Great staff but tight space going up makes me anxious
The architecture and the idea is so cool and futuristic. But, our tour guide/s were very young and not very interested or passionate about the arch which made it a bit blah, they also.didn't assign us a pod. Also, the very top is soooooo crowded and congested.
Yes, the ride up is cramped but it's also quick--and the view from the top is well worth it!! This really is at the top of the list of things to do in St. Louis!
The staff was helpful and full of knowledge. Historical, only wish we'd been able to spend more time.
4 minutes of terror or joy from the bottom to the top. Either way, totally worth it. If its windy be ready for the sway.
It was very nice but there is small elevators, but otherwise it was a great experience.
Riding up the arch made me feel like I was in Willy Wonka's great glass elevator.
An experience of a lifetime!! Something you will never forget
Famous arch of St. Louis built in 1960. Free to visit but if you want to go on top you have to buy tickets for that. Around the arch you can walk take pictures play frisbee .And enjoy the day go for ferry ride. Nice place to visit.
Great place to visit. the new entrance is way more convenient. If you want to ride the tram to the top PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE BEFORE YOU GET THERE!!! They sell out quickly, or at best you may have to wait 2 hours to ride.
This is a fantastic place to take your family. The tram rides are reasonably cost less than $20 per person, but the museum is free and there's lots to see. If you have never experienced the arch make sure you cross it off your bucket list!
5 stars if I had been actually allowed to go to the top. Turns out...the only reason for our stay in st Louis was closed down because of Trump AKA the toddler inn the white house had a temper tantrum and stopped paying our federal employees.
But that's not their fault that we have an incompetent "leader". It was beautiful From the outside. Rather impressive!!
Amazing place to see! I've wanted to come here for a long time and so happy I did! Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the parking. Very hard to find a parking spot along the road and if there aren't any open, you have to drive pretty much around a couple blocks to get back around. We almost gave up, but so glad we didn't!
I have wanted to visit the Gateway Arch forever and it was not a disappointment. Everything was smooth especially buying tickets ahead time so you don't have to wait in line. Allow a couple of hours to go to the top of the arch and visit the information inside including a movie.
I liked that I was able to buy tickets online ahead of time, but couldn t access them when we needed to because there was no cell service nor WiFi!! (Since your underground)
We really enjoyed the new layout. The grounds are beautiful. However, it s not obvious where the entrance is and many people were just wandering around asking each other where it was.
FYI..it s not at either leg of the Arch. Those doors are exit only. Entrance is on the opposite side from the river. If you re not walking towards it from straight on, it s very easy to miss because it s underground. (Even though it s quite large.)
Parking was kind of a pain & not easily handicapped accessible.
Enjoyed the museum exhibits & the Arch. Though they need to be better organized in waiting for the tram going up. Considering you buy your tickets for a specific time, I was surprised that it was such a hassle.
I know I mentioned many negatives, but overall we had a great day visiting the Gateway Arch!
Great to see this amazing sculpture rising from downtown St Louis.
An amazing architecture, i didnt have high hopes given then modern architecture has advanced around the world. But this truly is a landmark to behold
It a must see an engineering marvel built in the 60's. I never knew that there was a team that would take you to the top AMAZING!!! This view is from the observation deck
Note: The Arch is now a national park, but if you have The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass it will not cover the entrance fee to the Arch, you will get a small discount though if you present your pass.
In 2018 they did a big refurbishment job on the Arch and it definitely shows.
Everything was pristine and beautiful. The museum under the arch was a great exhibit of the historical importance St. Louis has in American history. The museum had great info on the arch itself, and really makes you appreciate the architectural marvel that it is.
The tram to the top is such a unique experience, and the view from the top is pretty awesome.
Worth it. I HIGHLY suggest you buy tickets online before coming. Once you get there there you're STUCK underground...with no cell signal. You can't see the beautiful park or anything. Design fail. The view from the top is nice though.
The Gateway Arch to West is one incredible structure. It is 630 feet tall made of stainless steel. It is world s tallest arch. The construction was completed in 1965. You can go at the top of the arch as well by a tram. The entry and tram ride to the top costs just $13. The view from the top of the arch is just awesome.
Have always loved the beauty of the Arch. Now I get to share it with my young kids.
Beautiful view but if your clausterphobic the ride up in the tram might not be for you
Awe inspiring. Wish the entire complex had been open. Great gift shop though!
Beautiful & surreal in the arch & beautiful out side of the arch. Take a lazy day sit on the lawn, put your hands in the grass & enjoy with amazement looking up at this Great monument or get up & throw a Frisbee, either way it will be great.
I hadn't been to the Gateway Arch since before the recent renovations. With the recent changes, the Arch seems much nicer. The entrance is very nice and very organized. The instructions by security was clear and went by fast.
