Excellent rooms and extremely attentive staff. The breakfast was also very good. One minor issue that the staff may want to consider is the heated bed/sheets. This didn't appear to work whilst we were there (despite reading the instruction manual). Overall, excellent hotel and would definitely recommend

Guest Relations under the brilliant ZsaZsa Zanolie made our experience very enjoyable. Excellent helpful service from Niels and the Concierge Team, and also from Luca and the Team in the Restaurant. As always the Butler Team were exceptionally good - this time we were helped by Luiz and Carlos The hotel benefits from having many long-standing staff members who are kind enough to remember us and our preferences and to greet us warmly. This is a major reason why we keep returning.

I really liked the location of the hotel since it was not too crowded outside but within walking distance of the sites. The Junior Suite was very spacious and they were able to add a twin bed for our friend visiting for a couple days. Service was very good overall and the breakfast was nice. The only negative thing was that there was a guest one day yelling at one of the bellman at reception. It was very scary. The spa was great. I wish there would have been coffee or tea available in the mornings in the library. I would stay here again.

As the name says It's GRAND. Beautiful hotel with super friendly management and staff. With a lot of attention to detail, warm and luxurious. Love it.

Super nice, clean and well-kept hotel, great servi...

Super nice, clean and well-kept hotel, great service, mega friendly and helpful staff ... We had a great stay with the whole family (5th person and 2nd dog).
We will definitely be happy to come back!

Overall ok, but pricey given the size and quality ...

Overall ok, but pricey given the size and quality of the rooms. Right next to the Red Light district in Amsterdam, which may not necessarily be a plus. Bar and patio are a little bit uninspiring. Quality of service varies quite a bit.

Every member of the staff at the hotel were excell...

Every member of the staff at the hotel were excellent, from the bartender to the concierge. I felt like my stay there was the luxurious vacation I had dreamt of, and cannot wait until I have the chance to return to Amsterdam. I will make it a point to stay at The Grand whenever possible.

Great hotel in good location in Amsterdam gives you a decent base for a great stay. Here you live well in first-class rooms with some views, it is neat and clean. The staff are helpful and pleasant, they make you feel comfortable in the hotel. Good breakfast with everything you want. Relatively expensive ..

If I could give more stars, I would!

This hotel is simply THE BEST! The staff are super attentive - they go above and beyond to make each and every guest feel special.

My husband proposed to me here, and one year later we had our civil marriage ceremony here with our Dutch and American family members. Everybody enjoyed the experience so much. We felt like royalty the entire time.

Also, the bed is so comfortable - it felt like we were sleeping on a soft cloud.

We will return many more times! We truly love this hotel.

We had a nice evening at the Bridges restaurant. The food was great and the drinks were well paired (took the Chef's menu). But I found that the time between serving was too long. We arrived at 8pm and we only left at 11h30. A little bit too long... Next time we will take something "a la carte".

Very nice historic hotel. Stayed there for 5 days ...

Very nice historic hotel. Stayed there for 5 days (canal view room with kingsize bed). Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Great central location. In the rooms mix of top modern bathroom and TV, etc. but carpets and furniture already quite a bit worn and clearly under 5 star level (carpet should be cleaned urgently and stains to be removed). Housekeeping also not very top - e.g. turn down service with 5 days stay 2 times only for 1 person instead of for two (?) and the other days not at all, although we only after 20 o'clock came back. Very large spot with pigeon droppings on the window already on the first day, was not removed until the departure. Breakfast was ok but overpriced for the selection. A lot of staff at breakfast but totally uncoordinated and inattentive, even if very few guests are there. It takes a long time until somebody picks up the drink order and brings it. Since you have breakfast until the coffee finally comes. Reception and concierge once good! Spa quite small but ok, no real jacuzzi (only corner of pool with a bit of whirling and too cold). No changing facilities, you have to walk with wet swimwear back to your room. Overall, we liked it very well - renovate and better coordinate staff at breakfast, then it would be 5 stars .....

I stayed with my wife from 29/8 to 01/09. On arrival we were very well catered for and received an up grade room, as we were members of the Accor club. The suite was spacious and comfortable. The bistro and restaurant were also great. We also liked the SPA. We also won a champagne in the room for celebrating 20 years of marriage. I emphasize the special attention of the receptionist Asia, who treated us very well. The hotel is in a great location.

