There are a lot of nice hotels in NYC...this is not one of them! Reserved and paid for premium room on upper level floor. Upon check in was told they had an upgrade for me. It was a dark, dungeon like, small room on the second floor directly in front of elevator with a balcony surrounded by wood-no view (probably surrounded by dumpsters) and dark-and it was 30 degrees outside! I said no thanks and moved to the 11th floor. Room was larger, had light. Nice room with very noisy heat/fan. No heat in dining room where we ate upon checking in and waiting for our room (It was fixed during our stay) Spoke with another guest who had no heat (51 in their room night before) had to send maintenance to replace the blower. Their tub would not drain (another maintenance call) and their toilet broke. Did I mention my daughter and I were stuck in the hotels broken elevator for over 15 minutes with this poor elderly man and his wife? I chose this Hotel for its proximity to NYU. Its an older, charming hotel that could be good with better staff and maintenance. I cannot recommend this hotel.
