The first few times we went here to eat we were very impressed! Top Chef quality food at a bar?! But last night....not so much! Service was bad. We were being rushed even though they only had 3 tables to serve. We felt like our server just wanted to get to our tip (which was minimal based on her service!). Food was mediocre. Burger was poorly constructed. Fries were burnt on the outside, raw on the inside. They did send us another order of fries, but it had some kind of weird seasoning. Have to say we will probably not be going back.
My daughter and I sat at a table with 4 other people for over 40 minutes and no one even came to see if we wanted anything. It was a surreal experience. We were there for a show, but had an hour to kill beforehand. Food may be great (no idea), but the service is oddly non-existent at least in the downstairs bar area.
Upstairs bar was excellent. One guy handling a huge crowd mostly by himself. Friendly. Fast. Great service.
Downstairs 0 stars.
Upstairs 5 stars.
Rounded up to 3 stars overall.
Outstanding music venue. All aspects of the show were well organized. The vast majority of the patrons were seated at tables (call in advance to reserve a specific table). The sound was very good. Bar service was excellent. I look forward to my next evening at MadLide.
Great music, haven't tried the food yet.. awesome little venue, might wanna reserve a table, otherwise you may be standing all night
Love this place, seeing a couple shows and they've all been really good and the food was good as well, great beer selection
Parking was inadeqate and there was $3 charge if they did have space. It was standing room only inside.
One of my favorite places to go! Great music, staff, drinks, and food!
Great venue. Skip the food in the bar....at least the street tacos. Pork and chicken.....meh
My son is in School of Rock and they do their performances at madlife. It's very cool. One side is the restaurant and bar with a outdoor seating area. The other side is a stage and more tables with table bar food service. The lighting and sounds are great. Although, They need to work on the microphones for the singers with School of Rock. They were a little warbled. I'm definitely going to go back and see some of the shows that I've seen advertised.
Great venue to watch a band play!! Restaurant is pretty good as well!!
Awesome experience, loved the show on Valentine's days, so love the music of prince.
What a fun place to either just hang out or catch a show! The service is ways great as well
Just rented out the Mad Life studio for the day for a company event. They accommodated 130 of us for an entire day and fed everyone a fantastic lunch in a timely manner. We had access to the stage, screen, all sound equipment (spectacular sound system), great bathrooms and even their studio engineer ran the equipment for us ensuring that everything went off without a hitch (thank you Steve!) If you have ever thought of "redefining" your company with an incredibly cool venue that won't break your budget, THIS is your place. And did I mention the great show they had that evening, along with all the action in downtown Woodstock which set the scene for a great after party for the team? This place is a class act.
Great venue, great service and loved the location. Will definitely return.
Madlife is a great intimate venue. We never waited long for our drinks and food was great. Not a bad seat in the house.
Always a great time at Mad Life. Front bar and restaurant or a show in the bad. Doesn't matter. It's all good.
Good food and environment. However, not a great beer selection.
We had excellent service when my husband and I ate here. I can't remember ever having such a perfectly cooked piece of fish, if ever. My husband loved the lamb. We were impressed with the venue and plan to attend a concert in the near future.
I went to Madlife recently for the first time to see a live performance of a Nirvana cover band called Nevermind. Before I attended this event I had no idea that it was a concert venue. I just assumed that it was another trendy bar in the newly revamped Downtown Woodstock district. I was very impressed by the overall layout and sound quality of the performance area. I look forward to checking out another show there soon as this is one of the only places that I know of offering live performances during this crazy time that we live in thats dominated by the coronavirus. Gawd I can't wait for that to be cleared up and put in the rear view mirror. See you at the next show at Madlife!
Fabulous Venue! Friends invited us originally and we've been coming back consistently! Comedy, Music, Shows, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Normally very good grill. Chicken sandwich today was tough. Tasty but almost too tough to enjoy.
