This is a cozy little pub in the middle of the CBD. It has a great selection of craft beers with the option of tasting paddles. The food here is also above average for a pub, although on a couple of occasions food was slow to get served. The staff are generally friendly

They have a very good selection of beers, including tradition ales. The ambience is good, service at the bar is quick. Food is really nice - particularly their tasting menus are well-matched. Good location being close to Wynyard station, particularly handy for after work drinks in the CBD.

Nice restaurant with delicious food, terrific selection of beers.
Waiters are friendly and happy to share a laugh with quick service, though wasn't very busy when we attended.
Recommended for a beer connoisseur.

There are a few micro-breweries in Sydney, but not too many in the city centre. This is more than just a novelty this place. The staff are very welcoming. The food is good and the beer is better. They have a great range and some names that rely on puns. Puns are the greatest form of humour, everyone knows that. Well done .

My favorite beer cafe in Sydney. Mostly local beers and great service with friendly, informative staff.

Some beers are not to my liking (avoid the German Wheat Beer, pretty watered down in my opinion) but the more hardy ales and stouts are all the go

The best part about my experience at this bar was the bartender. On a night of bar hopping, we walked in off the street and the guy (I think his name was Callum?) immediately engaged us in conversation to help us pick ourselves a beer and introduce all the drinks they had available on tap.

It made for one of the better memories of the night and the beer was delicious!

Good beer, good food (especially appreciate kangaroo on the menu). It was strange having to raise our voices over the music at Saturday lunch when there was hardly anyone else in the venue (and we did mention this to staff at the time).

This is our first visit to sydney, we have "accidentally " came across Redoak. And we were glad that we find the place to hangout evening.. we tried few beers along with some snacks and mains. Beers are very good and so was good. We loved the chicken drumsticks. Tried garlic prawns pizza, which was just perfect. The stealer was lamb shank curry. The spices are blended perfectly lamb was tender. It was very joyful experience. We expected the chef was Indian, but later came to know she is Philippines. Must try dish..

Service is also excellent

We've been going to Red Oak for years and gradually bringing our friends and family too. Always a wonderful meal. They have a variety of reinvented pub classics and even better unique dishes of their own on a rotating, seasonal menu. As if that weren't reason enough to pop in, the in-house beer is great, again with rotating new numbers to try. The beer-gustation is great fun too.

The beer is brilliant. The Global IPA is crispy, hoppy and nice and heavy, the real ale is beautiful and understated, the English bitter is not quite a Bombardier, but close, and the Stout is much more Irish and smooth than the astringent and all powerful and chest hair-inducing Coopers' Best Extra Stout. The food is also great. The Lamb Ragout Parpadelle at lunch was simply delicious. A criticism is that a simple kid's menu would really help though.

Great specialty beers in bottles, often inspired by Belgian classics, but brewed in Australia. I recommend to have some of these! Really nice food, very delicious seafood sets. Great service, and cozy atmosphere; fancier than most of pubs. Would definitely enjoy this place again.

I think if you like beer, the redoak is a little slice of heaven. The selection of beers is certainly enviable. I'm always fascinated by the boards, six mini beers paired with cheese and meats. It's definitely not your average pub and a good space to spend a cold night, even if you aren't that into beer.

The pork & fennel sausages were so juicy and perfect with the mash! My partner got the beef burger which was cooked perfectly and a beer. Sat by the tables outside but then inside had lovely ambiance and great music

This bar was a bit of a surprise to me, I was actually looking for another bar across the road when I spotted this place. I'm glad I went in, there was plenty of choice in beers, some decent food options and the bar itself was pretty nice with two large brewing drums in plain view next to the bar. I'm glad I spotted it and went in.

Amazing beer, cozy atmosphere, great location. Service and bar staff are very friendly and inviting. Food is not too bad, prices are okay considering location. Highly recommend the Honey Ale and the Gaelic Red beers, fantastic!

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here. They only have their own craft beer here and a good variety at that.
The cafe is subtlely split into bar and cafe (eating area). It was open till late which is great as not much else is open around the immediate area.

Even though I'm not much of a beer drinker I have always enjoyed my time at Redoak. The tasting boards are a great way to try out the different beers on offer. It also gives you a taste of the magic of matching beer to food. Almost all the food on the menu, including dessert, comes recommended with a matching beer or cider. If you are looking for a snack then you cannot go wrong with the hand-cup chips, they are one of the best in town.

