Wonderful to visit in all seasons. Easy to distance. Entrance fee. Outdoor toilet.
Wonderful to visit in all seasons. Easy to distance. Entrance fee. Outdoor toilet.
Great family destination. Love Dawes. A lot of different sections and gardens. Plenty of trails. The Visitor Center will loan out free backpacks for kids for birdwatching, bug catching or a few others. Kids loved the packs so much we're making copies for our house. Japanese garden is amazing, but so is the whole park. Lot to see. There is a fee now, which is new but you can easily spend the day if you pack lunch. 30 min East of Columbus
Nothing worth while is free. For those complaining about the price of admission..stop to think for one second of the costs associated with groundskeepers, maintenance, etc. .. this a privately owned property.
Don't like it..buy your own 300 acres and open it to the public for free.
It is a beautiful, tranquil, serene place. If you are quiet and observant, you might see turtles and other creatures in the water. Even when the plants are not in full bloom, it is one of my favorite parts of the arboretum.
Great place to walk an unwind. Lots of great history points
Great park. Been a feed years since I've been here but had a great time here
This is a beautiful place! Bring yourself a picnic and try to stay all day, there is so much to look at!
Premier horticultural experience in central Ohio. Buy a membership! Members enjoy free admission all year as well as reciprocity at hundreds of other horticultural sites throughout the country.
Very nice , loved watching the birds and the drive thru Dawes
I always loved Dawes. In the spring membership will be required
Came here with family for many years for free now you have to pay to get in. No discounts for Fairfield County residents.
Traveled quite a distance today and wound up with it being closed, we knew it would close at 5, but gate said closed and try again. We will try visiting again.
such a beautiful place and a wonderful amount of variety to walk through whether it be the Japanese garden or the redwood forest. A truly awe inspiring place to be.
First time here. Need to get back and do some more exploring soon.
Wonderful, active, educational, well tended, nice Arboretum.
There is a visitor center, education classes, student learning facilities, and frequent activities.
It's not the best at labels, but there are many.
It's not my favorite, mostly because of the location. The traffic sounds, road visibility and crowds.
One of the world's largest hedge letterings--2,040 ft long! Dawes is a beautiful place to bike or hike through.
The park closes at 6:30 they start chasing you out at 6. Never again will I visit
Dawes Arboretum was 5 star amazing. The colors of the trees were spectacular!!!! So peaceful. The smell of fall throughout. One of the best days of the year to enjoy the beauty of nature. There are 2 lakes, almost 700 acres of a large variety of trees, and driving and walking trails. This is God's playground.
It's a beautiful place to walk around, but it reminds me of a golf course with a few trees. They could look to fill out the property with more plantings, as it would continue to grow and add to the landscape throughout the seasons.
We love Dawes! The Japanese Garden is very peaceful. We took a nice long hike also.
Always a joy to see the bushes and walk around. Lovely trees.
Great place to go for a quite walk or drive, they do have a car path which takes you through much of the park. The view from the lookout tower at sunset is great.
Not worth the money. Kind of pretty but some ponds are drained. The Japanese gardens part of the park is pretty though
Nice place until you consider they are going to start charging to visit. Not just a little bit either. Today's visit with my family will be going from free to like $60.
Great place. Took the grafting class, very educational with wonderful instructors. Wish we had another hour of class it was that fun. Can't wait to try at home.
Everyone should visit here at least once a year. Stunning.
Love going here and walking or biking. Good to have a place like this close by. They have some fun events and festivals through the year as well.
We were a little disapointed. It's an old farm where they planted a bunch of trees. If you're into trees and plants, this is the place.
Love the beauty of this place, even in the dead and cold of winter.
A beautiful place to visit with many different species of tree, shrubs. if you horticulture this is the place to visit.
Just an awesome place for everything outdoors! One of my favorite places to run.
This was a very beautiful place with a lot of different trails to walk on. It was nice for a days outing.
Very nice but sad they are going to start charging to visit
I used to love coming here. Now they charge $10 dollars per person. I m willing to pay to get in but they should charge per car and a lot less. It s beautiful but it s not a theme park.
It costs too much to get in. Nature should be free to all
An amazing palce to do the driving tour or get out and walk the many walking trails. Overall a Great place to visit!!!
A nice place to ride around looking for birds and to see a wide variety of trees. There was a lot of dead trees all over the place. This was our last free trip since they are going to start charging a fee to enter the premises.
Absolutely gorgeous outdoor space with plenty to see. Handicap accessible, and you'll need a couple of hours to see it all (3-4 to see the whole place). Beautiful views any season. Well worth a stop!
Beautiful area...i love to go and walk around w my mother.
Absolutely beautiful. Well kept grounds while also maintaining conservation of wildlife efforts. Very spacious
WAY too expensive, ten per person. Closes too early, has three listings for parks even though it's technically one, so we turned right around, so not worth the price.
