Fun to visit enjoyable to look out of top observation windows great memory for the kids
Interesting and informative well worth the visit and we will be back again.
Gateway to the west. Great views from the top. Excellent small museum at the bottom. A must see in St. Louis!
4 minute ride in a tiny 5 seater pod/tram to the top. If you are claustrophobic they advise against. I hit my head trying to sit up while inside. Great view when you make it to the top. The sunset was breathtaking. Tram comes and goes every 10 mins. You can walk the museum before or after. I found (back into) pay street parking right across the from the entrance.
Although we weren't able to go up into the arch, it was worth visiting during the summer. There was a lot of construction when we visited but we enjoyed looking up at the arch from below and taking the requisite photos before leaving. We found that there was only junk food available nearby, so don't go around mealtimes. Very busy during the summer.
Been there; done that. Took a long time to get up to the top. Got up there and it was packed! Be forewarned- do not go here if you re claustrophobic. The view is better from the bottom.
My husband and i came hear on a road trip after we got married.. It wad really nice to see and also ride in the Golden Arch we were literally like 500 feet in the air amazing experience beautiful view
Great place for vist, park near by the arch is bit costly
Was an absolutely beautiful day visiting the arch. There are so many things to do around the arch, from the riverboat tour, helicopter tours, carriage rides, courthouse tours, food stands, arch museum, the arch documentary film, and let's not forget getting to ride to the top of the arch in the trams! It was plenty of fun. The grounds around the arch are absolutely beautiful. There are also some cute little restaurants nearby as well if you would like to sit down to eat.
This is fun. Even if you don't go to the free museum, which is fantastic and interesting as well as informative, the monument itself is just amazing to be able to walk up to and touch and bask in its bigness. This is THE thing to do in St Louis. MAKE TIME to enjoy this national wonder.
It was amazing. I didn't realize there was a museum underground that you get to walk through before boarding a pod that takes you to the top.
WOW! Just, WOW!! If it's not on your bucket list, it should be!! Amazing place! The staff and facility are great. Much more impressive in person than I ever imagined!
The trams are extremely small. The door to the trams are only 4 ft tall. I am 5'8. Inside the tram is not much if at all taller than 4ft. There are a few flights of stairs to go up and down to and from.the tram. I am a large woman, plus plus size. I did okay with the stairs but it was not "easy". The end result was not worth the waiting, stair climbing, and cramped tram ride up.
Great thing to experience just make sure the kids are old enough to appreciate it. Lmao
Pretty crazy up at the top. Amazing how far you can see. Your really high up and you can actually feel the wind blowing this huge monument back and forth. Pretty crazy. Well worth the ticket and ride up. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
Took grandkids for their first trip and they enjoyed very much.
Very cool but really long wait even with pre-ordered tickets. Ride to top is in a small egg shaped vehicle that fits 5 people. Not for the claustrophobic!!!
The view up there is AMAZING. My only complainy are that the little pods they transport you up in are small (Not friendly to people like me over 6 feet tall), it can occasionally get a bit crowded at the top, and the building sways a bit in the wind, though there is nothing to be done about the last one considering every tall building does that. Overall, it was a memory that won't be forgotten any time soon, and is well worth visiting if you don't mind small spaces or heights too much.
Nice monument to watch...must visit place ..sunset time will be good .Mississippi river front view is treat to watch
The rest of St. Louis was fantastic. Missouri is a great state. This was about as boring a stop as you can imagine, though. Not worth the time. Definitely not worth the cost.
It's just one of those things you hear about as just " a really cool place to visit" but that's a major understatement. The Arch is an engineering marvel even if it was built in the 60's. It's taller than you can ever Imagine and it's curve looks so unstable yet there it is. I would recommend coming here if you want to tour the Midwest or America.
Very chill. Don't go up. Not worth it. But it looks great and museum is cool.
You have to go up once in your life... but it us claustrophobic up there with as many people as they pack in. However the museum down below is amazing. the displays are really well done and informative. good for all ages, definitely give yourself time in the museum
The arch itself is a pretty tourist place to visit. It s a little pricey to go up but definitely worth it. My main reason for reviewing though is Miss Mary Ann at the front desk. She was absolutely delightful and answer so many questions about St. Louis as well as gave us plenty of pamphlets and gave us more exciting things to do.
A well managed NPS place, like all NPS properties. The lift system that takes people to the to is amazing and view from top is really cool. Did get some wonderful shots of STL from there.
Probably my favorite monument. The Gateway Arch is just a marvel of engineering and architecture. While there make sure you go to see the movie about how it was built. Screenings are in the underground part of the complex which also houses a visitor center and access to the elevator going to the observatory. The surrounding park and the riverfront are beautiful and just perfect for a nice day out! If you need parking check out the access to the street going along the river beneath the Arch which I believe is free.
