (cute rotary phone bedside!). Bathroom was sneakily spacious, and the walk-in shower was nice and strong. Anything you may need wad available for pickup downstairs (even had a complimentary umbrella if you needed it). All of the Covid precautions were clearly laid out ona handy sheet they gave us upon check in.
For the rest of the hotel, the lobby is gorgeous, tucked just under street level, it exudes that art-deco feel from a bygone era. Nice leather seats surrounding a working fireplace, a piano tucked on the side. Down a thin walkway (think a London tunnel/alley) was the elevators and a large restaurant area (this was NOT open at the time due to Covid-19, seating and dining took place outside the entrance).
We did eat at Society cafe for Brunch, and they reserved a nice little table for us for when we were ready to come down. I ordered the brisket burger which was good, though VERY messy (I popped the yolk while pressing the bun down...whoops). Came with fries which were delish. My wife had an omelet with breakfast potatoes. The latter was nice and creamy, though she did report the omelet itself was a little too salty for her liking. The margaritas we had were ok, lacking a bit of fruity flavor we were looking for. So maybe a 3.5 out of 5 for all that.
Overall though, this was nice! A really nice area where, even during Covid, there is plenty to see and do. If they keep the prices low (rooms were as low as $161 per), we may come back for a winter weekend!
We loved the Walker Greenwich. Some Pluses: Great location, beautiful facility, large towels, robes, turndown service, NYTimes, restaurant on site, workout facility, bottled water, comfortable bed and bedding. Negatives: cell service is not great and sometimes non-existent in hotel (they should invest in a booster for service); coffee (you have to purchase and it's not cheap.
Great staff wonderful rooms. New York sized so don't expect something too big. Nice shower and great soap products. Free bottled water and tv worked so no complaints
Stayed here for a week. Really appreciated the slippers, the umbrella, and the daily cookies. The front desk was very helpful and accommodating. The heat stopped working in the middle of the week, so they took some money off the final bill.
Spent New Years at this lovely boutique hotel. Enjoyed a Moscow Mule made with Tito's vodka and some delicious pints of Five Boroughs beer. In terms of food, we had the rice cubes and chickpea fries as starters followed by Atlantic Scallops as the main. The hotel had a lovely band playing for the evening, which really complemented the look and food menu. Would recommend, will return.
The Walker Hotel is pleasant and charming. A classic boutique hotel, I really appreciate the non-assuming nature. I always feel welcome... like staying with a relative.
This passed trip I ordered room service. It was absolutely delightful. The portion was relatively small (I'm from the midwest where portions are probably too big!) but the presentation and taste were not.
The kitchen was really good about my gluten free preference and double checked before confirming my order (I'm not intolerant or allergic, but due to my families allergies dont often eat gluten.)
One neat touch: each night upon return from work a nice little dessert greeted me. Yum!
One thing I would change: the rooms aren't really designed for using a laptop at the desk. I've had the queen bed and 2 double bed configurations. Neither afforded room for me to (comfortably) sit at the desk. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise (why was I working after work anyway?!)
Nice hotel, with a good location, several metro lines nearby. Friendly staff. Clean rooms, but if a room with one bed, it is not big, for the same money, with two double beds, more. A decent restaurant, it comes to locals for dinner and breakfast. The breakfast menu is varied, can be ordered when booking for $ 25, five options of the complex. Nice lobby, there is a bar.
I had a fabulous time The Walker Hotel, primarily because of how excellent the staff is. Everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I have to give special commendation to Irvin, Keith and Danny, who went above and beyond. Our rooms weren t ready on time due to unforeseen circumstances, and the staff bent over backwards to make it up to us. And this is high praise is not limited to strictly hotel staff. The kitchen and wait staff were also amazing, from late night requests to all around excellent service. I can t give them enough credit for making my stay as enjoyable as possible. Regarding the hotel itself, the rooms are smaller than they look in the photos, but from what I hear they are par for the course for NYC, but if you re into cozy this is the spot for you. Other than that, the water pressure was AH-MAZING, and the beds while small (I was sharing, and it was a full size, where I m used to a king) they were very comfortable. I was in town for a bachelorette weekend, otherwise I would normally stay with Friends. But if I find myself in need for a hotel in NYC in the future, I ll definitely be checking the availability at The Walker.
