3 night staycation during covid, checked in 08/27/2020.
I have to say that there's a lot left to desire and you don't get what you pay for. After having stayed at another resort a couple weeks ago.

The service is nice. Sadly, there are limited hours of service on everything.

Note that there is a gap in food service resort wide from 10:00am - 11:30am. With no opportunity to order and ANY food or drinks during that time.

No room service
No spa
No Fitness center
No valet
No pool slide
Pool Service ends at 5pm on the weekends & 2pm on weekdays.
Dinner food options close at 9pm.
Pool hours 8am-8pm

Additionally, the quality of food was not Marriott standard. In that all the entrees were served with over cooked kettle chips and no option for substitution.
The ceviche at the pool side was $18 was the size of a sample cup and too spicy.

This review is hard to post as every single staff member was nice and courteous.
From the pool servers, the lobby bar to the breakfast counter, last but not least the top of the rock restaurant.

However, I wouldn t recommend staying here with the limited hours and under-staffing.

This review is for the appearance and friendliness if the hotel employees, and primarily the Top of the Rock restaurant.

The hotel itself is classy, with lovely carpeting and apparently an excellent cleaning crew. I frequently see a high influx of visitors there, which is a great sign. Upon visiting, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and were able to answer most of the questions I had.

The Top of the Rock restaurant is... Interesting. I've been to this restaurant 3 times- once many years ago, which turned out terrible. Once 3 months ago, which was also not that great. Finally, I visited on the Fourth of July, and was met with an incredible meal from their new chefs. Their menu morphed a little from 3 months before, with some menu items that I had ordered last time (a bread soup and a side) having disappeared. When I tried them, they were awful, so I'm very happy they're gone.

This time, I enjoyed the view of multiple fireworks shows from a perch above the cityscape. I had an incredible meal, with a beautiful dessert at the end that had a wonderful balance.

So, prospective visitor: it is excellent. If you visited once prior, I urge you to try it again. They have vastly improved and it is wonderful to have such a classy experience so close by.

Great resort like feel, service is great, everyone is friendly. Pool is nice, has wading river. Message was awesome. 2nd year here, never disappointed. You will definitely get your exercise walking around here, food is also good.

The pool is amazing. The layout of the bathroom area is a little awkward, but it works. I'm vexed they choose doubles instead of queens in the 2-bed rooms, which makes traveling with kids an unfortunate cram for the parents.

Really attentive and friendly hotel staff. Cool location, with views of the valley in all directions. We loved the hot tubs and giant swimming pool. The room was comfortable, although the mattress needed more support for my back. The dinner was incredible, and breakfast buffet was also excellent, with amazing service.

I went here a few days ago and this place is absolutely worth it, even better its literally in the mountains! Spacious rooms and the designs of the pools were phenomenal. The view from the 5th floor overlooking the entire city is breathtaking. #ThumbsUp

What an amazing location, the scenery is gorgeous. This place provides all the perks to keep their guests busy. The hotel staff is fantastic, the interior theme is classy and everywhere inside was very clean. It has such an exclusive setting that enhances the experience.

This place is always nice. It overlooks the ASU baseball fields, so ive always wanted to have dinner while a game was going on, but, alas, have not.
There may be better restaurants in the Phoenix valley, but the food here is certainly good.
Rooms are nice, beds high end and comfortable.

Nice hotel a bit dated. The staff was very nice. We stayed over the holiday in December. The hotel was almost empty. The high was in the 50s so swimming was out. Kids did get in for about 10 minutes, the pool was heated to 83 but that was a very cold 83. They have 3 hot tubs that we did use.

