Living in #Hellskitchen we like to take a walk along 9th and find random restaurants to try. Tonight we tried #esanation #thai #restaurant I d give it about a 7 on a scale of 1-10, ten being the best. The food was good a lot of flavor Atmosphere was okay, music was a good level for conversation.

I love Italian food! It is incredible that in Manhattan, the big apple, you can find an excellent Italian restaurant. My husband is lucky I can wait longer to return to Italy.
Great service, LOVED the octopus salad!!! The spaghetti with meatballs was way too salty, but delicious. Wish they didn't make it so salty. On the other hand, the truffle gnocchi was pricey and nothing special about it but that it tasted like gnocchi with lots of cheese and cream. We went at about 4:30, but it started getting really crowded, sitting elbow to elbow with strangers, nowhere to put purse.
The meal felt overpriced for what it really was. The octopus salad was the only thing that I might want from what we ate here.
Ugh, so yummy!!! Cozy, cute restaurant with great food. Even my critic and picky friend was satisfied Our waiter seemed a bit uppity but the food still made up for it! Definitely will be back and recommend it to friends.
Food delivered -- It was awful. We wound up throwing out most of it. We ordered the fettucini with mushrooms, prosciutto and mozzarella, shrimp, and eggplant rollatini. I'm sorry to write this review -- it just wasn't good. The only thing edible was the shrimp. Will not order again from here.
Terrific food, and very kind wait staff. The place is tiny. If you don't mind bumping elbows with the stranger next to you, it is definitely worth the visit.
Get there before 6 if your going to a show, it does get busy after that Saturday evening. Most plates portion are on the light side but very good! If you like cozy places it's definitely that.
Delightful wine bar with surprisingly terrific food. Wines are reasonably priced and well curated. Dishes are delicious don't miss the burrata. Service is warm and accommodating.
Tried Briciola for dinner, went back immediately for lunch the next day. A true hidden gem with atmosphere like no other. We've tried many things on the menu and yet to be anything but blown away.
They have special $1 oysters and $2 kumamoto. I d skip the $1 oysters and just get kumamotos bc kumamotos were so much better than the $1 ones! We got spaghetti and meatballs, gnocchi w blck truffle oil and sadine. The pasta dishes were very tasty. We definitely want to go back and try different pasta dishes but sadine was pretty bad.. it tasted like it was straight out of can, i couldnt have a third bite of it. Overall atmosphere is very cute and cozy. Since the space is very tight, i d go back when they are not too busy. Once it got crowded, it got loud very fast and everybody was trying very hard not to accidentally hit the next person..
In terms of sanitation, my boyfriend s silverwares had watermarks on it which we didn t bother to point out. I saw waitress clean table w tablecloth and windex. Do other restaurants wipe tables w the same table clothes customers use with Windex..? Just seems like Windex is such a harsh chemical to carry around where there are food around. Restroom was clean.
My partner and I had the most delicious meal (picked up to go). I ordered the gnocchi in tomato sauce and he had the mushroom and truffle fettuccine. We split a arugula, peppers, tomato, and feta salad. The tomato sauce was excellent, so fresh. His was very tasty, the perfect amount of truffle oil so as not to be overpowering and the mushrooms were all very good. The produce in our salad was very high quality and tasted flavourful and sweet. We will order from here again and when we went to pick it up, the restaurant itself looked beautiful, so we look forward to dining in person in the future.
I really like the design if this place. Friendly staff helping you with your selection of food and wine also added to the experience. I'm not all that familiar with Mac and cheese so I thought, if I'm gonna try it, I might as well try in in a good restaurant, known for making a killer version of this well known comfort food. Not disappointed, the Mac n cheese with black truffle out of the oven was to die for, really good experience. The risotto was also great!
Been here before and food is amazing but honestly, this time the host, when I asked how long the wait is replied to me. "Oh, its going to be a long time, you should go across the street." I then confirmed what she had told me. Ive seen longer lines there with 30 min or leas waits. Lost a repeat customer.
Cheated by management on our visit. A friend gave us a gift certificate which you can register online to redeem using your phone number. I did that prior to our visit. Once we were done, the waitress didn't know how to redeem it, so I paid for dinner and she said manager would work it out for us after she called him. Alex is the manager, and I have spoken with him over a dozen times to try to get the issue resolved over the past 2 months, and now he wont return my calls or texts. Food was good, but I'm out $100. Hard to recommend a restaurant that cheats their customers.
Small spot with really good food options. I had the maccheroni Al tartufo which was delicious and super filling. My girlfriend had the fettuccine ai funghi which was good, but I think I made the better choice! The spot is really small so expect to sit at a bar, elbow to elbow with other patrons. Was definitely worth it for the food!
Great experience at this small, neighborhood-style Italian-inspired eatery. Select pastas are homemade and they have a variety of different specials each day. The oysters were particularly spectacular. Our server was extremely attentive and very willing to assist us in choosing the dish that best served our appetites and potential allergic concerns. Several individuals accompanied our party, each ordering a separate dish. Not one person had anything other than exceptional reactions to their meals. Drinks also were well-made. Prices were reasonable. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and can consider this to be a well-earned five stars for Briciola. Come visit.
I love this place:) That time i wanna eat cream pasta!! They have one creamy source pasta However waiter told me you can change a source! That s why i ordered a creamy pasta He was so kind and tasty also awesome and restaurant mood is so nice:))
Very intimately small restaurant. Pasta dishes were good. Outdoor dining was cold (only heace over head heaters) and indoor dining table is shared with other customers.
The pasta lunch special is a great deal you get a pasta dish of your choice plus a glass of house wine for $18 which is very good for the city. I had the bolognese which was delicious!