Wonderful park, been there many a time. But now it s $10 to get in? Not sure I will be back, nor could recommend it unless you re really into seeing a nice display of a large variety of trees or are a serious arborist
Dawes is a wonderful local resource! My kids love going, especially visiting the Story Walk.
Beautiful place great for pictures and if u hunt for painted rocks there are some there. Have activities and events for kids and adults. Nice wedding venue. Nice place to walk dogs.
Dawes has a rich history and community-based mission that gives it character and pride. Many different biomes and areas to hike over 3,000 acres... somewhere different can be explored everyday.
So I noticed a small sign on I70 East on the way to Zanesville. No clue what this place was but decided to check it out. It's a real hidden gem. So it's kind of like a metro Park. Really beautiful to drive. It is about trees but they have areas with themes. I loved the Japanese garden area. There isn't really a playground that I saw. But lots of places to walk or picnic. Some of the parts are a bit of a struggle with a stroller so probably tough for a wheel chair. But lots of little one way driving paths. Various places you can park and walk around. It was just a really beautiful and really peaceful place. There is a bathroom by the main entrance which is in the visitor center. Will go again.
It s been a long time, but I can still remember the tricolor beech tree. I ve read many reviews but no one mentions the gorgeous beech tree right near the entrance. I can t imagine that. You couldn t miss it, unless it sickened and died. Please tell me it s still there.
Came here in a whim with the family and was pleasantly surprised. This place is amazing! This is a beautiful park with so much to explore along the trails. I only spent a couple hours here with my family but we were already discussing our next trip before we even left!
Beautiful place to visit! I wish they had more than 1 bathroom (located right at the front entrance). The staff if always super helpful if you ask questions. They have an indoor nature center for little ones.
We stopped by Dawes to pick up my son's stay at home camp kit. It was great and so were they.
I love Dawes. It's beautiful but I refuse to pay to get into a park.
Beautiful place for a walk or a run. They're open 361 days a year and a membership is reasonably priced. If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you.
Beautiful landscaping and very helpful staff who go above and beyond to help when possible. Just FYI, they moved to an admissions model (get a membership if you plan to go more than once a year) at some point in the last couple of years, but they have certainly taken the revenue and put it right back into beautification of the arboretum and creating additional scenes and setting to stumble across. Looking forward to visiting multiple times over the Fall.
Dawes Arboretum is simply a quiet retreat that is large enough to lose yourself in no matter how many people are on the property. It is simply a peaceful spot where you can surely find an outdoor space to fit your mood that day. The gift shop always has something pleasant and of the hands on nature space is fantastic for kids.
Beautiful grounds and scenery! We drove 2 hours south just to visit and it was well worth it!
One of the most beautiful spots in central Ohio. Make a special trip, if you can.
Have always loved this place since early childhood, used to go more frequently when I lived in the area. The grounds look well maintained and manicured as they always have been. The more recent newer additions look nice as well. They are entirely funded by private and voluntary donations as well as what they sell in the gift shop, admission is free. I will continue to go to Dawes every time I'm in the area, it truly is hands down the nicest and best Arboretum I've ever been to. It was really nice to see this place again. If you have never been to Dawes I highly suggest you check it out if you get the chance.
I went to the Arboretum for a little party they had for Arbor day. It was a fun little outing, but the Arboretum itself is not really my thing. I would have consider going there for some nice scenic walks back when it was free, but now that they charge admission I don't think I will be going back. There are plenty or other free places with trees...
The Dawes Arboretum is a great place to explore nature and take photographs. Check out the view from the observation deck, on a clear day you can see for miles. There are numerous trails with info guides which are very informative. You can't miss the massive Beach Tree near the office it's rumored to be around 200 years old.
There is an obvious hidden gem about 1,000 feet long right before your eyes near the pond. Very hard to see when you are walking through it, easy to spot from a plane. Hint: It's all in the name:-) Check google maps.
The park itself is great. Beautiful and a wonderful spot to take a walk. The gift shop has some unique items. Worth a look around.
Something for nature lovers of all ages and it is free to go and enjoy all year round. Love walking here.
We love taking our kids here. It makes for a beautiful local day trip.
Dawes Arboretum is anti-gun and the ugly gunbuster sign on such a beautiful stone entryway was enough to keep me and the family from visiting again. This is probably the only CPZ park in Ohio that is open to the public. I love nature, but not at the cost of informing criminals that we are defenseless there. Criminals, have fun in this paradise as law-abiding visitors are unarmed.
Very scenic and tranquil. Wonderful place for picnics and strolling on the trails. The grounds are always beautifully manicured. Admission is 10 per adult, but well worth it!
AWEsome! The children's Discovery area was a great surprise. We flew a styrofoam airplane off the triple deck tower, and the kids chased it time and again.
We were greeted by a VERY kind young lady, she smiled and waved us up, and then kindly told us that she would bend us over $10 a person and we laughed and turned around. I could understand ten clams a car but PER person? This is a joke.
