We went for Easter brunch. It was expensive but amazing! The hotel was decorated with beautiful fresh flowers and had activities for the kiddies too. The food was delicouse and the service top notch. I can not say anything about the rooms.

I was relocated to The Drake after The Hilton Chicago couldn't accommodate my reservation I made nearly 4 months in advance for a conference. I am unimpressed with the room I was given. I pulled down my blinds the second I entered the room due to the eyesore outside my window. The outlet provided on the lamp sparked and popped when I attempted to plug in my phone charger (it is unusable). The wallpaper is peeling and the paint on the crown molding is flaking off. There is mold on the grout of the tiles in the shower. I've stayed in $50 motel rooms in better shape than the room I was provided. I understand the building is historical, and the lobby is absolutely gorgeous, but they need to consider updating the rooms. This is my first time staying in Chicago, and I am disappointed with my accommodations for the three nights I'm here. Considering looking for another Hotel for the remaining two nights.

I love going to High Tea places throughout the year with my mother and daughter. We have been to many different kinds all over the Chicagoland area. We decided to go to the Drake around the holidays. The hotel was beautiful, it was elegantly decked out for the holidays. We were so excited about going! Unfortunately, it was not worth our time or money. It was very noisy and crowded- but that is not our complaint. They gave us literally nothing to eat. I think we had 5 quarter size sandwiches, 3 dime size desserts and a pot of tea. That's it for the price!. No scones, bread, jams, butter...nothing! The waitress was not the kindest person either, she was very stressed out and certainly did NOT want to be there. They had a harpist but as soon as we sat down she went on break. The harpist came back as we were leaving. I contacted the Drake the next day about our experience but management could have cared less. I really don't recommend the Drake for a nice High Tea experience, there are many other places to go for a positive experience.

Staying at the Drake was a wonderful experience. The staff were kind and very helpful and the room was divine. Definitely will try to stay again in the future. The Tea Room is also a definite must as it was one of the best lunch with tea I've ever had. Full stars!

We went to The Drake for the holiday tea (a tradition with my girlfriend's) and as always it was absolutely fabulous! Wonderful service, beautiful decor, carolers, and delicious teas and treats. I would definitely suggest for families, friends, couples, anyone!

We stayed at The Drake for a week with 2 children age 12 and 2.
The staff was wonderful to welcome us with friendliness and interacting with the children so well. Two of their favorite employees were BEN and CHRIS so here is a big shout out to them. Thank y all for being so helpful and entertaining.

It's a beautiful hotel and great service. I would have given it 5 Stars but the rooms are way too close together and they put someone in the room next to me who decided to smoke cigarettes at 10 PM when I was going to sleep. It's a smoke free hotel. They offered to move me but why was someone in the room right next to me in the first place? I also don't like the fact that the rooms have several adjacent doors connect to at least 2 other rooms.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a bit of an up and down experience. First the positives:
When out first room smelled of cigarette smoke they moved us to another, larger room and didn't charge to upgrade.
The location is great, and allowed us to access the beach across the street quickly. And of course the proximity to the Miracle Mile makes for good shopping and eating experiences.
Front desk was helpful and professional.
The afternoon tea was well done.

On the negative side, the upgraded room came with a portable AC unit that had to be vented out of a window and was secured with duct tape and plywood. (Picture included). As a result the room was humid all of the time.
On multiple occasions the room wasn't fully restocked after cleaning. No coffee or cups one night, and not enough towels on another. Luckily the staff were still down the hall when we discovered this, and they gave us what we needed when we asked for it.
We tried the bar on the ground floor and it was grungy and the wait staff were all pretty grumpy. Not sure if they were just having a bad day, but we avoided the bar after that.

So, like I said it was an up and down experience.

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! DON'T RUIN YOUR TRIP!!!! We were really looking forward to a nice weekend of good food, shopping, and hoping for an enjoyable hotel. The Drake Hotel was anything but enjoyable. First off, the hotel is very old and ran down. It must not have been refurbished in a long time. The room was tiny, the shower dripped all night, the old pipes in the hotel made tons of noise all night, the air conditioner barely worked (the room was terribly hot), and the many of the staff members were rude (especially one of the managers-Eloy). I was made under the impression that the parking was for 24 hours and when we left, they told me that I had a $33 fine since we were 4 hrs late (which was not my understanding). The manager was very rude and unhelpful. He said the hotel would not help my wife and I with the late fee, even if it cost us never coming back. Eloy, a manager (who should be a representative for the Drake Hotel) couldn't have cared any less when I told him that I was going to share my opinion on this website. Unbelievable.. Someone probably will comment on this post trying to resolve this, but they will just be putting on a front unless if they decide to refund me the $33 that was unjustly charged. Seriously, angering a customer over $33? STAY AWAY FROM THE DRAKE HOTEL!

