First off - I'm in the travel industry and I pride myself on service/reputation. I might have wrote 2 reviews in my life and this the first negative one (giving the world a little insight on Sofitel Amsterdam and what to expect if you make the mistake on staying here).

Stayed here with my wife last week for a few nights. Amsterdam was amazing, but the hotel staff hindered my experience.

The actual hotel is nice, but I don't go on vacation to feel uncomfortable, especially in a different country at a 5 star hotel. I suppose I wasn't up to the 5 star standard they're used to over in Europe or maybe it was that I'm from America? Not sure...

Checked in and everything started off great, but as the trip went on, I was treated worse and worse. The staff at the front desk and concierge was very disrespectful and rude. I didn't feel welcomed or accommodated and I'll never go back or recommend this hotel. To keep it short, I had eyes rolled at me, half answers, rude remarks, etc. (then started to get ignored and mocked). All the while I'm watching other guests receive the up-most respect and kindness.

As a guest at any hotel, no matter how you look, act, or present yourself, as long as you're kind and respectful, then you should be given that in return. Sofitel Legend the Grand Amsterdam was the complete opposite. I didn't expect such an experience at a 5 star hotel. I stayed at lower ranked hotels in London and Belgium on this trip and couldn't be happier with how they made me feel!

Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. If you do, beware.... I couldn't wait to leave.
