A great place to visit and get lots of gifts and special goodies. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Could not have been any more pleasant. Very impressed
A fascinating place and a good subject for a case study for a business is sociology student.
Quite incredible what the owner has achieved here: he took an empty patch of land by the A9, the main highway to the Highlands, and turned it into a must-stop location -- in the same way that Ray Crochet bought plots of land by American highways and used them for the basis for the McDonalds empire.
What this guy has done is turn his bit of wilderness into a money making machine; they call it the Harrods of the North and offer "country" gear to families on their way up in society: they sell tweeds, oilskins, cashmere and all sorts of clothing; they sell garden pots and plants, have a series of restaurants, including a fish and chip shop, and have just opened a bookshop.
They have taken the country gentleman clothing style and added it to the Macdonald's ethos and made a killing.
It's really an elegant motorway cafe and is so well done that people don't seem to mind paying extra for the nicely presented stuff they flog for a premium.
After taking photos of the operation and officious woman in the clothing department told me to stop taking photos: "The boss doesn't like it and he's on the premises." This means that my photos are more important than usual.
We've eaten in the restaurant many times before and the food is always delicious. We also love to browse and shop for your high end clothing merchandise and food produce. Given our experience of the quality service and products at House of Bruar in the past, we thought that meeting friends for the first time since lock down to eat out, House of Bruar would be a safe option. How wrong !!! We arrived at 12 noon. The restaurant looked way to busy in such a small enclosed space and it looked as though buffet service was still in operation. The queue for the restaurant had no form of social distancing in place. The food hall was packed with people so it was difficult to keep a distance. We had travelled 75 miles to get there so there was no turning back. The covered courtyard looked a lot more airy with less people there so we bought food from the fish and chip shop to eat in there. The fish and chips were good. We queued for coffees from the bakery counter and we were not asked for our contact details for track and tracing. We wiped down our own table with anti-bacterial wipes before sitting down. There was no cutlery available since we had bought the takeaway fish and chips. Whilst we had a lovely catch up with our friends, we were put off shopping after lunch as we did not feel safe. Access to the toilets proved difficult as the restaurant queue is right in front of the door so we had to avoid using the toilets. It was a very disappointing experience and leaves me feeling very concerned about the potential spread of Covid particularly in the restaurant area.
Looks Inviting, great long stay car park. Loved the vast Deli a marvelous browse everything under a rainbow. Expensive, but quality, always buy a Farl bread..so delicious with a Morella Cherry Jam or some smoked cheese from the deli.
A great place for a break while travelling on the very busy A9 road. It is very popular with travellers offering food and a range of retail opportunities all of a high quality. You do pay for the quality.
This is a massive country store specializing in top end clothes and homeware and fresh produce.Quite expensive. They have a self serve restaurant with a huge range of dishes from homemade pies to lobster and seafood dishes. The best value for me are the filled baguettes. They are big and delicious.
An upmarket service station! Restaurant super busy but lots of tables. Food is usually good. But, sandwiches dull & uninspiring, surprisingly so; likewise the bread with soup (excellent) was dry and tasteless. Cld justify an in-house bakery. Amazing range, and prices, of foods, clothing and lots more
It's always friendly, tasty and healthy CV cuisine, and superb, smart and artistic hard goods. The Sale Shop is super vale for good clothes, and every visit produces a pleasing purchase or two.
Excellent restaurant for an A9 stop off - self service but silver service quality sandwiches and full meals. Plenty of shops too if you're of the Shearings blue rinse brigade. Oozes quality.
The buffet style restaurant offers really good quality and freshly prepared food and decent prices. Can get busy at peak holiday times with travellers stopping off. The shops are very expensive but it is for the most part top end goods they sell so the prices are comparable to other places that sell a lot of hunting, fishing and shooting products, related fashions and houseware.
The House of Bruar has got class. Good quality clothes are found throughout the various stores. The delicatessen and food store is second to none. I recently bought meat produce at the butcher's counter and the taste and quality was excellent. If you want a good day out and are feeling hungry their restaurant is the place to eat. I highly recommend them and I know that people from as far as Saudi Arabia come to visit The House of Bruar.
A cute little place to stop in and do some shopping. Be prepared to spend some time there as there is a lot to look at! We had an absolute lovely time here.
A unique experience in many ways. Everything you need under one roof-so to speak. A great respite to break up a long journey. Coffee and cake went down a treat.
You can't not love it. You want to hate the tartan, the endless shortbread touristic and Barbourness. You can't help but admire the skill at which they feed so many people so well. Best place to stop for breakfast and lunch. Remarkable "services" style restaurant, check it out - best outside of Harrods.
It's very expensive. Some nice food but as the site has grown bigger it has started to become a bit formulaic.
They've crammed so many display islands that it has become a chore making your way through yo the cafe. It's often busy so these obstacles mean you're always having to squeeze past people. Most of the staff are very young and don't much clue.
Could spend a fortune here if my bank balance allowed me to. . It's a great place to visit, definitely has something for everyone. The food market has some delicious offerings.
Amazing place, we were here for the falls. There is a very good path and you can reach the falls. After we stopped here for a lunch. There were a lot of chooses.
House of Bruar is located in foot steps of Bruar fall. It is a combination of a shopping centre with a restaurant. It is a extraordinary place to shop local food and specialities from perthshire and overall Scotland. They have offer wide range of drinks and other local delights. Restaurant looks very clean and smell very aromatic. Prices are bit high but fully justified by quality. It is a perfect place for shopping a gift for your loved ones.