Excellent and will be coming back.
Details at reception ( delights, tea, wet towels) very thoughtful.
Service personalised and attentive.
Quality of food and drink tops. Breakfast options exceed expectations.
A lovely garden makes the experience even better. Rooms are tastefully decorated with delightful details, toiletries, bedding and towels are lush. A beautiful hotel with a fab one Michelin star restaurant as well.. totally recommended.

Friendly, attentive and hospitable staff. Fine modern and clean room. By leakage in our room upgraded to a Grand Suite, gorgeous! Breakfast a party, we could sit outside. What great fun we King Willem Alexander have just seen. We stay almost every year once in your hotel and we enjoy it very much.

We stayed three days in this beautiful hotel situated in the heart of the city and we enjoyed it very much, as we felt we were pampered all the time by the courtesy of the staff. Everything was perfect. I also suggest to have lunch or dinner at the Bridges, both the restaurant and the bistrot, because all the dishes are delicious. Highly recommended to every traveler

This place is a 10 out of 5 stars. The staff is top notch. Go way out of there was to make sure you are happy. The best rooms I've ever stayed at. You feel like like you are number one. The restaurant was amazing Laurence our bar tender was the best.

Perfect luxury hotel in everything, central area from which you can go in any direction, excellent services and staff available for every need, wonderful rooms equipped with everything, excellent starred restaurant even if a little slow, indoor pool and excellent spa , happy to have found staff who speak Italian, all friendly and kind. I will definitely come back in the future.

Splendor of a Hotel with a splendor of restaurant in it. Yes it is at the price. But every penny is worth it. You look out your eyes. Also work with sustainable fish and are committed to sustainability in the middle of Amsterdam. Super neat operation. Chef knows what the customer wants.

First off - I'm in the travel industry and I pride...

First off - I'm in the travel industry and I pride myself on service/reputation. I might have wrote 2 reviews in my life and this the first negative one (giving the world a little insight on Sofitel Amsterdam and what to expect if you make the mistake on staying here).

Stayed here with my wife last week for a few nights. Amsterdam was amazing, but the hotel staff hindered my experience.

The actual hotel is nice, but I don't go on vacation to feel uncomfortable, especially in a different country at a 5 star hotel. I suppose I wasn't up to the 5 star standard they're used to over in Europe or maybe it was that I'm from America? Not sure...

Checked in and everything started off great, but as the trip went on, I was treated worse and worse. The staff at the front desk and concierge was very disrespectful and rude. I didn't feel welcomed or accommodated and I'll never go back or recommend this hotel. To keep it short, I had eyes rolled at me, half answers, rude remarks, etc. (then started to get ignored and mocked). All the while I'm watching other guests receive the up-most respect and kindness.

As a guest at any hotel, no matter how you look, act, or present yourself, as long as you're kind and respectful, then you should be given that in return. Sofitel Legend the Grand Amsterdam was the complete opposite. I didn't expect such an experience at a 5 star hotel. I stayed at lower ranked hotels in London and Belgium on this trip and couldn't be happier with how they made me feel!

Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. If you do, beware.... I couldn't wait to leave.

I completely enjoyed the hotel and staff. In the lounge I was offered a delicious hot tea with ginger and mint that was fabulous. The spa was a welcome respite for a tired traveler and the bed was amazing

Quiet and spacious accommodations. Service is friendly, warm and helpful, that made me feel comfortable and at home. A Michelin star restaurant that is right there, and an indoor garden restaurant that is quiet and beautiful. My experience had nothing lacking in terms of staying in a hotel. I will for sure visit this hotel in the future. And the price was amazingly reasonable. I also enjoyed the spa, and was actually able to swim in the swimming pool, which is unusual in the middle of Amsterdam. the location is at the central, so close to everything, but yet quiet and peaceful

Hotel is fantastic, staff are so helpful its brilliant. However the breakfast which the hotel itself describes as the most important of the day has dropped since our last stay. Service on the first morning was awful, so much we walked out. Returned for the second morning and order was wrong, it was just average. Apart from that, the room was great, room service outstanding and our butler could have not been more helpful. Also a great location.

our plan was to arrive in the afternoon, but we had to leave the cruise ship early, arrived at the hotel in the morning. The hotel is amazing and the staff very helpful and accommodating. Our room wasn't quite ready so they offered us a free breakfast and what a breakfast it was. The front desk staff are very approachable and had tons of information and very helpful. I would absolutely stay there again.