Intimate, cozy spot that feels like an actual back alley spot in Italy. Pick a bar seat or sit at the communal table. Homemade pasta cooked to perfection - I had the spicy shrimp tomato rigatoni, wife has the penne pesto...both just absolutely excellent. Burrata appetizer was great as well, and bartenders will help you fine an Italian wine to go with.
Recommend octopus salad and shrimp risotto. One thing we are not happy with is that the staff added 20% tips to our bills WITHOUT notifying us (the service is simply okay and we had lunch there not dinner). Luckily, one of our friends reminded us not filling out gratuity as it has already been included in the bills. The food is good however we don t know if we should go back.
Fantastic boar based pasta dish as part of a surprisingly extensive menu coupled with great wine recommendation. Cramped for space but worth revisiting regularly.
The food was amazing! I was looking forward to go back, but I saw one of the waiters follow a customer outside and confronted them for a bigger tip. Not sure how safe I'd feel going back there.
The food here was heartwarming and great wine options. I loved the small cozy environment. However the service was a little strange. The service towards my friend and I was ok, but we saw couples getting moved from the bar area to a small bench if they didn't want to have a meal and just wanted a drink or dessert. It was a little off putting to see this. I understand they have limited space, but I would think each customer should be treated with equal appreciation.
Very good food for the low price! Nice interior, although very small so you'll want to reserve. Gluten free option for me was great, and the waitress actually knew about allergies.
a cute, tight little place, high tables, great tapas and wine, great to share amongst a few friends. bigger groups might get tricky. right at the heart of hell's kitchen though!
Amazing Italian food. I had the lamb chops (costicine d'agnelo) and tagliatelle Bolognese! I would recommend people to go here if u like Italian food. But let me warn you it is a small place and has a wait. The prise is unbelievable for such great food.
Excellent restaurant with healthy tasty choices. Octopus salad is very good. The gnocchi truffle is also superb. The seating area is very tight as it is a long table. They have another restaurant with the same menu across the street called laboratorio. Recommend both restaurants
In a ruthless yet impressive NYC way, Bricola utilizes every square inch of their property to squeeze as many patrons as possible into the restaurant. We had to brush past essentially every other diner to get to our seats, and the arrangement of one long high table with flanked by two rows of stools certainly made for cosy times. The food was decent - the roasted boar in my tagliatelle was tender and filling, though the Brussels sprouts were relatively bland. Check out the restroom for inspiration on space efficient design.
Wow this place is not big but it is super cool, great for couples who want to try authentic Italian food and enjoy a warm setting. The lamb chop is a must!
Intimate, very cosy and tasteful place with delicious food and professionally friendly personnel. Will definitely return on my next trip to NY! Oysters and tagliatelle bolognese are my two favs this time.
Cute place with few locations near by. More of tapas style spot with a good wine selection. This spot is my favorite though, the food tastes better from the other few ones and the service is more polite and attentive
Hip and popular Italian spot in Hell's Kitchen. We were seated surprisingly quickly at the bar. The restaurant *really* packs in the people, and therefore it was very warm inside, despite the air conditioning. Service was a touch slow, but extremely friendly and personable.
Portion sizes & prices are spot-on and reasonable. Our dishes were excellent, and the overall food experience was high quality. I would definitely come back here, but you need to be aware of what kind of restaurant this is and keep your expectations in line.
Have been here twice about a year apart. Have had great experiences both times. Cozy, warm, and intimate. No gimmicks. A true neighborhood eatery. Great wines and the food was splendid. Price is great for this quality and experience.
TL;DR - decent food, felt like a sardine, more packed than economy class on an Asian airline.
Ordered a variety of pastas and small plates, didn't have any complaints about any of the dishes, though nothing stood out either (except maybe the Crostini Porchetta). Wait staff were courteous and while the bathroom is small, even by NYC standards, it was decently clean.
The real kicker is that this place only has 1 bar and 1 communal table...which means you're bumping elbows with people next to you. If you're down to meet new people then no problem, but if you're hoping to have an intimate 1 on 1, expect to hear and feel everyone around you. I didn't personally have a problem with this since my seat neighbors were all on the petite side but if you've got anything more than a dad bod, expect otherwise.
Nice place with a cozy atmosphere and good Italian food. It does have very limited seating with no individual tables if you are into that sort of thing.
This is a cozy little spot with tasty small italian plates. You'll want to go with someone who enjoys sharing because you'll want to try a few plates and pastas. It's usually pretty crowded and the seating is narrow, so I usually only come here with 1 other person. The sister restaurant across the street has the same menu and more space if you are with a group.
Love everything about this place. Every time I come to NYC, I like coming here because it's not an experience I'm afforded at home and it simply makes me happy. Also, cheers to the wonderfully sweet french bartender who is great with wines and a pleasure to talk to.
This is my 3rd time eating here. The food has always been delicious. however, this evening, it was good, but nothing special. My lasagna was lukewarm in the center and refrigerator cold around the edges. I sent it back to reheat it. The cook dropped the dish on the counter, yelled at the server, poked at the food, then slammed it into a microwave. It was still barely heated through. All the cook had to do, was use a Food THERMOMETER to see that it was not heated through. I witnessed the entire incident as the small kitchen is an arm's length from the bar where I was seated. I won't be returning there as there are many other great Italian restaurants in NYC.
A gem. Delicious small plates, designed to share. As of this writing, Summer 2016, their $1 Blue Point Oysters are sweet and delicious. (And a hands down bargain!). Insider tip -- go early. I mean early. Pre-fixe lunch special for $16 includes a pasta dish and a glass of wine.