RedOak's biggest strength is the special selection of brews that aren't available anywhere else - its good on that front. The beers are priced about right (but on the pricey side). The food ain't bad either. Decor is okay.

Absolutely fantastic. Great beers on tap and bottled. Bar staff are so friendly and very clued-up on their beers and make great suggestions. Decorated nicely too. It was a great place to unwind and end off a very hard day. It was just what I needed, thanks.

Fantastic service, fantastic food and best of all, fantastic range of beers. On multiple occasions the staff have gone out of their way to find a table and for us in somewhere. I would rate them 6 out of 5 if I could (though that would throw the rating system into choas so part of me is glad I can't).

If you're after a bar to have a quiet one the Redoak is the place for it. The music is quiet enough for you to actually hear other people talk and it offers an amazing selection of very decent beer. Add to that the good food and service and you've got the perfect spot for an afternoon catch up, or an evening out with the mates.

Pretty slow service on a weekday, even though the restaurant was only half full.
We waited a good 45 minutes for our food, which is unmanageable on a work lunch.
Prices were reasonable, staff were friendly, but the kitchen let this place down :(

I really enjoyed the beer. Tried Porter and Red Ale and both was exceptional. Also the Seafood Tasting Board was delicious. Didn't have much time to spend, but would like to stay longer, because of beer. :)
Will definitely come back and will recommend this place to my friends.

My husband and I attended the Beer Class today and it did not disappoint. Staff were amazing and the food was so good - not your average pub food (flavoursome, fresh and perfectly cooked). The beer was great as well and the selection with each meal fit perfectly. We ended up staying after the beer class, had a cheese board and tried some beers and cocktails, and everything was so good, we couldn t pick a favourite - though I am big fan of the roo sausages and the orange brownie that we had during the beer class.
Definitely recommended if you like craft beer and like some wonderful food in the city.

Great service, lovely staff and VEGAN OPTIONS! Strolled in 9pm on a Friday night for drinks and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have 3 vegan meal options on the menu - burger, salad and a vegan stack for a main. I got the burger - kale and quinoa pattie with fresh lettuce, hummus, tomato, cucumber and grilled capsicum. Side of potato chips, real chunky potato chips. Loved it!

Found this place through EatClub. Very pleased with their selection of beers (esp. their vintage IPA). Even the girlfriend who doesn t love burgers enjoyed their southern style chicken burger. Would recommend.

Conviently located in the heart of the CBD, the beer and food is exceptional value and super tasty. The garlic bread is a nice surprise and not overly smelly. The tasting paddle ($12) is a great way to try the beers - I liked the honey ale. The fish and chips are the best that I've had (that I could remember).

Great staff, great food, fabulous beers and friendly patrons. Heaven on a stick! Do load up your credit card though. You'll want three of everything. Tasting plates are $20. Bar platters $25. Specials are very competitive. The charcuterie is the best in town for the price. The staff are well trained and eager to share their knowledge of the beers and ciders.

Good beer and really good food. After spending two weeks in east Asia I was very happy with my three quality sausages on mash potatoes. The side of what I think was cream cheese was a nice touch.

The best brewery that we tried in Sydney. Pete was our main bartender and he was extremely helpful. The wide array of beers is something that was oddly missing in most other breweries and brewpubs in the city. They have a good kitchen as well. We ordered the fish and chips, they tasted excellent.

I arrived late and was seated quickly. The rest of the table had ordered 20 minutes before I did and yet my meal (penne) came out on time with everyone elses.

The place is nice, and the food quality varies from (mostly) good to some very good selections, and the prices seem around the cheaper end for Sydney restaurants (but expensive by my standards).

The cheesecake is light and very delicious and I recommend that you get it if you go here.

Redoak has a good variety of local beers and ciders that they make themselves. Food is also good but portions are small. Have come here several times for after work drinks due to close proximity to my office.

I attended their beergustation recently and would highly recommend the experience. Kieran was a great host for the afternoon and was really engaging, especially given he was also managing the Redoak team. The food was way above what you'd expect in a pub and each course was perfectly matched to a beer. There's a broad range on tap so something for everyone and I enjoyed being taken out of my usual beer comfort zone and trying something new.

Delicious Australian beers of own manufacture. As in the whole country, dinner very well. A nice atmosphere to have a drink with friends and make a stop on the trip. We were dining recommended by the guide and it was a success.

This is the longest established craft beer be pub in Sydney. Really warm atmosphere with a great selection of beers; something for every taste. Try the Organic Pale Ale or the Pommy Bitter. Burgers are great too.