After walking down some stairs or taking an elevator guest are greeted by a wonderful new museum that I great with interacting and has a lot of history from the surrounding area. Near the end of the museum is a wonderful giftshop and cafeteria and, for those who bought an elevator ticket, there are organized lines to access a small tour and elevator ride to the top of the arch.
it s just a big metal arch, but the views from the top were cool I guess
Iconic piece of Midwestern architecture. The Arch itself is beautiful. The structure seems to almost fade away depending on the viewing angle due to the metal used. Not a ton to due around it though. We just parked on the side road right in front for about 15 min.
Easy parking, an education on the move West to open up more of the U.S.
This destination is in a beautiful spot right on the side of the Mississippi River. It is also directly adjacent to downtown St. Louis. Lots to do there and really good restaurants. We've all seen pictures of it but nothing compares to seeing it in person. My wife immediately said "It is a sight to behold." There is no parking at the arch itself but there are nearby parking structures and metered street parking. Once inside the museum and gift shop are free to visit. Taking the tram up costs of course. We really enjoyed visiting.
Beautiful view. Need to book before you get there. We got there and the tram was all booked out
Awesome experience. Movie is boring skip that, however museum which is free was awesome!!! You can do all of this and gift shop in under 2 hrs.
We came on a Monday and it wasn't busy at all. Every employee we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The gift shop was very reasonably priced.
Great place to visit! Definitely a place to check out!! Would have given this 5 stars but the way Google maps was taking me to get there was flooded. There weren't any clearly marked detours so it was quite difficult to get there, but it was definitely worth the trip!
Such a great architectural masterpiece. The grounds are beautiful. The museum is free. Only cost is to ride to the top for the spectacular views.
Love the renovation! What a joy to be able to walk directly from the old courthouse to the Arch! The new entrance is modern and beautiful.
Wonderful experience. The views from the top of the arch are AWESOME. The people were great.
The Arch is magnificent up close!!! Parking is a little tricky but easy once you find it. Once you're in the main lobby make sure to go through security and downstairs to visit the museum, cafe and gift shop, its all FREE!!!! The park that surrounds the Arch has been updated last year and is really pretty. There are a lot of shaded grassy areas to sit and paved trails to walk or ride the rental scooters that are readily available. You can buy tickets to ride to the top of the Arch there or online. The lines to go up do grow the later in the day it gets. The park sits along the Mississippi River. Have fun!
The improvements to the surrounding grounds are nice. It was great having the fair back at the arch grounds this year. This location is far better than Forest Park. It is so easy to get to the arch from the metro link station now that the unsightly parking structure has been remodeled into a nice green space. The bridge circling part of this green space nearest the river is very cool (literally) as it allows airflow and views of the river because of its design. I m excited to see the renovations inside the arch museum.
I honestly didnt know this was a national park. But it was cool to see the museum and gift shop on the lower level. Didnt have time to take the tram up to the top or to let the kids earn their ranger badges. But it was great to see behind the scenes how it was thought to come about, designed and built. Really cool!
Great time. Don't be claustrophobic or afraid if heights.
A must see in St. Louis Missouri. The view from this place is a great memory to have.
Good experience and great place to take pictures. The trams sometimes run behind so if you are trying to be at the top on a schedule consider getting team tickets with a buffer time.
A wonderful experience, a little rough going up But very easy coming down
It's so beautiful! It is a must see! The museum is gorgeous, the arch is a work of art that every enthusiast needs too see and experience! With their wonderful tour and reasonable pricing and, lest we forget, the incredible food. I will definitly be going back!
The new Archway park.. is awesome.. updated and modernised to accommodate more people.. nice walkways.. grass to picnic and relax on.. The museum is also new and ramped up.. more exhibits... more interactive.. and a fresh look on the history of St Louis. .
National Park, amazing architectural marvel. Make sure you see the movie!
Family and I had a blast! Checked out the arch, museum, and finished with the riverboat tour!
It was much better then I expected, it was well worth the wait of construction. The museum provides a lot of info on many different interesting events in st. Louis and missouri. There's a food court right next to it to feed the whole family. Go up in the unique egg shape elevator to see the city and the biggest river in america from a whole new perspective!!
Super cool experience! It is worth it to go all the way up
From beginning to end this was a great place to visit. We watched a short film on how the arch was built. We then took the trolly up to the top where the views were spectacular. We spent about 20 minutes up there. One one side Missouri and across the Mississippi river was the southern most part of Illinois. The museum was great but we didn't spend to much time there. I would definitely recommend checking this off your bucket list!
Loved it, great exhibit and view from the top. Wish the pictures they took weren't so expensive.
Great place to visit. Just do yourself a BIG favor and get your tickets online for when you anticipate your arrival time. Ticket purchases at the location may have a several hour wait until you can goto top.
First time being here and it was a experience I will never forget. Drove from Wisconsin to visit with friends and family. We all had a blast and enjoyable time. The prices were decent! The pod ride up the arch was intense! Loved it! Getting on top and looking through the windows was awesome and with that many people up there I'm surprised the arch was still standing . There is a lot to do inside the arch with he family. It is a must see! Check out the beautiful pictures I captured!
