While I've never stayed overnight as a hotel guest at The Drake, my wife and I had High Tea here one afternoon following a spa treatment across the street from this famous landmark hotel. Very grand surroundings with a see and be seen layout to the dining area for Tea. Lots of traditional offerings and the uniformed staff is attentive and exacting. It made for a memorable weekend away from the kids. Everything was excellent!

It's been several years since I have stayed here, and I must say it was a wonderful experience. The only thing we had issues with was trying to schedule tea time. I had done that online before our trip, and on travel day, I got an email that reservation was canceled. I called, and the lady helped to rebook me. We got to Chicago, but knew we would be late. Called to reschedule, and luckily I got the same lady. She said the reservation was canceled again. But she fixed it, and there was a spot for us when we got there. Hotel staff was very nice, and it was great being able to check in at lunch time. Hotel is well located at the north end of the mile, and made walking to most places easy.

Nice but truly you are paying for the name and location. For those prices you would think parking would be included or self parking (overpriced). However staff were AWESOME and very nice and helpful.

The venue and atmosphere is nice. Had a wedding shower here in the palm court, paid for free valet for the guests, but of course it was not executed and all the guests were charged. To bring the shower gifts from the room to the car was a $40 charge which is pretty hilarious. It s about a ten yard hike. Asked for coffee during the shower and would have thought I asked for a limb to be cut off the server. For the price, was really disappointed in the service, have stayed here in the past and had great experiences. Would never recommend for anyone to do any special event here. Staff is not equipped to execute and the valet staff especially is really poor. Really disappointing.

A hotel with a classic atmosphere of the 70s and 80s that appeared in the 2020s.
Everything is wrapped in nostalgia so as to think that the times have stopped.
It's hard to express how wonderful it is.
Some people end with the word old, but for people over a certain age, you'll want this atmosphere to last forever.

A wonderful hotel with top notch customer service! The Drake is convenient to all Chicago attractions via private and public transit. The accommodations are comfortable, the architecture is classic, and the design is truly beautiful. The Drake is great for vacation or business!

Went here for afternoon tea with friends. It's definitely a bit pricey, so not like a regular sort of thing (although I imagine it's common for some people in this neighborhood), but a perfect choice for doing with special friends. We had two of our kids along (ages 7 and 14) and even they enjoyed it. The tea selection was amazing - they have a lot of special teas that you aren't going to find at the Bean and Leaf or Pete's - I'm not even going to try to spell the one I got but it was amazing - everyone enjoyed theirs. The platter of food looked small for six people but it was very filling and the refilled it once, so we all left stuffed, and we didn't even finish everything. It's very high class, and the appointments were all first rate; despite that, the staff were all super nice and very affable, and even accommodating to the requests of our seven year old (like more of the cocktail pickles). I thought this would be a do it once in a lifetime and check it off the list type activity, but it was so great, I'm sure we'll be back.

Historic, well appointed, and elegant hotel. At least once a year, I m here for meetings and I always look forward to the stay. Great rooms, staff, walking distance to shopping, restaurants, downtown nightlife make this a hidden gem when it comes to hotels in Chicago.

I recently stayed at the Drake for two nights for a wedding there. This was my first time inside and I was excited. The roaring twenties charm was lost on me though when I saw the amenities. The water pressure in the bathroom was low and the tub drain was clogged. One of the curtains was broken and the room was tiny. The customer service was shockingly poor even for the bride and groom who were hosting their wedding there. The experience as a whole was underwhelming.

Food and service were excellent. I was surprised the hotel only offered a breakfast buffet in an out of the way room, though. But the manager was very nice in offering us ala carte service, which is very helpful for my wife's 94 year father.

We stayed here for four days in July. What an elegant old hotel, very well situated just off Michigan ave and near lake shore drive. Staff was friendly and helpful. Even the rates were excellent. We'll go again!

The venue is lovely and the service is good. However, the food was surprisingly awful especially for the price. The actual tea was good but at $45/person I expected better. The place was busy especially with mothers and daughters and women friends enjoying the afternoon tea ritual. For my money, I would try one of the other places in town to relax with a bracing cuppa' and scones with clotted cream.

Two months after I was at the hotel, I was charged twice with my credit card. I sent an email and never got an answer, at the chekout they said that everything was fine. When arriving from the trip cancel the credit card as we are cheated (railed) by this hotel