A Chicago city landmark with an amazing view, nice polished rooms, marble bathrooms, high tea service, and an amazing staff. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted, treated very well, handled with kid gloves, and received all the attention I could ask for.

My only gripe with the place is the prices for the rooms. But that comes with the territory I guess.

Such an elegant old world hotel. Met friends for drinks there and surprisingly the bar tab was less expensive than 3 other watering holes we'd previously been to over the course of our week spent in the city. Gracious and unassuming staff and a very pleasant oasis in the heart of Chicago. Will definitely make a return visit there.

Didn't stay overnight but had a chance to meet with Sara, associate director of catering, to plan an event. She was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Very high level of service at the Drake.

Stopped by the Drake Hotel just to grab a drink and some appetizers around the mid-afternoon lull, and even then the staff was on their game. Although I admit I wasn't dressed appropriately for such a nice place, the staff treated me extremely respectfully and we're knowledgeable about all of the drinks on the menu. After I left, one of the employees ran out of the restaurant to give me my card, informing me I'd left it on the table. I wish I had caught her name so that I could give her more recognition, but let this review serve as an official "thank you." Overall, a great experience with phenomenal cheese and meats.

When we go to Chicago this is where husband takes me, has for the last 16 years! It has more than lots of history, like the bar here Miss Marilyn Monroe has sat at the bar! This is the best upscale hotel in Chicago ( my opinion) we have very fond memories of staying here. Has an old elevator, hello boys, and when you get here a gentleman will park your car in a car park for you and get it for you when you leave. I always feel treated like royalty here ( price is $$$) but you what you pay for!! Can't wait to go back!!

Georgeous atmosphere in a grand hotel. Why stay at a generic chain when you can stay here? The location is amazing, walking distance from most anything you would like to see on the lakeshore. The staff are super helpful and attentive and everything went smoothly from check in to check out.

Also the Coq D'or is one of the best places I've ever had the pleasure of having a drink. It wasn't just the best hotel bar I've ever been to, it was one of the best bars period.

My wife and I just enjoyed our first anniversary here. Location couldn't be better. Rooms are clean, up-to-date, and still have a historic feel. The service was most impressive. We came back to a surprise bottle of sparkling wine and platter of hors d'oeuvres that the house covered for free. We will definitely recommend this and hope to go back soon!

What a beautiful place. I have never stayed here but came for the afternoon tea and it is such a great experience. So romantic. Food is great and the tea service is really good. I came here twice and it was pretty consistent.

Nice hotel with old world charm. Located across the street from some of the finest retailers in the world (Louis Vuitton and Gucci). Some of the rooms has lovely views of Lake Michigan. More of a business traveler hotel. The room service menu is a bit limited and there aren t many mid priced eating establishments within walking distance. The front desk/check in staff could benefit from a bit of customer service training. Overall, nice hotel in nice location.

Such a beautiful and historic hotel. We enjoyed afternoon tea with the harpist. Our waiter was very kind and did a great job. But the food was average, we felt like the bread was a little dry and one of our macaroons was not up to par, but they replaced it quickly and were very apologetic. The tea (earl grey) was very nice, it's usually my go to tea and it did not disappoint. The decor and experience almost made up for the average food and the macaroon issue. I love visiting different tea rooms and I'm glad I was able to add this one to my list. I discovered it from a list of Top 7 tea rooms in america. Not sure I would return, but wouldn't want to miss it!

This is an amazing Hilton property. The staff is very friendly. My only complaint (which i completely understand and am happy to accept) is when it's cold outside, you can feel the chill thru the windows and exterior walls. Just run the heater more. The rooms are incredibly clean and elegant. The executive lounge is closed during the winter months, but the rooms are also discounted. I will stay here again in the future.

The concierge named Mary or Maria call me a while after my brother left a package for me tell me that she had it and was calling to see if I can still come get it even though when I came the first time the front desk told me they couldn't find it weeks after she could have easily went with the hotel policy and disposed of the package, but she called me she let me know who she left it with and made sure I know who and where to ask for my package. Excellent customer service and very nice staff. I would stay there anytime soon I need a hotel Plus my brother told me he likes it so that's a double recommendation.

This place was so opulent and posh, walking in was like stepping back into the Roaring 20's. The rooms were large, the bathroom was a little creepy (no idea why) but still beautiful! Our bed creeked and we never saw the "Lady in the Red Dress" ghost (bummer!) It was a fun stay!

The Drake located at the top of Michigan Avenue features spectacular city views and not so spectacular city prices. High tea at the Drake is an experience that everybody should do at least once. You couldn't ask for a better location. It's one of those classic old world hotels that still maintains a level of elegance you just don't see at the chain places. Worth the extra money for the extra level of service they provide.

My girlfriend and I stopped in to visit the Mangel Florist and were delighted by the assortment of cute cards and gifts, the friendly staff, and the adorable French bulldog Miss Bee who greeted us at the entrance. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for flowers or other fine gifts.
