Wonderful trip to the top of the arch. Impressive ...
Wonderful trip to the top of the arch. Impressive view. My family loved the arch.
Wonderful trip to the top of the arch. Impressive view. My family loved the arch.
You can't understand how amazingly beautiful this place is until you're next to it. Been here twice and I'm still in awe.
I remember going as a kid, now I'm taking my own kids... its nothing seriously wowing other then the view from the top. The total experience was smooth as well. A bit of a line and wait time but it goes fast, also be sure to get there early because tickets will SALE OUT!
Awesome view of Saint Louis and Illinois across the river. The tram ride up is very cramped for anyone over 5'8" but it was pretty quick so it isn't a big deal. Also the tram is bumpy and stops abruptly so it can be a bit nerve-wracking. However, it is definitely worth going, you can stay at the top for as long as you want if I remember correctly. It is pretty stuffy and much warmer at the top, which is to be expected, and is definitely bearable. Also, the windows are pretty small and it's pretty crowded, but if you are patient it isn't too hard to get a great view and take some pictures, people get bored pretty quickly.
It was kind of a bummer. Everything was closed except the gift shop and a 7 minute movie. We got to see the arch up close which was neat, but we really wanted to see the museum and travel in the arch.
I enjoyed going to the gateway arch. It was a fun experience and I think that everyone should do it once in their life. I didn't have time to go to the museum because I went with a group as part of a school trip. You can stay at the top of the arch for quite a while. The windows are kind of small, but it is really fun to look out of them.
Gateway arch. What can you say. The grounds around the arch are great for walking and viewing and taking pictures. The museum and waiting area for the trams are better than I remember on my previous trip to the arch. This was my first time up to the top. Tram is ingenious system. Definitely cramped, so if you are claustrophobic, this may not be for you. Views at the top are amazing. Windows are small but allow for views east and west Showing its age as there were several spots where mops were placed to mop up seeping water and looked unsightly. Overall though worth the trip.
The landmark the city hence the most important in the list of things to do.
The arc is 630 ft tall and made of steel.
There is a tram ride for 13$ that takes you on the top of the arc. The amount is not much hence its ok to get the experience
I would not pay anything more than this coz its not worth
The top has extremely small windows that give you the view from the top. I wish there were glass walls like skydeck Chicago etc for the view.
The visitor center is amazing though
Very well maintained the staff was courteous too. Security is great
The only tip is go for the experience and do not expect a lot
The Gateway Arch is universally known, and for good reason. Its an absolutely beautiful structure that looks great sun or snow.
The park at the foot of the arch was a pleasant surprise, as was the massive museum inside. The best part, however, is absolutely the tram ride. I was fortune to take this journey on a quiet day, ending up with a tram to myself. Very cool experience, and the views are simply incredible.
Impressive monument, very interesting to learn about the design and construction of the GatewayvArch as well of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Louisiana purchase and effect on North America history, and St Louis foundation and history
Great trip. While the pod is small, distracting your fellow riders with pictures makes the four minute ride to the top quick. The kids loved it. While the construction fences are coming down it is not complete. The old court house did a great job holding our interest however.
My recommendation is book for an early ride. We had 9:30 and got to the top by 10. Once there not packed at all. We were able to move freely and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a ride back down. The view from above St Louis was worth the cost and trip.
The mural behind the the theater is amazing. Definitely should not just stand by the arch. Remember to booking of tram tickets is possible online too, don't have to stand in the line to know the available timings are not meeting your need. Parking is reasonable in the city plaza.
It's a beauty to behold, BUT if you plan on a dinner river cruise to go with your tour of the Arch, you'll need to book it at least a week in advance [ONLINE ONLY].
Always have loved the view from the top of the Arch. It is so neat to see the scenery from an overhead view.
A must-see for anyone visiting St. Louis. The system is well organized to make sure you get to the top in an orderly fashion. I'd definitely recommend going early in the morning so you get tickets and don't have to wait too long. There's also a really cool museum below the Arch which is worth exploring.
A simply stunning museum comes after a magnificent entrance to the attraction, which is followed in turn by a ride in an amazing piece of engineering, all culminating in incredible views from the top. Superb presentation and execution all round.
Very nice place to visit. Museum is great as well. Pods to the top are small if you are claustrophobic, but they have one in the lobby to get an idea before you spend the time and money.
The arch was a fun and amazing experience. My nephew described it as incredible and outstanding. I would definitely do this again.
Beautiful, and interesting to learn the history of its creation. Too crowded at top to enjoy the views. Too many people don't seem to understand allowing others to see the view and instead refuse to move away. Signs are needed at the north and south bases letting you know the new entrance is actually at the street level across from the old courthouse.
I mean, it's the Gateway Arch! It's beauty, history, and architecture are second to none!
The museum is absolutely terrific. It is great for kids as well, but I suggest coming without kids as well. Go often. There is so much to see and read you may need more than one visit. The movie is amazing.
I can just set and stare at it's simple beauty. Continually changing with the light and weather, but always the same. Difficult to photograph well, but features in some excellent art.
