Great hotel and staff, amazing upgrade to a very large room. Excellent location one block away from the John Hancock tower, while still easily accessible by car. The only letdown was breakfast as instead of the usual Hilton continental breakfast, we received a voucher for an onsite coffee place (I think there was some kind of renovation going on); the staff there was however very friendly and helpful.

it has a reputation for elegance...but its not. It's a 4 star (not even close to 5 star) place that's aged poorly and staffed as poorly. No where near the money charged...plenty of really great places nearby - this is one to avoid.

We were there for the high tea.We had a reservation for 2pm and checked in promptly at that time.We waited ten minutes to be seated and saw people who checked in after getting seated ahead of us,as well as favored clientele. We brought our wait to there attention and were lied to about sitting checkin and then finally taken to a horrible table and rudely told to return to checkin if we wanted a different table. It took 30 minutes to get finally seated.

Had a great time here at The Drake Hotel. It is a fabulous hotel with so much history. It has several bars. The best bar though is clearly the Cape Cod with the initials of Joe DiMaggio and of course Marilyn Monroe.

Not worth the price you pay. I had multiple experience here that could have been better with just a little more care put forth to making your guests happy. Concierge was a joke and the rooms are in need of an update

Awesome experience. Great views, loved the charm. The staff were extremely friendly, everyone from the valet, to the front desk, to the wait staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

For the money that we paid we had a view of a wall, which was upsetting. Yes this is a historical hotel. We had friends who were also in town and we talked about staying another night. When we inquired about another night, the price of the room almost doubled. No thank you. Overall the building was beautiful but I wouldn t stay there again when I could stay in a newer hotel and get better amenities for half the price.

We came for tea time and it was well worth it. The finger foods were just that, but they were unlimited, obviously the tea was great. The service is impeccable and a go to for all ladies and their princesses.

Hello we often stay in Feb, or March but were downtown Saturday, we stopped to see lobby and gift shops. What a fabulous place we get all excited to be in drake. All our anniverarys are spent. They treat us so we'll and special. Luv it at drake, so history and memories for us....see you all soon.

The Drake is a great hotel for a weekend getaway or conference venue. The history makes this a memorable takeaway with elegant elevators and sitting areas. The staff does their best to accommodate your requests. However, the hotel shows her years in some rooms. The junior suite I upgraded to on-site gave me and my companions a great conversation area, but the room itself was barely stocked. No paper and pen for desk. Extra roll of toilet paper was in closet outside the bathroom. There was no hotel book in the room to help with the layout and information. I definitely would make sure you know what is being upgraded and compare to your expectations before you actually upgrade. The executive lounge was not on par with other hotels but it offered a nice view of the lake shore and a small area to enjoy chatting with your friends. There's no pool. The location is great for enjoying all that the downtown area has to offer.

Extremely disappointing !! I had to leave the 2nd night of a 2 day reservation, I informed the front desk . They informed me that an early departure fee at a cost of a total of a 3rd nightz stay would be added ! Lesson learned... I will never inform a hotel if I need to depart early from my reservation. Also will NEVER stay at The Drake Hotel or Hiltons again ! To many other choices to stay !

"Drake Hotel, Chicago" -- at a tender age that was my introduction to The Drake hotel from Mission Impossible, and clearly it made an impression as I hiked along the Magnificent Mile to see The Drake. The hotel on the outside is not that impressive, but inside the hotel is beautiful and well-worth a look.

I sat in the lobby/bar area and drank tea, listening to the fountain, and watching the other patrons. It was relaxing, but I also thought about my next mission!

Amazing hotel in the heart of Chicago. Beautiful rooms and general hotel experience with comfortable beds and great staff. Truly an excellent choice for your stay no matter why you're in Chicago.

Stayed there for a weekend with my ex-bf. It was superb. Location was amazing and we loved the lux accomodations. My only beef was the rooms seemed a little dated (older carpet, smaller TV's).

A beautiful, classic Chicago hotel. The rooms are large and upgraded, but still hold so much of the traditional old-world Chicago in them. I wish we had a chance to do the afternoon tea, as everyone we spoke to raved about it. The views from the executive lounge were second to none.

Excellent service. Lightning fast cocktails would make John Taffer proud. Historical location. The Drake is a superb cocktail, although sweeter than expected. The orange zest is a nice touch. Comfortable seating and didn't feel rushed at all. Water is plentiful. 10/10 would recommend.