This place is awesome! It was just re-opened in July, 2018 after a huge remodel, we visited right after it re-opened. It was so hot outside but fully air-conditioned inside, that was the best!! Lots of cool history exhibits under the arch! There was so much more, we only made it through 2 sections before we had to get in line for our tram ride up to the top. We stood in line for longer than expected. You buy your tickets when you first enter the building for a specific time to get on the tram, we got ours for an hour later than it was when we went in, thinking that would be plenty of time. After you get your tickets you go through security and then you can go through the exhibit and go into the shop or deli. They said to get in line for the ride up 5 minutes before the time on your ticket, which we did, but then we stood in the line for an hour. The kids got really bored, If we had known it was going to take that long, one of us would have stood in line while the other parent walked around with the kids or grabbed them a snack at the deli until time to go up. Once up at the top it is an awesome view all around! Really cool experience!
There was a huge museum filled with loads of interesting history! They even have knick knacks and tools from the earlier days when the arch was being built. The only complaint. The ride up the arch was bumpy and scary. A crampt elevator. But it is all worth it because of the view.
It was a wonderful experience. We got the historical explanation and then we went up. No bad for those tiny elevators. Once at the top, the views for west and east of St. Louis were incredible.
A must do for everyone at least one time. It was a great family experience.
Great place, an iconic landmark. Tram ride might disappoint you if you have already visited 360 or skywalk, still you can go once. Park area is very nice specially in evening and best part is it s free. Buy your ticket online as if is very busy in summers.
Its hard to find parking, but its a cool place to stop and look around. If you go up into the arch, the veiw is amazing. There is not much to do, and alot of walking, so if the concept of a park is mot something you enjoy, then this isnt for you. Otherwise, very cool.
What an awesome place to visit. It was worth going inside and going to the top even with the payment. It was wonderful to see the Mississippi River from above and have books like Huckleberry Finn and Percy Jackson The Titan s Curse come alive to me. The elevator could affect you if you are claustrophobic, but overall, it is awesome.
Great monument to experience in Missouri. It s great to hear the history & the building of the Arch.
The family and I had a lot of fun. I highly recommend visiting. Just get a hotel not in downtown.
Remodeled and sleek looking! I haven't been here since the museum update but it is very nice! Clean, safe, and efficient...There are interesting new exhibits to see so St. Louis natives have something to look forward to if we have to bring someone to the Arch. I was confused at first as to how to get in, but the signs lead the way. The new entrance is in a picture-esque spot and not hard to access. For added fun, rent a scooter and speed around the base and the surrounding park!
Parking is insane. Crowds were insane. Maybe better to not visit on a holiday weekend.
Love the arch, it is beautiful and amazing. The only problem I had was that I found it very hard to find the entrance. When approaching from the side, you don't see the building underneath the hill. Limited signage. I will go again! Loved most of the experience!
It s really worth to visit. Excellent engineering. you can go from one tram and exit from another tram. As much as you can stay at top of 630 feet. suggest to book the ticket three hours prior to visit through online or you can take the ticket on the counter but you have to wait at least three hours.
Intro of arch:
The Arch was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen in 1947; construction began on February 12, 1963 and was completed on October 28, 1965 at an overall cost of $13 million (equivalent to $80.6 million in 2018). The monument opened to the public on June 10, 1967. It is located at the site of St. Louis's founding on the west bank of the Mississippi River.
We stopped on our honeymoon and sadly the team was sold out but we did enjoy the rest of the area. We are definitely planning on coming back and will plan ahead next time. We did get some awesome pictures and great souvenirs. This is definitely a must stop location.
Museum and plaza are absolutely amazing. Viewing at top is a complete cluster that has way too many people at a time and is horribly managed. Save the money and enjoy it from the ground.
Lost it's personal feel with the redesign. Now it just feels like a money grab. If you've never been you won't be the wiser but for the locals, stay away now
There was much more here than I anticipated.
The museum was fun and informative.
The arch itself was a fun trip to the top, with a cool view.
Absolutely stunning. The staff was amazing. The place was so clean. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would!!
Had lots of info. Couldn't go on the tram because u have to clin 90 steps and that's to much for me. They need to figure a way to help handicap people, cause I'm sure they would like to go up too. They didn't think when they rebuilt it. I give 5 stars across the board if they fixed that.
Since my husband and I are both engineers we enjoyed learning how the arch was built and were glad we purchased the movie ticket along with the ride to the top. The elevator to the top is cramped with 5 people in each pod thing but well worth it. The views are amazing! However, I would not recommend if you are scared of heights! The museum is full of information and worth spending at least and hour looking through everything. After the arch I would recommend walking over to the capital to see it and get some amazing pictures.
Really cool attraction, the lift and top are pretty small, so go when it's not too busy.
This was a fabulous place to visit while in St. Louis. I haven't been here in a long time, and it was great to see how the park has changed. As sad as the flooding is, it was nice to see how high it was compared to historic floods over the past 100-years or so. If we weren't in a hurry we would have loved to take a ride up in The Arch. Also, a word of warning, parking was a bit difficult to find.