Under construction while there, but am iconic beauty nonetheless. The park is designed beautifully.
An awesome landmark for sure. The museum is a historical marval as it shows all facets of the land's history before, during, and after the construction of the arch. Will definitely be visiting again if I am in the area.
This has to be a "must" consideration with being downtown. The old courthouse, the old Cardinals ball field, and The Arch. Built in 1962, finished in '63,. While reservations are REQUIRED to go up into it, while you're waiting to go up, there is a lengthy museum to visit underground, with factual history, eye-catching cinematography and holo-graphic overlays that even the youngest kid and kid-at-heart (like me!) will find engaging and entertaining. There are a multitude of gift shops, souvenir stands, and clothing to be acquired while their, but no food or drink. This is understandable since none are permitted once up inside this awe-inspiring arch. If you're going to be in Missouri, then plan to see this monument!
It has been years since I ve been here.
It was nice to go back to the gateway and revisit the history.
When something is in your own back yard you tend to neglect the beautiful things about it.
What a great weekend getaway for our family! The facility itself was clean and modern and well organized. We bought our tickets ahead of time and came an hour early. Parking was a bit tricky but not bad. Beautiful walk to the arch, killed some time in the museum beforehand and had a great experience at the top!
Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice monument and the museum inside is informative and interactive. Nice park outside to enjoy the view.
Very huge. You will get outpouring of moving. And don' miss tram of arch. It's very fun.
The museum remodel is stunning. Beautiful, engaging exhibits and plenty of easy-to-navigate space. The wait between your ticketed time and actually going up inside the arch has changed; now it s a longer wait in the ticketing line, but once you re taken in with your seating group, it s only about 5 minutes (used to be over an hour). The new gift shop is a knockout, too - I highly recommend the peanut butter fudge.
Omgoodness I had an awesome time...great renovation
Great Architecture and Engineering. Loved the place
Love history. It was a very interesting and laid out for easy access and learning.
I had a great visit to the arch with my daughter. I was impressed at how easy it was to find our way through the visitors center. Everything was impeccably clean and well-kept. We had a fantastic visit and can't wait to return on our next trip!
Wonderful, had a great time explaining history. Everyone should see this once.
Wasn't expecting the whole museum downstairs. Loved it .
So Awesome! I brought my 80 yr old parents that acted like they didn't want to ride up.... but it's all they're talking about!
Spectacular view from beneath the behemoth. What a beauty.
The arch is so beautiful, unique shape, and they do a great job letting you take a team up to the top. It's really neat to experience. The documentary is SO COOL to see and understand just how dangerous it was to build and how much work it was! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
It had been a while since we've been here. The renovation looks great with lots of room and "flowing" exhibits.
Keep an eye on your stuff while going thru the security checkpoint. The personnel working there the day were visited would place the bins in ANY available space regardless of the order they came out of the scanning machine. I had to pick up my stuff from two different places. If it had been busier, anyone could have walked off with someone else's stuff easily.
This was my first visit since the renovation, and I have to say they did a fantastic job. Really attractive space.
Been years since I was here. Brought my children to see this after picking them up from summer camp. The museum is awesome. The lines to ride the Tram up were long but very well organized. Totally worth the waits.
Absolutely beautiful grounds. Park and landscaping were recently renovated. The museum is under ground and is in the process of being renovated. Security was quick and efficient. The view from the top was everything I had hoped it would be!
Great adventure! I'm sure kids would love it. Spectacular views and picture opportunities!
Excellent view and large gift shop. Good family experience.
Beautiful. You can go on top of the arch. And the muesuem is amazing.
Nicely run, not a good place to visit if you get claustrophobic. Very warm at the top due to so many people but the museum was nice and we enjoyed the movie.
This is a lovely place to visit, actually a must-see. Even if you are afraid of heights it's still okay. The capsule that takes you up is really small but you are comfortable the whole time. It's only three or four minutes up and 3 minutes down. The wait and the ride up is worth it because when you get to the top and you look at the view it is incredible. Once you get to the top you can stay as long as you wish. You can see looking East and you can see looking West over the city. This is truly a remarkable engineering feat.
Love this place!! Being on top of the city is just a site to behold!! It always seems a little spendy because we usually do the riverboat cruise too. Touring the city is so fun. I just kept thinkin...if you build it they will come...this place goes to the top of the Arch literally every ten minutes everyday it is open...crazy...and if you watch the video as u wait to go to the top it is so interesting!! His dream to create this was amazing and I am so glad he followed his heart!
Awesome national park. Entrance to the park is located from the direction of the old courthouse. Entering through the sides is not allowed. Highly recommend
We spent our anniversary here... what a beautiful day and view
Such a cool attraction and a definite must see/do while in St. Louis! Reasonable price and the view at the top is super cool! Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the staff were a little snobby and it was absolutely insane once we got up too. Overall, very cool though!
