Forget the Arch. Head right or left and find the good stuff. South is the art wall and it goes on for miles. There s a ton of awesome tags and murals from very talented artists. It s my favorite thing about this city. If only they would extend the wall to the north. Speaking of north that way is the riverfront bike trail. Excellent ride and swings by a bald eagle nesting site.

All the renovations are great. Had a great day. I had Elizabeth as my tour guide. she was fun, and full of interesting information about the arch. I would recommend anyone coming to St Louis to take the time and visit.

This is an incredible piece of architecture and engineering that everyone should stop and see. The grounds around it are perfect for picnicking and lazing around. Parking is a few blocks away, but there are great sights on the way and you get different looks at the arch. Since my last visit 14 years ago, the museum has been redone and it is engaging and informative. We didn't ride to the top this time, but the ticket price is reasonable and the view is worth every penny. If you just drive by, you're missing out!

An amazing place to visit. The tram ride is definitely an experience! Be prepared to share the tram with strangers if you have a group of less than 5, but it's a neat way to meet a talk to new people for a few minutes. The view from the top is really cool, but we probably spent more time riding up than looking at the view. Still, to be able to say you've been there and done that is pretty cool. They have an amazing gift shop, too.

The arch is far more impressive than I ever thought it would be. However, I didn't bother to go up in it. I wouldn't mind going back, but I probably won't make it a priority unless I'm with someone who hasn't been there yet.

St. Louis itself is beautiful, detailed, and possesses an immense historical depth. Seeing it from a tiny window doesn't do it justice... Unless you just like skylines. I chose to use my money and time experiencing the city from below. Whatever way you choose to experience STL, you'll be good. Just watch out for high-crime areas.

This is a must do for anyone near St. Louis!! I reccommend the trip to the top and the movie so you can here the history of the Arch and watch its construction. Buy your tickets in advance to ensure you get to partake at arrival.

Great grounds. Inexpensive price for the tram to the top. Great views. Great Westward Expansion Museum (free). Short lines in off season & early mornings. Long walks from all parking. Claustrophobic or acrophobic? May want to skip unless you're challenging your fears.

I expected the top of the arch to be bigger. Very narrow at the top. Maybe 3 people shoulder to shoulder wide. Windows are tiny to look out of. Do not tour if you are claustrophobic or scared of heights!

Would recommend taking a guided tour of the park instead of just going up into the arch to see St Louis. The only thing that made the visit unpleasant was one of the security personnel. I'm sure it gets annoying having to say the same thing multiple times every day but that comes with that type of job. There were people who didn't speak English and the guy was screaming at them to take off their coats and belts. He had these people shaking in fear but he wasn't doing this just to the foreigners. He was an equal opportunity jerk because was rude to everyone who passed him. If you can handle being screamed at for about 3 minutes and not let it bother you, the arch is a fantastic experience.

What an amazing structure. It is more impressive in person than in photos. Put this at the top of your list if you are visiting St. Louis! A word of warning, if you plan to take the train ride to the top it can be claustrophobic and the top can be disorienting as well as you stand on a curved floor.

Visited the arch first time more than 4 years ago. The difference between then and now is like light and day. With the new renovated grounds, the museum this place feels so much better now.
I haven't even gotten to the tram ride to the top of the arch which is such a cool experience. Currently the tram rides are 13/person.
It's best to book in advance during weekends especially in summer when it's rather busy.

What a beautiful area of the city. I love walking laps or running around the area and the grounds. It is so pleasant, green, and clean. Going up in the Gateway Arch is a lot of fun, and the view is amazing. The museum is also very comprehensive and interesting with highly educational exhibits.

This is a great national park but it is NOT handicap accessible for sure. You can plan on parking a long distance from the entrance. If you can't do stairs or are claustrophobic you will not like it.

This was one of our favorite stops on our road trip up to the northern states. There's a little root beer truck near the river that sells the most delicious root beer. We did not get to go into the arch unfortunately because it was in construction when we drove through St. Louis that year, but it was still a great site to see and photograph.

First time inside the arch and it was cool. We bought our tickets online to save a spot and ensure we could get it into our schedule. The tram ride up and down is in a very tight egg like capsule. We probably spent 15 minutes up top looking out and taking pictures. Definitely a good experience.

Loved loved loved this park! My fiance and I visited here on a saturday and it was an absolutely beautiful day. We paid $6 for parking, to park near the Arch (which was well worth it). We walked around the park and near the Arch. We were not able to actually go up in the arch but I myself had already been up in it twice before over the years. I would definitely recommend visiting!!!

Really cool. This thing is actually impressive as far as monuments go. The museum is awesome if slightly boring. The little cafeteria is nifty as well. The elevator ride was interesting for sure and if you get claustrophobic don't do it. Seriously. But at the top the view is crazy. Take lots of pictures. (PS: if you're new to the monument the entrance is on the city side of the arch.)

