This was a classic old hotel. If you love the architecture and decor from the 20s this has it all. Everything is preserved how it was originally intended. The fixtures, the shower/tub, even the blinds. The entrance is bright in gold and blue, with large crystal chandeliers. Making your way through the lobby turning left to the palm room felt as if I was in the movie Gatsby. Highly recommended if you want old classic luxury.

BEAUTIFUL AMBIANCE, GREAT DECOR, THE HARP WAS EXCELLENT. NOT A FIVE STAR BECAUSE THE FOOD TOWER HAD STALE BREAD/PASTRIES. IF THEY WEREN'T 3 DAYS OLD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ENJOYABLE EATING EXPERIENCE TOO. TEA SELECTION IS GOOD.

Our staying at the Drake Hotel on New Year's Eve was fantastic. The party was excellent, although of course you have to pay extra to get into it oh, and the brief moment of loud neighbors was promptly taken care of by Hotel staff. I very much appreciate the check-in process as well as the relatively prompt breakfast room service despite it being New Year's Day when I'm sure just about everyone in the hotel was ordering

LOVE this hotel. Will stay here every time I come to Chicago. The service was great and the rooms were awesome - super big and we'll kept. I got room service and dined at the restaurant and both experiences were amazing. Highly recommend if you are in town!

Honestly, I presented a four out of five merely for the kindness and hospitable staff, and the historical society cancelling of the hotel. And, for being,or having to be in Chicago,it did provide nice view on lakeside. However, the overall experience would not rate a four-- I cannot blame the hotel for the ridiculous traffic, terribly expensive parking, the higher costs of food and basics in a large city like Chicago, or the overall rudeness of local populism. Again, very attentive nice staff, a historical landmark, and the overall appearance of rooms and facilities is quite nice, especially considering the buildings age..Personally,will try not to be back in Chicago area for a while but, if I did need to, the Drake is a fine hotel, very good staff, and appeared very clean. Thank you.

Absolutely FIRST-CLASS weekend stay.

Absolutely FIRST-CLASS weekend stay.
Door to door great service. Friendly helpful people. A super-nice and helpful front desk agent named Dominique helped us with check in and check out. We arrived a bit early and they graciously checked us into our room early, getting the weekend off to a great start. The Concierge, Mary, worked magic to get our group of 5 into a top-tier steakhouse on 1 day s notice and at 7:00 pm to boot!
Been to Chicago many times. This was our first stay at the Drake but it certainly won t be the last. We will be back and I cannot wait!

I had a very good experience here. I have stayed here twice now. Once, for a committee meeting and once for the Chicago Marathon. Each time, the staff and the service was excellent.

Classic hotel in the heart of the city, right near all of the Michigan Avenue shopping you could do and only a few blocks from a great run of restaurants in the Gold Coast. Beautiful lobby, and across the street from the lake.

The Drake is a Chicago landmark. The interior gives the impression of stepping back in time, high ceilings, ornate fixtures and trims. The rooms are a combination of old and new, with updated bath fixtures. Service is spot on, hotel staff is friendly and always available to assist.

Good location but rooms are old. The executive lounge has great views but the quality and breakfast spread is terrible for a Hilton class of hotel. Not very well stocked during the day for snacks as described in the website and the drinks in the lounge are charged and not free unlike the lounges at other hilton properties.

Afternoon tea at Palm Court was one of the highlights of our trip to Chicago. The array of eats was both varied and delicious, we loved their own blend of custom-made tea and the surroundings were magnificinent. It's like travelling back to luxurious times gone by with the fountain in the middle, the harpist playing the tunes and the opulence of it all. We upgraded to the bubbles option which was worth it. Service was excellent and the bathrooms are definitely worth a visti, some of the fanciest I have ever seen. Although this isn't the most delicious afternoon tea I've ever eaten, it's one of the best afternoon tea experiences I've had, all things considered; food, drinks, service and surroundings, and it comes highly recommended. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Chicago!

Our team at MDM has partnered with The Drake Hotel many times to provide services for weddings and other various events. The ballrooms and other options of spaces are INCREDIBLE. The historic architecture and intricate artwork is a site you want to see. The Gold Coast room is beautiful including the view of the city and the gaze over Lake Michigan. Shaun Rajah is a pleasure to work with and we appreciate all of the hard work, commitment to success, and team work they provide not only us, but the rest of the venue staff.

We come for high tea at 3pm as an annual mother daughter treat. There is a wonderful selection of teas and the finger sandwiches are the perfect size and delicious. The cucumber sandwiches and lemon curd is our favorite. The setting is pure opulence. See our photos of the mammoth flower arrangements below. This is a lovely tradition I d recommend to break the pace of a busy chicago weekend. The prices are reasonable and the portions are ample.

Love the Drake...always have. On my tour of teas and holiday teas around the world I made reservation. After a decades absence at the famed Holiday Tea time had shown the effect. The court badly worn out in need of restoration or modernization. The decoration old, dirty showing years in storage and use. Table service..nothing matched. Plates chipped. Luke all came from a discount cafeteria sale. The seating excellent. The woman handling the receipt gracious...in between yikes. Honestly the three staff...three coming to take order did not speak English. They understood nothing. No cocktails champagne ever arrived. The tea came cold never refilled. The food rather dried out. Nibbles tasted good..but nothing exceptional or wonderful. For twenty bucks and tea or coffee shop gives you better food and drink. Certainly it is a traditional family crowd..nutcracker and Drake Holiday Tea..but come on...serve a decny tea with hot water, make things sparkle..clean the place..update your service wear..have wait staff understand the customers language..and hire a musician to play holiday music at holiday tea..no longer can I hive a recommendation for tea or holiday tea at the Drake...how sad!

This is a wonderful old landmark hotel. The room we had was much larger than most rooms in the city, with a huge walk-in closet. We has a view of the Mag Mile rather than of the lake.

The staff was very courteous and efficient. The hotel bar, Coq d'Or has a menu and plenty of seating, should you want to eat there.

There are a ton of public transportation options, with buses on Michigan and a short walk to the red line. The helpful staff can assist you with the one and outs of the CTA, if you need. There are almost always cabs available at the stand as well.

Being located 2 blocks north of the Hancock, surrounded by shopping and dining, we didn't visit the hotel restaurant.

We very much enjoyed our 4 night visit, and would stay here again.
