What a wonderful day spending time at the Gateway to the West. A must thing to do when you are there is take the ride to the top of the arch. The views are incredible, but don't be claustrophobic or afraid of heights. The museum down below and the parks connecting the river with the arch and the courthouse are a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

It was my first time to the Arch. Going to the top and coming down was a little tight with 3 tall men in our little trolly cage, but was really fun. It was a great way to spend the afternoon on that cold rainy day. It's really a must see place.

The teams were not running the day we were there, but we still had a great time roaming the grounds and exploring the museum. Everything we did was free and made a great afternoon on an unseasonably warm December day. Parking can be an issue, but not enough to ruin your day.

The arch itself is absolutely wonderful. It is quite the Engineering marvel. The family enjoyed the ride up to the top however, there were so many people in that tight space it was difficult to enjoy. We would have enjoyed it much more with less people. I would recommend going at off peak times.

Amazing. SO much larger in person. It was super hot that day and there was a lemonade stand nearby that was very good. The little splash pool was full of kids trying to keep cool. Didn't do any of the trams or museum because we were in a rush traveling from city to city but it was a fantastic pit stop.

The staff at the Arch were all very helpful and friendly. There is a museum to look through before or after your trip up the Arch, and of course, a gift shop. From the top, you can see so far! If you're in st louis, you really should visit the Arch. I will say, however, if you are claustrophobic, the ride up could be a problem. They put up to 5 people in a tiny, enclosed capsule, and I wasn't sure I could do it without having a panic attack. I did it, but I admit I kept my eyes closed, so I didn't have to see how tiny the space was! It's only a 4 minute ride, though.

Not what I expected but glad I went. Not only can you go up the arch, but there is a museum underneath it that you have access to as part of your ticket to go to the arch. Cool expert for sure.

Beautiful view of St Louis! (Not much to look at on the Illinois side ) Says it typically takes 45-60 minutes for the "Ride to the Top" ticket. Can be done faster if you're only concerned with seeing the view from above but it's worth taking the time to see the museum space too.

The Gateway Arch National Monument is a must when visiting St. Louis. Get tickets ahead of time as they book up quickly. The visitors center has been redone since I was last there and really tells the story of how this monument came to be. Beautiful park around the monument to walk or lounge.

A beautiful park area next to the river. The underground museum is very well done and traffic control to the elevators up to the arch is excellent. The actual cars up to the arch are very small but have a quaint feel. The view up at the top was obstructed that day because of fog, but it was a good experience overall.

This is one of those attractions that you do just to be able to say that you've done it. The lift pods are very small. If we had share the ride with any one of size it would have been a much more uncomfortable trip. The observation area is also very small. I went on a weekday afternoon in March. I can't imagine what it would have been like on a weekend during tourist season.

Really huge monument, and the whole park around it is super nice. Under the arch there is a visitor center with a free and spectacular museum. You can buy tickets here to ride to the top of the arch inside the monument. Btw, don't do it if you have claustrophobia.

If you love national parks, this is a must visit, learn about the westward expansion, travel in one of the teams to the top and experience the breathe taking view of bush stadium and St. Louis from over 600 feet above the world. It is an absolutely wonderful experience and one the family can enjoy together.

If your going to visit the arch, visit the website and purchase your tickets early. They sell out rides quickly and often. During my visit today we arrived shortly before 4 pm and was not able to ride until almost 7pm. You can spend a great amount of time in the museum and the shops below. You WILL pass through a security checkpoint before you enter so travel lightly.

It was a really cool experience. The pod you go up the Arch in is pretty small. It fits 5 people, but If you don't like tight spaces it could be a tough ride. But I had a great time and recommend anyone visiting St. Louis to see it, it's part of our country's history. The museum is also really good everything has been redone.

What a fantastic monument! Much more impressive in person than online. The museum under the structure was recently renovated and was absolutely amazing! Very interactive and educational. Definitely will go back and recommend taking the family.

This place is more than just an icon! There's a fun shop/snackstore and museum inside! The view is excellent from the top, and the history inside its oddly shaped walls goes back farther than even the Arch itself!

Wow! 5.5 Stars!

Wow! 5.5 Stars!
Being at the arch in person is of course very impressive, however it is the museum underneath, all of the exhibits and displays, and the amazing history that is so well presented that you will not want to miss.

