I was visiting from Texas and may i say this was one of the most beautiful things i have even seen. The only bad part of this is probably how much you have to walk and also parking but that's about it. When we got in it was like an airport, we got checked and stuff but that's wasn't a big deal. Then we went on these elevators that looked like pods and went all the way up. Once u reach to the top their r windows to look at the amazing city. The elevators were fairly slow and honestly i couldn't feel us going up it just felt like sitting down. I would recommend to go in the afternoon so u can see the city at night.

Super cool, again (I was last here 35+ yrs ago). Their museum was updated and reopened recently, using technology to enhance your experience. I was happy to have shared it with my husband and son.

Impressive! I was a tiny bit worried about the Tram ride up, but it was actually a great experience! The little windows allow you to see out into a stairwell, so as to prevent claustrophobia like responses. But also, you are not looking out into the open air so if you have a fear of heights you will not even notice you are that high up.

Everyone who worked for the national park services was extremely friendly and informative! I would recommend going earlier in the day as we did not have to wait in any sort of line. But, as we were leaving the line was quite long.

Be sure to leave plenty of time to go thru the museum!

I highly recommend taking a tour of the arch. It costs $13 to go up. The visitor center is brand new and looks great. It takes about an hour to buy tickets, get in line, ride to the top, see the sights, and ride back down.

Check out the history of the United States' expansion west, from the original French settlement of St. Louis, to Thomas Jefferson's doubling the size of the country with the expansion into the Louisiana territory, to the building of the Gateway Arch. Ride the tram to the top and visit the surrounding down town.
Plan on staying all day!

She's a gleaming steel beauty! Spacious new entrance. Top notch new museum. Efficient tram scheduling (like evey six minutes) keeps the flow of visitors moving well. Appealing visuals of fun facts throughout your wait to your retro pod ride to the top. Parking is the only tricky part of visiting this historic attraction. It's worth the effort, but I wish it were easier and closer.
For those in group who don't want to ride to top, there is plenty to enjoy in the museum at the base, with places to sit. In the museum there is even a mockup of the keystone Arch segment with sample photos of views from each window, so you can "see" it without taking the tram ride (and climbing the few more stairs) to the top. Also down below is a little cafe for a quick prepared bite. Extensive gift shop. All around fun fun visit! Family friendly venue, including for grandparents. Worth seeing.

We had a great time. Enjoyed the tour through history in the museum. If you are claustrophobic or afraid of heights, the ride to the top might not be for you. However, there is plenty to do on the ground and still will enjoy the experience.

Very impressive monument. The ride to the top is cramped, but fun, and the view from the top is amazing. The museum at the bottom is very interesting. The entire facility is very clean and well kept. I definitely plan on visiting again whenever I'm in St Louis.

*Would not reccomend for very small children or people who are challenged by standing for long periods or navigating small steps.*

**Obviously not an attraction for those who struggle with heights or tight spaces and crowds.**

***The tram to the top is comprised of 8 cabs(more like little pods) which seat 5. Trams must be full for the ride up so be prepared to share a cozy ride with strangers if your party is <5.***

Not my particular brand of excitement. The tickets are kind of expensive for such a short ride. They do give a somewhat detailed presentation before the ride up but it is comprised of information you will have already gleaned from your walk through the museum. The presentation also feels very rushed. Entire trip, from line-up to top of the arch, takes about an hour. The ride up itself is only 3 minutes.

You are allowed to hang out at the top for as long as you like but the area is small and crowded with 12 or 14 small windows thru which visitors can snap a pic of downtown STL, Busch Stadium, and the Mississippi river.

Great for anyone who is interested in architecture, STL history, or just enjoys views from up high. This is one of those things that if you visit the city you have to visit the attraction. London has the ferris wheel, Paris has the Eiffel Tower, and St Louis has The Arch.

Do it once and you'll probably never be compelled to do it again, honestly. The zoo, The Science Center, or The City Museum are all more engaging alternatives, in my opinion.

This is the staple of any St. Louis trip. The improvements to the museum will only add to the experience. If you haven't taken the train to the top, you should, it's a bucket list must do for everyone. Also, make time for the movie, it's totally worth the time, and gives you a real sense of awe when you leave the belly of the arch and look back.