I ve heard the burgers were good so as I was passing through one evening, I stopped in to try it out. I love my burgers and this bacon cheese burger was cooked just right. The bacon was melted into the cheese and topped with pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. It s was everything I hoped in a burger. To each their own, but this was a good burger.
The Headliner was The Ray Howard Band... Really Great! Awesome!! Trule enjoyed the evening!
Went to see acdc tribute band. Staff and show were awesome.
Amazing place to hear great music and eat great food
Great sound system and big screen.Great energy for the Mayweather/McGregor flight.
Awesome place for food, drinks, environment and music
This place is fantastic. The Main music room has a fantastic sound system, and accomplished sound engineers who know what they're doing running it. The staff is super friendly. After everyone at my table ordered steaks, I realized we were probably going to go on before the steaks arrived so I went to the window and told the cooks what time we were going on so the food wouldn't get cold on the table while we were on stage. Instead of holding the order for an hour, they bumped it up to next and we were able to have a great meal before our set. I've been working in and running live music venues for 30 years. MadLife does it right.
We loved Madlife! We went to see Nevermind (Nirvana cover band), and loved every minute. We had a table and were close to the front. Tickets are super affordable. I wish there were little lights on the tables so we could see the menu better, but it was great overall.
We had the Sunday brunch with our family. Every dish was delicious. Plenty to eat. They had a singer and crowd was nice. Right on street to watch everything going on in Downtown Woodstock. Not overly crowded and service was great.
Rollicking good time! Fun venue, attentive and friendly staff, close to the stage seating, very delicious and creative food. MadLife is exactly what we've been searching for in a date night spot. The food is first class and we love rock 'n roll! Especially nice to find it all close too home. Cannot wait for the next dinner and concert!
Great music venue. Awesome food. Short rib burger OMG...
A fun venue. Not a bad seat in the place and good access to the bars.
The food and drinks were excellent. The environment was fun as well. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is because of the staff. Our waiter was, meh....
Great place for live music. Outside on the patio and bigger bands inside in the awesome concert venue! Not a bad seat. Great staff, beverages and food, which was more than just typical bar fare. Fair prices. Very varied artists with great tribute bands as well as originals. Loved it!
Took the family for an early dinner and place was empty. We sat and watched 4 different staff/servers walk by without any eye contact or acknowledgement. After 15min of being ignored we got up and left. No one even noticed us leave.
Great music on the patio and food was great too. Can't wait to go back.
This is way overdue... I didn't know I can review companies. Now that I can, I'm going back and leaving comments on places that had left an impression on me. I loved this place. From what I remember it's kinda small but has a great atmosphere and a fun place to view concerts and quality bands any day of the week I believe. I went on a weekend for a fundraiser. It was nice they hosted it.
We just had a couple beers. The live music was great!!
Not our cup of tea, but some people like to get "loosened up" and laugh at cliche sex jokes. I suppose whatever works.
We did enjoy the first part of the show. The music is good (live performances by two guys who can improvise well on the keyboards and sing). They go by "Dualing Pianos", but it's more like tag-team pianos.
As the crowd gets liquored up, the jokes get more raunchy, and the singers are encouraged to give larger tips in order to elevate their "favorite" higher on the request list. Tips seem to include money, as well as "favors".
I found it really interesting, but no desire to participate again.
BTW - if you're the least bit emotionally sensitive and given to a defensive mindset, don't go there and try to correct the entertainment. We saw three, 250lb+ bouncers desend on a 100lb 20-something, and shut her down and haul her out in mid sentence.
Great food. Drinks and a friendly great crowd. Best venue in Woodstock. For a great night get tickets.
Great experience. Awesome Food. Perfect intimate Venue. Different Music Every time I've been there. Amazing Recording studio for artist to come and work.