Love this hotel i went to see my dad in room 706 the room was big and nice and clean we stepped out for a few we came back back and the house keeper was in the room cleaning and singing she's so funny and very respectful i had to get her name mayra she had all of us laughing all in all my dad loves the hotel and so do best hotel
After the craziness of our wedding, my wife and I needed to get away from our Brooklyn apartment for a few days. We stayed at the Walker Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. From our room on the 18th floor, we could look out over the city and feel connected to everything. The Empire State Building was framed perfectly from our room, just past the rooftops and water towers of midtown Manhattan. We had a quiet balcony, a giant bathroom and a comfortable bed. We loved breakfast at Society Cafe inside the hotel, not to mention Murray's Bagels just around the corner. The central location of the hotel is hard to beat, with restaurants, attractions, and lovely, quiet Greenwich Village streets everywhere you turn. Walk south and you're at Washington Square Park and all the cool spots around historic MacDougal Street. Walk west and you're at the High Line, Whitney Museum and Hudson River Greenway. Union Square Park is just East of the hotel. We stayed the whole weekend and didn't even set foot on the subway. It was exactly the escape we needed.
Perfectly placed hotel for a stay in NYC... My room was modestly sized but very comfortable and with a fantastic walk in shower in the bathroom. Food and cocktails really were pretty damn good! I look forward to coming back soon
There was no hot water and the temperature regulation in the room was impossible with no AC. Also they did not clean the room and provide new towels and linens until we asked for it. Would not recommend unless you like cold showers!
Loved our evening there. Ate Thanksgiving dinner there. Very friendly & helpful staff. Great food & reasonable. Great atmosphere. Old historical building with art deco flair. Would definitely go back
I had a wonderful stay at this well located NYC hotel. The room had a beautiful view looking downtown. It was clean and nice. The restaurant was also excellent. I would recommend staying here!
Had a truly amazing stay at the Walker Hotel Greenwich for a variety of reasons~
First of all a huge thank you to everyone who was at the front desk and put up with me. I was stunned by how friendly and willing to help everyone was because I definitely had a billion random questions and demands.
Secondly, the art-deco and Gatsby- esque vibes made the entire property entirely unique. The rooms are peppered with vintage telephones and radios, and it is truly an experience you're unlikely to find anywhere else. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised with cookies and a name-card at in my room; it's evident that the hotel cares about it's guests!
Also be sure to try Society Cafe! The chef is amazing and the menu has everything from comfort foods reimagined to unique twists on flavors from around the world~
Thumbs up to everyone at the hotel, especially the front office staff and the MarcAnthony, for making our short stay so memorable!
I had a lovely weeklong stay at this hotel. It is beautifully furnished and has a lovely lobby area and restaurant. The room, whilst small, was quiet, dark (at night!) and perfect for getting a good nights sleep. The nightly turndown service was a lovely touch. Management were quick to respond when there were issues, which was appreciated. Would happily return.
Staff got several things wrong with our booking, so we had to move rooms halfway through. Things were wrong with both rooms that had to be sorted. Rooms are okay size for NYC but there's no room for your luggage or closet space to put things away. I'm not sure why most of the rooms are 2 small double beds (I'm not even tall) instead of a queen given the limited space. Rooms are otherwise clean and we enjoyed the nightly turndown treats.
Never again.........Owner contacted me. as a result of my comments which were not a result of the unfortunate flooding episode which happened while I was there. Could happen to any business....... My comments were regarding my room. Too small, stupid big heavy furniture. Dark (not enough lights and those there using economy style bulbs). Not enough storage room. Location of this place is 5 star if you have to stay in the Village but the hotel doesnt have enough amenity in my opinion to justify 5 stars. Noisy lounges, impossible to get a drink as place overrun with noisy young people. I know this is New York style, but adults have to be catered to if you want a high star rating.
I want to love this hotel, but I don't. I just like it. We got a room with a private balcony, which is great, because the room is about the same size as it was, and it gave us a place to hang out while we let the air conditioner pull the strange musty smell out of the air.
The beds are comfortable, but the cleaning service doesn't know how to clean. The bathroom had suspicious brown smudges on the walls, and they didn't bother to wipe off obviously dirty surfaces in the bedroom. Also, the ridiculously-designed shower (with an immobile partial glass wall) sprayed water all over the floor, forcing us to remove the lake with the rest of our towels.
The hotel has interesting architecture, and the (very attractive) service is friendly, young, hip, and a little out of it. What kind of bartender doesn't know what a Tom Collins is?
The location is great, but next time I'm probably staying elsewhere.
The staff were exceptional. The service in this hotel is one of the best we have experienced and it feels like whoever works here is vested in the hotel's success. The location is perfect for the areas we like to explore in the city. Loved the decor of the hotel and bathrooms had a real NY art deco vibe. Amazing water pressure in the shower. The beds were so comfortable!! Again some of the most comfortable we have come across. After a hard day's walking the city this was just bliss! Simply can not fault this place! We upgraded to the queen Waverley so can't comment on the other rooms. Ours was perfect for the trip and our next visit to NYC will be here.