Great place to visit. Enjoyed walking through the museum and going up in the arch. Great views! Beautiful park to walk through and enjoy the scenery. Very reasonably priced to go up in the arch. Fun family activity. Bypass the ticket line and buy your tickets online. Don't miss this if you are in St. Louis!

Awesome. Small team up to the top, small windows but what do you expect? It's an arch. So cool!! I hear it sways on the wind but it wasn't windy on our trip lol
Such a beautiful piece of art. Well worth trip.

A must when visiting St Louis. What other city would pay $40k to a designer for a structure that no one for sure thought it could build? The same city that used steel to build for the first time a structure across the Mississippi River. Home of the ice cream cone, ballpark hotdogs and first US Olympics held. Come see how the West was Won!

It was definitly fun to go up the arch and see the city from above. They offer a nice and detailed tour about the history of the arch, its construction etc. The whole experience is kind of cool - going up to the top felf like being shipped to space (although the cabin didn't move at space speeds - so don't be afraid).

I actually expected just information about the Arch and its construction but got an incredible amount of information that I didn't expect about the history and growth of the St. Louis region with great displays, as well as not only information about the Lewis and Clark Expedition , but the Oregon Trail and the explorers and pioneers as well. I really wish I had a couple days to fully explore the museum.

It was pretty crowded. I went with my school's fine art trip. The elevators are a bit crowded, wouldn't recommend if you are extremely claustrophobic. Windows were a bit smaller than I expected. All in all, had fun. I was able to do a bridge (the yoga pose) on the top of the arch.

Beautiful structure right next to the river. The museum is free and the ride to the top is inexpensive. Very interesting history and how it was built. Our guide to get to the pods to go up was a lot of fun. You can tell he loves his job and his excitement was contagious. Looking forward to returning! (A couple of the photos are from our hotel room view. Pretty amazing!)

One of a kind experience. The pods that take you to the top of the arch are really fun and the view from the top is awesome. Not ideal for someone who doesn't like small spaces though. Pods squeeze 5 people into the space of a closet with low ceilings. The renovation to the museum is really nice and there is a small cafe and gift shop. We live here and we still go up every now and then just for fun.

We loved the arch very cool to see my kids hated the elevator thing but learning about it and the little shops they have down there was pretty cool we will def go back again and would recommend it to anyone that hasn't been there before definitely one for the books and one to never forget

The arch museum is a nice place to cool off and learn a thing or two. The price is right with free admission! getting to the top will cost you a few bucks. the views are real nice on a clear day. Be warned you are squeezed in there like a sardine in a can. if tight spaces are not your thing the riverfront is a great space to relax!

Simply beautiful. The online booking feature is a huge help, and I highly recommend going early in the morning, or on Sundays as the crowds are non-existent.

Beware of parking. The river ledge is actually an all no-parking spot, and there were well over several dozen cars parked in this yellow lane. Found out quickly this is the city's #1 false parking location and they have a regular parking enforcement officer walking up and down this row all day. There are a few lots nearby, but if you're visiting like I was, simply park over at City Museum, and walk a few blocks. Otherwise, street parking is free on Sundays!

What a Great, no what a GRAND American Landmark. You Truly must see it in person, it is a sight like no other. It looks different from every angle due to its unique shape.

First time there construction was underway on renovations to the park and facilities, that made it a little less enjoyable. However finished plans look very nice, hopefully it will be that much better.

At this time I could only give it 4 Stars due to the construction and slightly increased wait times and ticket availability do to the South Tram in service at the time of my visit. YOU MUST purchase tickets ahead of time. I purchased mine online 2 days prior, and the day I went they were sold out. You can print them, or pick up them at Will Call (got mine from the Old Court House). Also ONLY Journey to the Top get you access to the trams and observation deck.

Another reason (which hopefully is being updated) is the distinct age of the Archs trams and observation deck. They could use a modernization, however it is a monumental achievement that you can even ride a Tram to the top if you have watched or read how the Gateway Arch was constructed. It is one of a kind, an experience like no other.

