Great location! The hotel itself is aging and has many small things that need tending to. The fact that there are so few outlets by the bed and desk in this day in age is sad.
The food in the restaurant is definitely not what I expected from such a dynamically sited Hilton property. There are things like dusting and vacuuming under daybeds (in case someone wants to move them around a bit and then gets turned off by all the crumbs and accumulated garbage under the daybed) that the management needs to review personally - which obviously they don't. I know these sound like small things, but come on for a prize hotel in a dynamite location at a high-ish per room cost, can't we expect top quality cleanliness?
That being said, the location is amazing - great for shopping, jogging /walking along the lake front, walking the Miracle Mile. It's all here. Just squint and you might not notice the aforementioned issues.

The hotel was horrible!!! Our room was super tiny!!! I paid 230 for a room the size of my closet. The side chair by the bed was torn apart, and it smelled in the room! Oh I couldn t sleep all night. It smelt like a antique shop or molding. I will never be booking here ever again. Definitely not worth the money.

I just had High Tea in The Palm Court with my niece and grand niece. When I made the reservation, I was asked if there was a special occasion and I said that it was my grand niece's birthday. She's turning 9. The reservationist took her name and assured me that it would be acknowledged.

It wasn't.

It was her and her mother's first experience and they were loving every minute of it. So I chose not to make a big deal out of it. But if you are going to ask, then be sure you follow through. It was a great disappointment for me to have planned this and, knowing the reputation of The Drake, I felt secure that it would happen. Boo. Hiss.

The Drake is a historic fixture here in Downtown Chicago. The hotel is right near the shopping district. I had a view of the Louis Vuitton and Gucci stores right outside my window. The lobby and is so elaborate. It's beautiful and glamorous. The staff is all so friendly. I ordered room service, and the food was amazingly delicious. I would have rated it five stars, but my room wasn't as lavish as the community spaces. The bathroom is really plane just. There was a nice flat screen with great channels, and I had the opportunity to just chill "vegging" out on movies. I definitely recommend this hotel if you visit Chicago, but just don't expect much from the room. I have been to many hotels all over the country, and my room here was just so-so in comparison.

Best tea service this side of the pond! We went here for part of my bachelorette party and it was amazing. Since its October, they are serving spooky tea, which includes beautiful and very festive items. Everything tastes delicious and the service is great. They replenish all your items right away! Courteous staff and a lovely selection of teas. The clotted cream and lemon curd are on point. If you're wondering where to go fo high tea, this is your spot!

A Chicago must see at the holidays! Love seeing the big tree and having a bit of bubbly before the Michigan Avenue Tree lighting ceremony in November... if you are downtown that day this is a must "BE" place

Used to be my favorite hotel in chicago due to the ambiance, history, common area appointments, and the lounge. My last stay was not the best. The rooms have gone downhill and we had to make requests multiple times. We had to move rooms due to a noisy next door neighbor. Each room was missing something (bottle opener, fridge, do not disturb sign) and replacements sometimes had to be asked for multiple times. A simple inventory checklist would prevent this. The roommates have dropped to very low levels, so my complaints are indicative of how cheap the hotel has become. If you are looking for luxury, this is no longer the place. It is now an average hotel with history and some amenities.

ok

My husband and I booked a room for one night 2 weeks before Christmas. We arrived early checked in with staff all was good at that point. Staff said they would call when our room was ready. They called a few hours later letting us know room was ready. When we arrived they said there was a problem and we no longer had a room. They were not apologetic at all. Will never go back!!

Covid warning: no restaurants, service or hotel help is open in this hotel. You won t even get a bottle of water - much less Parking or a meal. I d recommend anywhere else, from Palmer house, etc, this seems to be the only hotel refusing to serve food, provide close by or valet parking, or provide room service. Total waste of money

Had high tea, there was a harpist and that set the mood. The tea was good (not spectacular) and I agree with the reviews that the tables are small and you hit your knees with them bc of their level. There were scones, mini muffin, horrible quiche, good mini ham sandwich, chicken salad sandwiches. Some of the bread was really dry. It was a great experience and the ambiance was great and the food was good..

Historic hotel in Chicago. Rooms are clean and comfortable but furniture is a little old. The couch in our room was worn down on the arms and threadbare in many places, so neither one of us wanted to sit on it. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Service and appointments are impeccable. Great views from the rooms. The building is old which means the rooms are smaller and have some quirks, but we knew that going in and loved everything about it.

When we checked in for our reservations we were told they were over booked for that evening. They offered us and other guests a refund, a free night stay(for that night) at the Hilton down the road, and $20 cab fare. The staff was very friendly and apologetic.