Small boutique hotel with average beds. Beautiful lobby, stylish rooms and excellent service is offset by motel quality beds. Location is excellent, walkable to Union Square and many great restaurants.
One of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at. Barely any space to even move in the hotel.. nyc hotels are quiet small but definitely not as small as the ones here. The bathroom door handle and the towel holder just fell by touching it.. when I called the front desk the front desk person on the phone laughed about it and said someone will come take care of it in the morning. No one came to take care of it until I complained again in the afternoon .. I am usually give great reviews to places I like but unfortunately I did not have a pleasant stay here.
Nice hotel and the remake from Jaden has done them good. Still Lakshmi minibar which I think is a real bummer. Free wifi is a big plus! And it's nice and tidy. Friendly staff and cosy feeling at the hotel.
Stayed for 6 nights for work and didn't have a good experience. Would not stay here again. Hotel is very noisy at night and I was woken up many times for a variety of reasons, doors slamming, hearing people snoring, etc. Sent my laundry out for same day service and they didn't get it back until the following day (cost was over $70). Inhospitable staff.
I found this hotel to be beyond awful. 1. Room 507 which I am in has mold in it! (Picture included after they have cleaned it!) Apparently because of a leak in the shower. 2.it has no air conditioning but air cooling. 3.you cannot change the fan speed. So it is always on hi. 4.air constantly hitting the bed so when you are asleep you have blowing in your face. 5.room 402 which I moved from you cannot even change the thermostat so you are stuck with the temperature the hotel decides on. 6.you can finish a book by the time an elevator arrives. 7.i had to run after the cleaning staff to replenish my shampoo. 8.towels are removed even though they are not thrown on the floor and not replaced. 9.my tooth brush was thrown away for some odd reason 10 I was shown yet another room to change to for the 3rd time. 11.the mattresses are so old you sink in the bed. 12.the duvets are clumpy so basically the bottom have of the duvet is as this in as paper. They have changed the duvet! 13.the pillows are so old and hard. I heard a few people at reception asking for new pillows. 14.worlds smallest closet 15. the cleaning people are all over the floors chatting. 16. the floors are just filthy 17. I was bitten all over and the staff said there were mosquitoes yet there were none
There are a lot of nice hotels in NYC...this is not one of them! Reserved and paid for premium room on upper level floor. Upon check in was told they had an upgrade for me. It was a dark, dungeon like, small room on the second floor directly in front of elevator with a balcony surrounded by wood-no view (probably surrounded by dumpsters) and dark-and it was 30 degrees outside! I said no thanks and moved to the 11th floor. Room was larger, had light. Nice room with very noisy heat/fan. No heat in dining room where we ate upon checking in and waiting for our room (It was fixed during our stay) Spoke with another guest who had no heat (51 in their room night before) had to send maintenance to replace the blower. Their tub would not drain (another maintenance call) and their toilet broke. Did I mention my daughter and I were stuck in the hotels broken elevator for over 15 minutes with this poor elderly man and his wife? I chose this Hotel for its proximity to NYU. Its an older, charming hotel that could be good with better staff and maintenance. I cannot recommend this hotel.
Great hotel and location... Very attentive and friendly staff... Beautiful room with classy decor... We love that this area and would definitely stay here again
Love staying at The Walker hotel! Adrianne and Josh always give a friendly welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The whole staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. My first stay at the Walker hotel was on August 26, 2016, bc my daughter is attending NYU. I have been here several times in the last few months and loved it more and more each time I visit. NYU's parents weekend is this Saturday and Sunday; I will be looking forward to the outstanding hospitality at this fantastic hotel.
Great hotel - fantastic ambience and great bar. Pablo was an amazing bartender who took great care of us throughout our stay. His customer service and wonderful drinks made our stay incredibly memorable.
Tiny beds, thin blankets. Service generally OK, although the lady at the front desk tried to push the hotel's black car service on me over and over. The place was clean, but the staff didn't replace towels they took away, so I didn't have any face cloths on my third day. Hotel bar was cozy and the drinks were good.
Edit: Bump to 4 stars based on friendly response from the owner. Thanks for being responsive!
Josh, one of the doormen, was extremely helpful. The decor is upscale approachable. Highly recommend. The bar is lively at night and dim in the morning, prefect.
The room was very, very small. But if you can get past that, the Walker Hotel is fantastic. Lovely decor, a good restaurant, and water pressure that will try to blast the skin off your back when showering. They also feature staff that are super friendly, and a number of complimentary freebies. Unless you value space, I couldn't recommend this enough.
