I enjoyed the play but it was extremely hot and the seats in balcony are very tight and uncomfortable which made it even worse wth the heat tht kept rising to the top.
I wish I could give a lower grade than 1 star to this beautiful theater that is so mismanaged. Our group of five recently at the Brit Floyrd concert had a problem with being seated in wrong seats by the ushers. They moved us to different seats in the middle of the concert causing embarrassment and making people around us aggravated. When we discussed the issue with the manager on duty ( Glen Poston), it was like talking to the wall. Not only he did not at least apologize, he was rude and abrupt with a stupid smirk on his face. Later we found out that the ushers are all volunteers. A place like Fox Theater has volunteers for ushers without training or having any idea where the rows and the seats are. With a manager like Glen Poston what do you expect?
The Nutcracker wasn't as special as it usually is. The music was great and the dancers talented, but I really wasn't a fan of the modern twist put on it--the costumes, mannerisms, etc. It felt very children-oriented to the point that it took away from the ballet-feel of the show.
Please, Please, Please remodel this place I went to see Fantasia in concert with Tank .... Ok! When I tell you my fiance and my legs were hurting three days later from walking up and down those steps... Omg we felt like we ran 20 miles for three days after leaving the Fox I didn't even want to get up and use the restroom. I don't appreciate being that close to my neighbor either! For the love of all things holy remodel this place. I'm fluffy I need room... Ok please and thank you
If I pay almost 100 dollars for a Nosebleed seat Can You guys please get with the times and Include projector screens so we can at least see the Face of the performer,
I was at the Fox Theater with three teenageers last night. All under the age of 15. Upon leaving I was separated from two of them. I stood in the lobby with my youngest daughter and waited to see if I could find them. I was in a little bit of a panic after 30 minutes. I told her stay where she was and walked outside to see if I could find them and then tried to reenter. The security guards told me I could not go back in. I told them my daughter was in there and I could not find the other two. They said I had to leave and text them from outside. I told them my phone was dead, which they replied that is not their problem. I asked if they were really going to keep me away from my children. They asked me to leave or they would call the police and have me arrested for trespassing. I did find the girls after searching outside, but they were told to leave out of another door ,on another street, if they were not buying anything. After spending that much money on a show, there was zero customer service from these people,or help in finding my kids, and threatened with the police. They had no regard for the safety of my children. I will not ever spend another dime at this theater.
We went to see "Cats". My wife hadn't been there on 52 years. She loved seeing how it was decorated but said it was more opulent back in 1966. The stage looked so small from my wheelchair seating in the back but the dancers/singers were not extremely tall either. We wondered how they got so many "cats" on the stage at one time. The music sounded fantastic however the voices were very garbled. Fox needs to invest in better quality voice amplification. The show & appearance of theatre were well worth the expense.
Saved from the wrecking ball, this historic lady is only one of several around the country to detail the way things were in the last century. be sure to reserve your spot for the tour. All the major acts played here. There are lots of interesting tidbits of trivia to learning from your guide. Easy way to escape the Atlanta heat.
It's always a pleasure to visit The Fox Theatre. First it's a beautiful place very well kept up the ceiling and walls in it are spectacular especially when they do the stars on the ceiling and my granddad invented the platform of the organisers on so it holds a lot of memories and just a Historic Landmark that is very worthy of being seen.
A great venue that has concerts, plays, and other shows through out the year. Definitely check out their summer movie series. Concessions and parking can be a bit expensive but there are places to eat all around the Fox, as well as street parking. If you are in Atlanta and haven't checked out the Fox Theatre I would make an ocassion to do so and go check it out!
The Fox is a staple in Atlanta! Amazing place for a concert or show. Old school theater feel. The roof inside is awesome... looks like a blue sky with clouds. Don't hesitate to see a show here.
I saw the Sound of Music there when it first came out. I am 61 now. Used to live in Avondale Estates. My dad worked at the Merchandise Mart. The Atlanta Boat Show was in the basement of the Mart and Paul Revere and the Raiders played 2 shows that night. My first rock concert. Went back to visit the area a couple of years ago and learned again you can never go back to the way things used to be. But I do remember the Fox and those twinkling stars on the ceiling!!