Outstanding customer service. The wonderful employees are AMAZING. Their warm greetings and big smiles makes you feel like you just entered a HOUSE OF JOY. I love the folks at the checking desk. Wait time is under 1 minute. I love it all! Wait the parking is the only think I did not enjoy but good news I didn't drive

Classic old hotel with big rooms. Excellent, courteous service. Very convenient location with lots within walking distance and a 10 minute walk to the L. Very impressive, well appointed event spaces.

Went for afternoon tea with my wife for our anniversary. I hadn't done something like this since I was in England. It was very nice, and I really like how they don't rush you out. Telling you up front it will take about 1.5 hours.

Can't really say anything bad. Other than the cheaper alternative rooms are quite small. Their jr suites & anything up from that are nothing short of amazing. Staff are very accomodating. Views of Lake Michigan are breathtaking

Beautiful outside but rotten inside, the hotel staff are on the unfriendly side and it's a money grab!

I arrived early and was told early registration is 25$ that was 2 hours before the registration time. Thought to go explore the city, came back at 12 to register but was told my room will only be ready at 3pm. Whats the point of registering if you dont get the room? Was told conviniently that there is another room available 35$/night in addition.
The hotel has a wifi in the lobby but good luck connecting to it! Way to go Hilton, looks like you are counting every penny! And whats with 17.5% tax? Was staying for 3 nights was supposed to pay 640$ +tx but ended up with a withdrawal of 1000$. They even took a depoist of 75$ in addition+tx. The tax amount was never mentioned so be aware!

Oh and just learned that all the perks of being a Hilton member will be inavailable during my stay! Have to even get a key, probsbly no complimentory wifi either!

Room I got was nice but really dated, whats with hotels and carpets? Oh and the best part, its a second Hilton that I stayed in that does never clean their windows. I had actual spider webs all over my window! Window was coated with it! You pay for the view i guess.

I stayed at many hotels but Hiltons to me are always dissapointing and never worth the money they charge or the stars they have! Had better service in other hotels with lower rating!

Fantastic experience at the hotel. Check-in and out went very smoothly. Located in a prime neighborhood - loads of retail stores and restaurants nearby. Short bikeride to the Navy Pier and millennium park.

Just checking in and already off to a bad start. 50 bell hops and 2 people working the desk. Waiting.... waiting... terrible service thus far.

Update. Slightly above average hotel gym- up to 50 pd dumbbells; weight machines: and a wide variety of cardio. Rooms are dingy, outdated and small. They are trying to sell the hotel as being classic, but really its a dump. If it were not for the gym it would be 1 star with the terrible service. Good location.

Great location in downtown chicago. Historic hotel housing the bar the served the second drink after prohibition ended in the united states. Nice lobby and friendly staff. My room was fairly large for an old downtown hotel like this but my coworkers said they had small rooms so I suppose they have big and small depending on the location. Seconds from the magnificent mile and the famous Chicago water tower.

We arrive for our stay and we are greeted with courteous service and we step into the elevator expecting a glorious experience given the reviews we had heard. To our displeasure our room was soiled, wet towels on the floor and unkempt beds. Despite the staff reassuring us of the extra cleanliness being provided due to covid-19. We then return to the lobby.

We are upgraded to an executive suite as a courtesy for our inconvenience with our initial room. Hoping our problems are solved, we arrive to discover our floors are littered with someone else's hair and lint and bits of what resembled toenail clippings. I was very uncomfortable and stressed and hoped to take a shower only to find our shower had no working hot water. They have to send a maintenance man to our room to fix the problem.

My friend and I were in town to celebrate. Our stay was supposed to be about finally achieving a goal literally 14 years in the making. Instead I have payed for a room that wasn't clean and comped to a room that was only slightly better. I hate that I was disappointed as I had heard such wonderful things from a friend who had stayed years back. Hopefully things will improve for future guests. It really is a beautiful place and the staff at the front desk were friendly, hence my 2 stars out of 5 remain.

Certainly not worth the price! Check in took an hour then no help to our rooms. Stepped on a carpet tack every time in and out of the bathroom! Pillow were not great and took 45 min to get 2 more. Rate not what we were quoted at reservation time although Heather was awesome when I called the reservation line. Location was convenient but I m sure we can find some place else next time.

Went for high tea, which I've always enjoyed at the Drake. It felt a little lack-luster this time around. The vegetarian options were a tad on the sad side (photo included). I'll give it another try, though, I'm sure.