CLAUSTROPHOBIC BEWARE the trams are very very small. 5 people can sit in each tram, and if you do not have 5 people in your party you will be sharing with other visitors sitting knee to knee for the 3-4 minutes ride. The view from the top is good but not great, Very small windows as you would imagine, and hard to see out of for some do to the unique shape of the arch. Still a check in the box for me to go to the top (Get you Been to the Top Certificate from the Gift Shop!)

Overall a great place to visit wheather you visit the top or not.

A must see experience for sure. Do yourself a favor and book the ticket and riverboat package online ahead of time. My family (kids age 3, 6, and 8) did the 10am tram ticket and noon riverboat tour and time was was perfect. If you like spending more time reading exhibits in the visitors center, then maybe do a 9am tram and noon riverboat or similar time spacing.

Security early in the morning on a weekday will only take about 10 minutes to go through. The newly renovated museum is really great and tells you all about the history of westward expansion, the city, and the arch specifically. There are lines for the tram to the top after the exhibits and you can only get in line 5 minutes before your ticket time. After getting in line you will probably wait approximately 30-45 minutes before actually getting in the pod and going to the top. The pods seat 5 and are very small and clostophobic. Travel time to the top is 4 minutes up, 3 minutes down. Once you get to the top don't expect to spend long there (probably 10 min max) then first come first serve tram ride back down. Overall worth the $10 ticket price.

Buy your gift shop trinkets here. They have better quality and prices than shops in town. One side of the arch was closed when I visited for renovations but I went on a weekday so it didn t make much of a difference as far as time is concerned. Great views of the Lou. It s worth a visit.

I visited the arch at night, and I could definitely recommend it. The lights they use to illuminate it are a really great effect! The atmosphere at the arch at night is nice and peaceful. Don't pay more than 5 bucks for parking! Some garages will try to rip you off.

What a cool structure! I enjoyed viewing the Arch and learning about its history. Warning: Purchase your tickets hours or days in advance and show up at least 20 minutes before your scheduled time. You have to go through security and make your way down to the trams (possibly crowded space).

What an amazing attraction! This really is a great place to visit and to look around. If you're claustrophobic in any way whatsoever I would advise you not to take the elevator to the top. It's fun and my kids loved it. If you're anywhere near this make the drive to go check it out! We loved it as a family and would definitely go back.

You cannot be in StLouis and not visit the Arch. Very well organized, knowledgeable employees, all tech and clean. Was an amazing experience. Looking at the city 630 ft above ground was astonishing . Really great museum as well.

Very nice place, cool to see. Little wait to get to top of Arch and it was pretty packed at the top but it was pretty neat.. I did not do the theater part but the museum is pretty cool and informative..

Absolutely loved visiting the arch. Came here at night time. It was quiet and the arch was lit up. Actually got to sit right under the arch and the view looking up was amazing. There are opportunities so take a ride up the arch, but either way truly enjoyed the grandiosity of it all!!

Me and my wife had a great time! We were not ready for the abundance of people waiting and still lingering at the peak of the arch though, not much circulation up there so be ready to smell EVERYBODY !!! Either way you cannot beat the view !!!! Its a once in a lifetime experience so go go go get to it people.

The museum, which is free to the public and much nicer than it had to be. The lawn below the arch makes for some great family photos. The arch itself is a engineering site to behold. The trip up was a bit shaky, but the views it affords of the city below is spectacular. Kids enjoyed it, and we even saw a baseball game being played at the stadium.

It was a great experience though I'll never do it again. I wasn't expecting the arch to sway. It was a very troubling feeling so I wanted off asap but one set of trams broke so it took a while to get off the arch. It was a very pretty view though.

4 instead of 5 stars because it's confusing to find the entrance. But instead, the history was awesome. The ride up was so fun and the view from the top was great... it was like being on top of the world

The arch makes the St. Louis skyline appear more aesthetic! There is a tram which takes you to the top of the arch to a viewing gallery from where you can get a bird's eye view of the city. The mechanism used by the tram to travel along the curved arch is very innovative! The viewing gallery at the top can get very crowded and hot, so I recommend don't wear warm clothes while going to the top.
