upon checking in, our room's ac was not working. kind of disappointing for a top rated pricey place. they switched our room, so a floor that was not even available upon checking in initially. all in all, place is okay. lots of weddings going on, and lots of people. i understand its a chicago gem, but renovations are are desired.

Great, grand old dame of Chicago hotels, now a Hilton brand, offers great location, fantastic dining. Definitely purchase the $5 breakfast upgrade and try to upgrade your room as they often try to sell out at the last moment with astonishing deals. Comfortable beds and linens. Free waters at check in. WiFi is a little awkward and slow at times, and the plumbing means you get periods of hot and cold water at high demand hours, but that's de rigeuer for this style of hotel.

We were there for a charity auction. The venue is great, but the rooms are old, dated, and musty. I felt like we were tucked in a small corner room. I would likely not stay here again but would opt for one of the other hotels in the area.

Always a great experience when we visit the Drake hotel for Afternoon tea. Starting with a great atmosphere with the indoor fountain, elegantly arranged seating, soft music playing, mirrors, flowers, lighting, decorations, etc. You feel relaxed while you dine. The staff are friendly and helpful. The snack tower is delicious and has a variety of snacks and treats. Count me in as a repeat customer.

We had a WONDERFUL and relaxing time at The Drake. Had a perfect martini in the Palm Court and a made to order breakfast in Camellia's. On top of that we had an exquisite view of the lake. We'll be back.

Tea service review- I loved the tea service and room! My friends and I had a wonderful afternoon there. I loved that they were able to accommodate my gluten free needs. The food was excellent! It felt very elegant.

I was extremely reticent to visit such a relic, but I was pleasantly surprised with the modern flairs they have on the inside. Yes, it's dated and could use a major overhaul, but the staff help make EVERYONE who enters this hotel feel like they are Princess Diana.

I went there for a wedding, the whole event went very smoothly, the staff was nice and professional, I would definitely consider it for my own wedding. The only thing that could have went improved is the size of the cake... It was delicious but we had a small piece, everyone wanted more.

We have just spent a few days at the Drake and fell in love with this old style Hotel. The Plaza, in New York, is where we stayed last Month. These old hotels are an experience everyone should do at least once in a life time. Location, location and yes location is everything in real estate and The Drake has it in spades. The concierge, Mary, went way beyond customer service expectations more then once. The view from executive lounge is worth the extra costs. There is no question in my mind that we will be back!

New Years Eve 2016 at the Drake. A night of remembrance and a night of romance in the belly of the dragon. Of note is that this evening at the Drake featured television weather forecaster Cheryl Scott who enriched the airwaves with a gleaming Maidenhead aurora as seen by viewers at home. And as any event there were plots to seduce Cheryl ~ the dear one with magical spells. The mold here at the Drake told the tale as the International Sherriff's Association has released an artist sketch of that incident. Cheryl is reported fine and recovering from her erotic fling with the Firmament 421.

Very nice and fancy hotel. Lots of crown molding and carpeted floors. Flowers in vases in the lobby with plenty of bellhops and front desk assistance. Rooms were elegant and very nice. A great hotel with the feeling of the 60s or 70s. Not a modern hotel but very nice.

Its pretty but my experience unfortunately sucks right now. The wifi has not worked since Ive been here, the toilet is frightening, and the stereo doesnt work in both my first room and the second room they switched me to. Seriously, Id like to know the point in having things that dont even work in your rooms

The rooms are not the same as photographed. The paint is chipped, the vents are dirty & dusty. The decor is old and molded. We changed rooms 3 times before even finding a room OK enough to stay in. We paid top dollar $259 to stay in a 4 star hotel. The quality of the hotel is no more than $50. Ordered room service for coffee. $19. The sugar pakets were wet & the sugar was crystallized. Just disgusting. I would not recommend anyone stay here.

I would never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone I know. The only saving grace was that the staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed 3 nights for a conference March 2018.

Lighting in my room was really dark especially around the desk area. It was just really dark on the right side of the room. I was able to get a lamp which was great but had to request it - very inconvenient. It was interesting that the room next to me (a colleague's room) was very vibrant with lighting more updated furniture and decor. It was very inviting. I felt like the lighting and decor in my room is from the 1950's. I am very disappointed.

-The first morning I tried for 10 minutes to get the iron out of the caddy but to no avail and had to call the front desk for assistance. The maintenance person had to use a lot of elbow grease to get it out and he said that it was old and needed to be replaced. He did replace it thankfully but yet another inconvenience.

- The same morning I had trouble with the shower of handle got stuck in the on position. I was so frustrated, I had to hit the handle with my fist several times to get it to loosen an the turn off the water. That night a maintenance person was sent to take a look at it.

-The first night I turned the heat up because it was very cold and then heard what seemed like bathroom activities above me then I heard I water seem to run down the wall towards the heater an then it kicked on. It just wasn't good sound and I was confused. at this point I felt like I was having to remodel an old house!

- It was really hot a lot in the rooms where our training is taking place.

All in all it was a horrible experience that I wouldn't want anyone else to have to suffer through. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hilton across the street.

Attended a professional meet up here. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a stylish lounge area for meeting and mingling. Conference rooms upstairs have a classic charm which is great for galas and dinners.

My friend and I have visited the Drake many times, and always feel pampered and happy at the Drake. This time we had a large room with 2 queen beds and 2 full baths, overlooking Michigan Avenue (room 221). What a luxury! Comfortable beds, a refrigerator and coffee maker, and two closets. Thoughtful details like makeup mirrors in both bathrooms, and floor length mirrors on the closet doors. We did have an issue with a request we'd made, but the management did an excellent job making it right, and fast! We look forward to our next visit, including our traditional drinks in the Coq d'Or bar downstairs. Very pleasant front desk staff (thank you Dominique!) and door staff. So nice to enjoy the old world beauty of this landmark hotel.

The hotel is beautiful! The room is old fashion. The staff is very unprofessional and rude! They charged my debit card without my consent and when I called to ask about it they were very rude and nonchalant. They pick and choose what rules apply to certain people.

The Drake is in a perfect location if you are looking to do some shopping on the Magnificent Mile. The service is excellent all around from check-in to housekeeping. It is definitely an older building, but it had been maintained with a lot of care. The only part that really showed its age was noise from the room next door (probably from the door as it was a connected room). The price was great for location, service, and room.

Posh rooms. Attentive service. Modern amenities in the rooms and a luxuriously comfy bed. I don't mind that the rooms are a little small because the ceilings are so high and the furniture is tastefully sized and placed. Very thoughtful. We didn't have one of the rooms with a view, but we enjoyed looking at the Louis Vuitton store across the way :)

Pro tip: if you need to keep your car there the whole day, the parking is worth the cost. If it's just overnight, use spothero.

Great old-style hotel. Ignore the "form factor." Think of it as character. While the functionality of the rooms might be a little dated, the rooms are spacious. Better than the glass towers that are closer to the river. The staff is great. The bar in the basement is great. Our top choice of hotel when visiting Chicago.