The view is amazing!! The architecture is stunning. The tram ride on the other hand, is old, super small and a tiny bit rickety. The lookout area at the top of the arch is VERY small as well! Thankfully we were only up there with 5 other people! The group that came in after us had about 25-30 people in it! I think people would feel very cramped if there was much more then 10-15 people. Our guide was really hard to understand and hear as well. We only caught about a 1/4 of what he was saying. The museum and gift shop were nice and updated. Overall the experience we had was fun and we were really lucky that it wasn't busy at all!

Very cool. You enter through TSA style security (empty pockets into a bin, walk through a metal detector) so be sure to factor that into your timing. You'll also want to buy your tickets in advance to be sure you can get a ride up. I once went with some folks who didn't realize this and we got there only to find the day was sold out. There are concessions, a gift shop, and a free museum in the base of the arch.

The trip up involves using narrow stairs to access the cars and top room. You also must be able to literally climb into these small cars which have little doors- it is definitely not accessible for folks with limited mobility and tall people will have a hard time fitting in. I'm about 5'7" and have to keep my neck bent a little to keep my head from hitting the ceiling. There are tour guides who tell some history about the arch and then send you on up.

Once you get to the top, you're allowed to stay as long as you'd like which is nice. There is air conditioning but be forewarned that it can be pretty hot, especially with all the people. I've never been outside of the summer but definitely suggest trying to go earlier in the day to avoid the heat. The top room feels sort of like being in an airplane without seats and it does get crowded. But the view is beautiful with windows on both sides and it's a unique experience. It definitely should be on any must-see list for StL.

The museum was beautiful! The entrance was strikingly modern, and displays were so vivid and detailed, I almost felt like I was at an exhibit in a sci-fi film.

Unfortunately, we hadn't remembered to schedule an appointment to ride up to the top! We arrived at noon and the soonest available trip was at 3:30. Plan ahead! St. Louis was just a stop along the way for us, so we didn't get a chance to go up.

A good place to visit. Clean and cold inside and the prices are not that high. A ride to the upper level is only about 14 dollars. Note that you should try to preorder the tram tickets. Just in case they sell out. The museum (free!) Is small but worth the time. It is for both kids and adults. It is also possible to watch a movie about the arch and I would recommend that since it will tell you a bit about the history of the arch.

Ok but tight in a lot of places. Pods original to arch. The museum is new since it was added a year ago as a national park. Openings to teams are 4ft tall and 5 seats in each tram. Kids that are free are to sit on laps. Walls and floors covered in berber carpet. Windows are the size of shoe boxes. Floor to ceiling is about 6ft 4inces.

If you are planning to visit St Louis, this is the place to go first. Highly recommended. Do go there earlier in the day time so that you can get the tickets n go at the top of the Arch. The view at the top is just phenomenal.

The gateway arch is always a wonder to see. The museum has changed alot with the renovations. The stories now told are about all the peoples affected by the move west, both positive and negative. I am sorry to see such a small portion of the museum dedicated to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which opened the west for Americans.

When you want eat french fries that will survive a nuclear war,

Don't seek out a tourist attraction that is quite the lore,

Illinois has corn farms & corrupt politicians galore,

But MO is the place that Honest Abe referred to when he said Four Score

You need to walk under the arch to really appreciate the scale of just how big it is. While impressive from a distance, it's awesome up close. There is a lot of green space walking area around it. Very clean and safe environment. There are also lots of other things to see and do within walking distance. This is a must see if you've never been to St Louis.

The Riverboat Magic cruise was very nice. Great atmosphere and the drink were good and strong. It's always nice to be downtown and see the Arch. I recommend this event, its cost efficient and a great outing!

Loved the movie explaining how this arch was built. Some smart folks did it right. And yes, the view was nice. Just be ready for a long wait to get up there. It was really pretty efficient for the number of people wanting to go to the top.

Since the opening of the museum it has been great. Kids enjoyed learning about the arch. Price is reasonable to ride the tram up. They have a nice theater that shows a brief history of how the arch came to be. Always the fudge in the gift shop is the best! Entrance to the arch now facing opposite the courthouse, it is no longer the legs ofthe arch those are now exits. A beautiful place to stop by if you are in the St. Louis area.

Less than $15 to go to the top and get access to the museum. You can stay up on the arch until the park closes at 6. Friendly staff, good directions, great accommodations. The arch is way larger than you would expect! Impressive! Clean buildings and outside park. Parking is tricky though.

One of the top national monuments that I've ever been to across the whole world. The Gateway Arch is a truly stunning feat of architectural prowess, symbolizing America's westward expansion. Highly recommend the movie about the making of the Arch, has a old-timey flair for the dramatic, and is really enjoyable. I've been here many time with friends, family, kids and they all had a great time. A must if you are in the St. Louis area!