Plan on 4 hours to explore and make sure you get there several hours before a listed closing time or you will not get a tram ride up the arch!

We didn't get to go inside due to the government shutdown. What we did get to see from the outside was awesome, but starting to rust a bit. The one guard on duty said it had never been cleaned, so maybe that is something to consider doing. I wish I could rate it higher, but that will have to wait for the next time I visit assuming the shutdown is over and I get to go inside!

This is such a neat place with lots of things to see and the view from the top is amazing. I have a new phone so I did not get all my pictures but I can tell you it is a view of lifetime. The ride up is a little small and tight but it is well worth the time.

I loved the arch.

I loved the arch.
It's cool, and has a lot of history to go along with it.
It's a real shame that it's a diamond in the middle of a ghetto.

This is a must do in St Louis. The whole experience is so well done. There is a really amazing museum under the arch when you go in that tells you all about the history of St. Louis since the city was founded. The trip up to the top is easy and quick. The view from the top is stunning. The whole experience takes about an hour. There is also a beautiful park surrounding the arch. I would highly recommend going to the arch if you only have a little time in St Louis.

We went on a Wednesday at about 5:30 pm. The lines were super short. For those of you who suffer from motion sickness like I do, don't worry. It wasn't that bad. It takes 4 minute to go up and 3 minutes to go down. You are in a small pod that sits up to 5. I sat where air was lightly blowing on my face, and I was okay. My only problem was that I stupidly hit my head on the pod three times, but that's because I'm clumsy.
We only stayed at the top for about 10 minutes, because it felt like it was moving and that was weird feeling.
It was great, and I'm glad I did it!

Gate way to the westward expedition. Great history associated with his place. What a great architectural design and execution to construct such a great arch. It was started building in 1961 and completed in 1968. This has became part of National Park in 2008 and It has been very well maintain and organized for the visitors. Once you enter the basement of Arch you have to go through airport style security then you can first see the museum and learn more about history then you can go to the TOP of the arch in tram. The tram are very small and lot of people talking about if you are claustrophobic then you should avoid it. I think its not that small too. It is manageable to see such a spectacular view from the top. Check out my youtube channel to see the video and learn more about it. Thank you

The museum below the arch is super interesting and well laid out. The ride up to the top is smooth enough for what it is and totally worth doing. The view at the top is incredible, though crowded. The monument is fascinating architecturally.

The arch is more impressive than I anticipated. This is a quick 5 minute stop for photo opportunities. There is on street parking available at no cost. I wish there was more informational signage about the area and arch. The arch towers over you. You also have a nice view of the river.

This is a free national park. Anyone can walk the grounds and visit the old courthouse museum. The website gives you the impression you have to by a ticket for arch activities. Yes, if you want to take the tram to the top of arch, there is a charge. If you want take a riverboat cruise there is a charge. But if you want to walk and enjoy the park, it is Free! Take advantage of this unique National Park

Amazing place. I really enjoyed travelling to this place. The trolley used to go up is something different and unique. If you visit st. Louis this is a must visit place. I think this is the only tourist attraction there. I travelled from Bettendorf to st. Louis. Took around 4 hours to reach this place. You can also visit meramic caves which is nearby.
Last picture contains tiny windows which is the view point.

Buy tickets over the phone or online before you go if you want to go to the top. The museum and displays leading from the entrance to the tram/elevators are phenomenal! That view is amazing and would recommend later in the day for a great pic.

Was lovely. Annoying that the scooters were not allowed in the park, but otherwise beautiful and well maintained. No idea where people should park to visit this place though. More folks would probably visit if they could park within a short distance. I m not sure how anyone elderly would be able to visit.

Of course you have to do this American Icon! It is located on a park that sits on the western bank of the Mississippi River. It is absolutely dizzying to look up at while underneath it. There are ample opportunities for pictures so don't rush. The entrance to getting inside the arch is on the west side of the park. True American exceptionalism

The Arch is interesting and I respect architecture, but this should not be a National Park. It s really a piece of art. But again, it s interesting to see and the view from the top is neat. Just don t think it s worth $22.

I loved it, this arch hold so many records and the architecture is beautiful and the engineering is incredible. The lift is not as scary as I thought and was almost cozy. The top was not overcrowded and I got some great photos.