The hotel is built into a rocky hillside, parking is $15, resort fee another $12 per day. The location is nice but there is a noisy freeway on one side. I had the fortune of getting upgraded to the poolside but I imagine the freeway side is very noisy. The room was adequate but dated. 70's popcorn ceiling style. The room had a patio and I wish there had been a way to leave the door partially open at night because the room was so stuffy but it was only a sliding door and no other window. I did not want to leave it open over night for security. I was there on a Tuesday and it was very busy. I am sure it was a great place in it's heydays but it feels now ready for a makeover. There is nothing else around there, so you will need a car to drive to other restaurants. I have stayed at so many hotels because of work, I will rate it OK but not great. BTW, no concierge level. They give elite members of certain status free continental breakfast or points. I still usually prefer hotels with a concierge level though.

Top of the Rock is a beautiful and great location for a nice dinner. Having been there only for anniversary dinners, I can only give it the highest praise for seeing the tone for a great night.

An incredible resort-hotel, good value, my kids love the three pools and waterslide and two jacuzzis nestled into the side of a bluff.
The food and the service were great and our family gathering had a really wonderful time.

The resort is beautiful. The exterior and interior naturally fit with the landscape and is very unique. Only downside is the freeway nearby as without that you would likely forget you are in the middle of one of the largest cities in America.

Been coming to this hotel annually during Memorial Weekend well over a decade. I've seen the hotel during it's good and bad times. I've been very impressed with their recent investments into the property. Rooms are amazing. Pool is great and the bar has an awesome selection of drinks. Overall, you won't regret your stay here! It's worth it.

Check-in was TERRIBLE. Also, I spoke to a rude phone representative as I was trying to get my room keys. However, Chris at the front desk ended up getting me two rooms right next to each other w one room being upgraded. Elizabeth at the front desk also gave me some f&b vouchers due to our rooms be ready late and the rude phone rep. Jake at the pool was a fantastic server. He went above and beyond.

If it wasn't for the bad check-in time experience, I'd give The Buttes 5 stars.

Compared to other Marriots I stayed at this place was lacking. I mean the outside was beautiful, but the room itself was decent size but felt so empty. Like just a giant bed and not much else.

Stayed for 2 weeks. Service was excellent! Wi-fi was in & out, but they fixed it immediately. Hopefully they will upgrade the chairs in the conference rooms soon. Other than that wonderful & beautiful hotel! Close to lots of amenities & Mill Ave. They have the best breakfast bacon around!!

Very nice facility. Really cool how it's built into the rock formations. Clean and modern decor. Service was good. Did not have any food during my stay so I cannot comment on that. Had a king bed in my room and it was nice as well. Bathroom was up to date. I did not swim, but the pool looked nice and well kept.

I'm a lifetime Platinum Elite having stayed in Marriott's all over the world. This is the worst condition Marriott I've ever been at...nothing has ever come close. I just wasted 70K points for only 2 days staying here on vacation with my wife. See pictures below; the hallway even looks worse. This facility is an embarrassment to the Marriott name.

Friendliest staff in the valley!

Friendliest staff in the valley!

I love this facility. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly. They offer coffee in the lobby and guest entrance every morning and iced water in the afternoons. They offer yoga on Saturday and Sunday mornings by the pool. Market Cafe has a breakfast buffet that you can t beat and if you re looking to enjoy a nice dinner with a view, check out Top of the Rock.

Although; in my opinion, the star of the show is the pool. Two large pools adjoined by a lazy river and a slide. You would think that can t get any better, right? Well, you re in for a treat; because they have a full bar and towel service at the pool!

10/10 would recommend.
Enjoy your vacation.

We came here for our anniversary for the second year in a row. I highly recommend this place for a fun get away!!! Not only is it beautiful but the staff is helpful and friendly. Also Top Of The Rock restaurant has some of the best food I have ever had!

We have stayed here at least 3-4 times a year in the past. Now I know why we stopped because today again we thought it would be nice to get away from the house on Easter and take the kids swimming. Easter 2018 again the same issues as always....kids bored bug for the slide to be open and every time always an excuse. Today some pump was out and not like we haven't heard that before. Now this will be the last time for sure. Never again. Customer Service is not as good as it used to be either. Waited 30 minutes for a drink at the pool. Not acceptable as much as they charge for rooms. Very disappointed again as always.