Almost had the entire park to myself. This is a majestic piece of architecture.
Wow! A fantastic monument and a wonderful piece of architecture and engineering. Not for those who don't like enclosed spaces or heights (630' high) but so worth it for the views.
Great new park area...the view is great, and the new museum is informative and FREE
It has been probably 30 years since we were here & it's still awesome. What a sight to see.
It was my very first time in 59 years of life going up in the arch it was honestly mesmerizing I felt like I was floating on air to look out and see the lights of St Louis was like looking into Las Vegas I think everybody should visit the arch and all the other beautiful sites in Missouri has to offer especially St Louis
Fun! Go up in the cars. Old fashioned but cool. Museum was interesting.
We had a nice snack, night some souvenirs, got pictures taken and of course, visited the top of the arch. Fun day with family. I don't recommend this experience for those with difficulty walking or climbing stairs as the architecture requires both.
An amazing piece of American ingenuity. The film might be dated but it is a snapshot into the minds and vision of those who built it.
We missed the tram to the top by just four people ahead of us. I went up as a kid and remember being wowed. I'd suggest you watch the video before the ascent; it will really give you an appreciation of how special that trip up is.
I'm glad they're renovating the area. St Louis has enormous potential that is not currently being utilized. The adjacent riverfront could be a gem.
We are bought our tickets to go up in the arch and were worried because we were running late. The person scanning the tickets said it was fine you just can't be early. If you are unnerved by small spaces the tram to the top is tight but there is a window you can look out all the way up. The view was amazing.
What else can you say other "wow", the gateway to the west is symbolized with such a beautiful monument.
A least once in your life you've got to get into the pod and take the trip up to the top. A huge feat and tourist destination, the mini movie and the ride will help you imagine the changing world when this arch was created to represent the gateway to the West and the start of Route 66. You can get your tickets at the courthouse or at one of the stands on the grounds. Be prepared to walk and slow down to take in all this seemingly simple arch had to offer.
Your tickets will time stamp your entry time and give yourself an hour from that point on for the whole adventure. Get yourself a souvenir too...it's a once in a life time activity you can giggle about later.
Impressive engineering and a fair price for an impressive sight/site. Could use a better museum attached to the structure to learn about the history and construction. A little busy at the top and the glass viewing windows are pretty dirty from children pressing their faces and fingers against them
What a great experience. The view from the top is amazing.
Very nice grounds and the history museum is awesome. Very informative and rich in American and St. Louis history. I hope to visit again and hope they enrich it with more modern history. The ride up the arch is amazing for the time it was constructed as well as how it was designed on the fly.
It was cool to see the Arch. We were there on a weekend so it was a little crowded. Lines were too long so we didn t go up inside the Arch. Do yourself a favor and view the Arch from across the pond adjacent to the Arch. No one else was there and viewing it and its reflection in the pond was beautiful.
Manmade Marvel at it's finest. Once in a lifetime experience of riding a cable car inside a monument. The top made me a little giddy but definitely worth the trip.
Go an hour before the sun sets for the best pics! So beautiful!
Great place to visit for tourists. There's an incredible Museum about St Louis as the Gateway to the West. The museum is part of the Arch National Park. From the museum you go and get into small capsules and rotate up the arch like a Giant Wheel. Once up top you can look through several rectangular porthole windows on either side of the arch and look out over St Louis or the Mississippi River.
The museum below the arch is modern, detailed, and interesting detailing the founding of St. Louis, the American migration westward, and the construction of the Arch. There is a 30 minute movie for $7, a small cafe, as well as riverboat tours and a trip up to the top of the arch. The gift store is one of the best national park stores I've seen. Be warned that you do have to go through a security checkpoint almost on par with the TSA.
Great site. Wish I could have gone inside but.due to the government shutdown it didn't happen. It was still great to walk around.
Loved it! Has a free Museum and many other things to do.
Must watch the documentary they show on building the arch. It is amazing. The museum is awesome too.
I have been here a few times, this was the first time I went at night. Less busy at night and amazing views.
very clean, updated national park.. very friendly staff gave a warm welcome to my first time in st louis
It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been i loved going there I would suggest going there for a trip but it does cost you money to go up in the Arch
Got tickets online, got there early and walked the grounds a little, very well kept and pretty. Wait to go to the top was minimal. The history was pretty interesting, but the tiny cars to go up are hilarious, so 60's. The ride up was quick and smooth, the view from the top is awesome, the city and river looks very cool from 630' up. Ride back down was even quicker, 3ish mins.
great museum. interactive and traditional. great info. great displays.
Worth 5 just for the ride!
The small pods make the whole event fun.. surprised how much the arch seats at the top. Great views through the small windows. Good job on the history too
Beautiful scenes! The museum, the arch, the architecture, the history of this place is amazing. Put it on your list to visit. There is a lot to do and see on St. Louis, you wont regret it!
Enjoyed the new museum! Great learning opportunity. Love the new set up. So much space to spread out.