Mad life is a fun spot for Woodstockians. Ofcourse you have to like loud music and lots of people. This place seems to attract a middle age crowd. The 2 nights I've been the crowd has been 40ish id say. That's a plus for older people who don't want to feel like there at a fraternity club/party. The tickets for bands seem to run around 30 each plus about 5 or so in fees. The food is ok and drinks are ok. This is NOT a cheap place. Be prepared to spend money. You can get 3 dollar hello vodka shots, but you'll pay for it with a nasty hangover. They have mad life seperated by the patio/bar/ inside area where bands are. So if your at the bar where most people are eating you might here the band but you can't see them. They really want you to pay 30 plus to see/hear the band. The place is small and tickets do sell out so don't wait till you get to door. I actually bought tickets for 3 months from now because it's a band I know I want to see.
I always have a good time at Madlife. The staff are attentive and the sound quality for performers is terrific. A great gem in the heart of downtown Woodstock!
My friend paid cash for two drinks at the bar upstairs and it was $20. I paid $18 on my card for the same two drinks at the bar down stairs! Not Cool!
Let me first start by saying this used to be one of my favorite spots. My hubby and I would frequently go and always get their smoked wings which was always a favorite of ours.
We came in this past Tuesday with my mom just for the wings. When the server came out with the we were super excited as always. Then we broke them apart to see red, gooey, bloody insides. Sure we were disappointed but not upset at this point. We all had to send them back and the server apologized.
The server then came back to relay the message that the chef said that s just the way they look because they are smoked but hey are going to cook them more anyway for us. We told her we get them all the time there and they NEVER look like this. I wish I would have captured a picture of these things. I know the difference (so does my husband and mom) between what smoked wings look like and what bloody, uncooked wings look like. I only have pics of them the second go round, AFTER they were cooked longer.
We patiently waited and when our wings came back AFTER being cooked longer we peeked inside and they were still undercooked..... Not quite as bloody but still definitely undercooked. By this point we were just grossed out and Just wanted to leave.
THEN the manager on duty came out with a chip on her shoulder and before we even had the chance to say anything she said.... Sooooo, what? Is it that you just don t like the flavor? My husband opened up the meat and showed her explaining that this was just unacceptable. I asked her if she would eat these, she just looked at me and ignored the question.
Unfortunately this entire experience has changed our opinion of one what used to be our favorite places to go get smoked wings. The thought of these them still makes me cringe.
Terrible experience with their management. Great concept but need help! Treated as if we were at a trashy bar in atlanta.
Always Great live music!!!! And now Open Mic on Tuesday!!!
Had a great time watching a 90 s cover band! The space is large and open, the drinks were reasonblh priced, and the staff was great! Can t wait to come back and visit so I can try their food and see other bands.
Has good atmosphere, nice set up. Sound system was good. The band : The Dirty Doors was awesome. Went to the later show. Went to after midnight like in the old days, over 2 hours straight through !! Easier parking at night on a Saturday. First time there, will be back. Good fried pickles.
Would be five stars if it wasn't for the burger quality. Wings were great! Good beer selection as well - love me some tripel on tap. Only problem is it isn't located in Atlanta. Woodstock sucks.
Incredible mix between a bar, restaurant and recording studio. The sound was great and the food was too! Will definitely be back.
I had heard great things about Madlife and I finally got to attend an event. We got there early and reserved a table near the stage then went into the restaurant and ate dinner. Food was very good but our server was too busy or just not good. However, the manager was on top of it and she handled the situation of two incorrect meals with our group of 8. She quickly got the order corrected and was very pleasant. The concert was fantastic. Tables and chairs are packed in tightly but once you're seated it's fine. Definitely going to go back.
Not a bad seat at the show! Sound was great! Definitely coming back!
Great venue. Loved the Eagles Tribute Band last night!
Great venue, food, drinks, and entertainment choices for everyone!
Fried green tomatoes were overcooked and chewy. Burger was bland. Fries taste like old grease. Server was nice though.
The patio is great, but the music is so loud you can't have a conversation. the food and service are great though.
Very nice venue. Small with good sound. A great combination.
The stage and sound system are incredible, the staff knows exactly what they're doing, and a chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and a fried green tomato? Game over.
Love this place! State of the art facility. Super friendly wait staff. Excellent acoustics.