Was very cool to ride to the top and see for miles.
A must stop and experience location if you're closeby, so glad I took the time to experience this incredible piece of engineering!!!
This has to be one of the best and most interesting man-made structures in this country! The video on how the Arch was built is very educational and is very well done. The ride to the top of the Arch may feel a bit claustrophobic for some, but it is definitely waiting the ride up to the top. Don't forget to use the washroom before you go up.
Great view at the top! A flight or two of stairs.. and once you're in the "egg" and you get to the top you'll feel like you've been birthed into the world again.. very tight but it's only 4 minutes up.
Very cool tour although I'm afraid of heights once we got to the top I just leaned against the wall but my husband enjoyed looking out taking pictures.
Really is such cool architecture. The surrounding park areas are new since I was last here and they were very nice. The little maps with raised markings and such on them for people with visual impairments is so wonderful so they can experience more, too.
The arch is always a fun and educational trip. This was my second trip to the arch. The fun little pods that you ride to the top are always a stomach wrenching thrill ride. I love the history of this building and seeing how it was made and going through the museum and really getting an education on the history of the building is quite an amazing journey. I'm terrified of heights so the view from the top for me is always a true test of my joy for the building. I'm never brave enough to just lean over the windows or even stand still for to long without wanting to go back down. I loved coming here and just being part of the experience. I'm sure I will be back. I really enjoyed the recent updated done to the museum. They are still working on some new additions and I'm excited to see what they do next.
It's very cool and some of the staff in the main entrance area are nice and helpful but the security seems rude.
It's a great memory. I went there as a kid with my mom and dad and I went back as an adult. The pictures from the top, at sunset, are breathtaking! Also, you look out one set of windows and see Missouri, then look out the other side and see Illinois, it's pretty cool!
What a neat park! Very eye opening on the history of the Arch, and especially St. Louis! I had no idea how important this City was to our history of our country, and especially for equal rights. I wish I knew the wait to go up the Arch, we didn't have time to go up :/
Guess I'll have to come back and spend time in the city too! A must see for families, it's a great part of history
Set time aside to thoroughly immerse yourself in the history on display in the newly reopened interactive displays. Sooooo much to see and do the immediate area of the Arch. Grab a Lime Bike and ride up and down the river or self tour downtown. Forest Park sits waiting to entertain you! Njoy!
We love to visit the arch and the museum anytime we're driving through St. Louis. So much history there it's just as intriguing as the first time we visited.
A must see monument! There is so much history in the museum and the views from the top of the arch are amazing.
Don't miss the video of construction of the arch. if you are chlostrophobic or have problem on stairs the ride to the top of the arch will be challenging.
Interesting place. I bought a ticket to take the elevator to the highest point of the arch and a ticket for a film about the construction (the film caused surprise). The museum inside is very interesting. There is a toilet.
It's the Arch, it's tall and beautiful. What more do you need?
Very friendly staff, clean & extremely interesting & informative. We will return
We only got to walk through the museum as everything else was still closed. The riverboat however was running but for some reason was shut down early( didnt help to ask staff as they all told us different answers)
Great staple to a great city! Very iconic monument!
Great place to travel to with friends and family. Or just going to for a trip.
Beautifully managed park which was just recently renovated. Plenty of information kiosks along the park's route to tell you more about the illustrious history of St Louis and the Mississippi River.
The Arch itself is a marvel of engineering and is worth revisiting throughout the day to see how the varying color of sunlight and lighting angle gets reflected.
Must visit!
So cool to see!! Amazing place and amazing infrastructure
It was a spectacular site to see! Highly recommend seeing the movie BEFORE you do the Tram Tour up the Arch, it put a lot of things into perspective. The Museum is fantastic and has wonderful resources and interactions for both children and adults. We had a great visit and all enjoyed it!
Note - the tram compartments are small and the top of the Arch is (as expected) narrow. Something to keep in mind if you have concerns about tight spaces.
Very interesting place if you love to learn about history. The documentary film was great. The museum is awesome, very informative. The only complaint is they should have told us that it could take up to an hour from your tram time to the time you're actually at the top of the Arch, especially in a holiday weekend
Beautiful! Must see and to learn the history of the structure.
Awesome park surrounds the arch coupled with riverside views. Right next to downtown with plenty of food and drink choices.
Nice museum and efficient operation. Buy your ticket to go up in the arch in advance, if possible.
Great time. Recommend it especially if you go during the winter months, no lines at all.
The rebuild of the museum and grounds is wonderful. I miss parking anywhere close, but if I can avoid being assaulted by the homeless, or mugged, it's a beautiful place.
The most awsome experience ever if yu get a chance to go visit do it i highly recommended it
Awesome view for a reasonable price. Skip the movie though, it's 80s style and kind of boring. You can learn the history and more in the museum
Less loose bolts than other arches I've visited, bit still an exciting ride