Beautiful landmark! Definitely worth walking around!
Beautiful! I dont think I'd do the ride to the top again because from the point of giving my ticket to actually riding to the top was about an hour wait. Other than that great!
Last visited 18 years ago. love the updates to the welcome center.
History at it's best. Extremely interesting! Could stay an suck in wealth of history displayed. Great view of the old Mississippi River. Very relaxing, enjoyable visit.
It's a must see. A grand masterpiece. You have to pay to get in the arch. But theres a museum that's free. The view is awesome from the top. The ride up is a little tight. If you are afraid of small spaces, just close your eye and keep calm. Sound scary but it's not. Parking is a hike no matter where you go.
Very enjoyable, lots to see and to experience, definitely worth it
Great American history! Maybe not the best place.for really young children but if they can read and enjoy history this is a great place.
Awesome since they did renovations. The new paths are beautiful. Great for picnics, running/ walking, or just getting fresh air down my three Mississippi river.
The museum is very detailed. The tram ride to the top of the Arch is pretty exciting. There is a cafe onsite and easy parking nearby.
Lots of fun, great views. Rangers were attentive and friendly. Thanks for the memories!
The arch itself and the surrounding area was very beautiful. But down by the river boat rides it was extremely dirty with built-up sand, trees built up that had floated down the river. Trash of every sort plastic bottles aluminum cans. Trash cans had not been emptied and could not tell how long.
The box cars you go up & down in are a little small. Also the museum portion is free & interesting if you enjoy any type of history.
The most amazing thing I've ever seen. It's massive. Beautiful.
I haven't visited the Arch for many years, but they have redone the inside, and there are lots of new exhibits, things to do, the movie about the construction of the Arch is first class. You can spend the day here if you wish and walk to the river.
Awesome experience to learn about the history of the Gateway Arch, and ride to the top to enjoy the beautiful views of all of St Louis and the surrounding area.
Nice that Children 12 and under free to go up in Arch. Adults were $14 Have to schedule a time to visit Arch and print off passes.
Well worth the time to visit and take the ride to the top of the arch. The film about how the arch was built is very informative. The view from the top of the arch is breathtaking. If your uncomfortable with small, tight spaces you may want to pass on the ride to the top, as it requires riding in a small elevator car.
The new museum is interesting and you can easy spend 3 hours there.
Must see! But sadly the museum below is not nearly as good as it used to be. To politically correct to truthfully portray the western expansion and the Lewis and Clark expedition
If you're passing by, have never been to the arch, and have time to stop, check out this amazing piece of architecture. A simple tour of the arch is inexpensive and takes roughly 45 minutes. The arch is spectacular from the interstate but even more amazing when standing directly under the arch. The view from the top is breathtaking and allows for some great photo opportunities of the city below. The ride to the top is a unique experience as well.
What a classic spot to visit if you are ever passing through St. Louis. When entering, the Gateway Arch will greet you with open arms. It marks the start of adventure for so many and is just waiting to be a part of your story.
You have to wait in line a long time in before you actually get up in the in early summer on the weekend. It was packed at the top also so your couldn't walk around much.. Bit the view was awesome.
This place was AWFUL. First, the ticket counter CHARGED me for my ticket, then the girl with the broken leg refused to walk me to the tram, and most aggravating is that the tour guide talked at me for like 10 minutes. Just kidding! Friendly staff and a really cool ride to the top! Would highly recommend!
One of the places (Point of Interests) that'd deserve more than 5 stars. Not only the structure itself is breath taking, but the view from the top, and the very interesting and detailed set of historical information found inside are totally unique, as well. Highly recommended, I'd say it's a must whenever you have a chance to visit. Some waiting is possible as the capacity inside is limited.
It's landmark structure of St.Louis, M.O, a beautiful man made steel structural arch made of strainless steel. This arch stands majestically with a passage taking people through a tram to the top of the arch @630ft, we get a beautiful view of the city.
It's a tight ride up but great views at the top. Be sure do do the movie in the theater. It's a great history of the effort. They didn't light the arch until 10 p.m. I would not recommend going to the levy area at night. Stay on the old capital side at night.
Typical and basic national landmark site. Of course you are going to see it.
One of the lesser know monuments, the Arch is a beautiful piece of architecture. You can take a small life all the way up to 600 feet. The views might not be as great as Empire State or Willis tower but from down to up it looks a marvelous feet of art. A must watch for St. Loius.
Gotta see it to believe it. Honestly, I didn't think I wanted to see this from the inside - until I Did! I'm so glad the group I was with outvoted me. To think I would of missed the view that was educational & beautiful. Take a 4 minute Ride to the top in a 5 passenger egg shaped car & witness a view of Missouri from every angle (beautiful State by the way) history plaques are strewn about so you can really understand what you are viewing.
I was there 10 years ago. So much more to see the elevators the entrance the shininess of the outside.
The hole place seemed to have changed for the better.
If you seen it years ago you got to go back again !
Incredible. It makes you feel so small. The curve is really cool!
