Location a little out of the way..but worth the trip and we enjoy a little less people
a nice little square infront, tho I was not able to get in the arsenale because it was closed
Lovely place, it seems like its stopped time..humpt not to have visited it
It is not always possible to enter, but it is an essential part of the history of Venice
In the midst of so many beauties, though shining, it is blurred like a stone
Eh guys !! What a story! What a wonderful republic was the serenissima !!! Why is only the Roman Empire studied in school books? Venice and its fleets, battles, colonies ... What a magnificent civilization the Venetians have built in the world!
Relax in Venice? Yes, there is indeed, right here. Off the main tourist route you will find here some peace and relaxation.
We didn't go in, but the place is gorgeous outside. Well maintained, clean and impressive. Is worth
Impressive place!
You can't get into the building, but it's still worth it!
Small museum with just 4 halls, it's nice to check out and avoid all the tourists for once. The staff was tailing me for a while giving me non verbal hints they're closing in 20 minutes.
Beautiful museum with several pieces related to navigation.
Very nice museum is definitely worth seeing a splendor
This exact building is military restricted so you'll want to go to the Marine museum. Not sure if it was worth visiting
Too bad that there are only 5 stars! Ancient complex of shipyards and workshops. It constitutes a very large part of the insular city at its eastern end (in the Castello district). About a quarter of the area is occupied by the Venice Biennale and only this, unfortunately, can be visited.
Lovely place to visit, always a quiet oasis just off the beaten track.
Neighborhood far from San Marco Square, quieter, with a beautiful lion guarding the door of Arsenal.
I went to the Arsenale on the occasion of the Architecture Biennale and I must say that the place alone is unique and evocative in itself plus the exhibition could only deserve 5 stars TO VISIT !!!!!!
Little can be said more than it is a military space where only authorized personnel can access, but we can give ourselves the pleasure of enjoying a good view and taking beautiful photos.
Characteristic and not crowded, worth the detour from the usual route.
District of Venice very little frequented by tourists and yet presenting an architecture different from other districts.
Very typical place far from the tourist frenzy where you will find typical small restaurants, tapas bar and market. It is the sailors' quarter.
The Arsenale Is an Amazing construction, really worth to walk in this part of Venice. Not possible to enter because is a military base. There is a museum close by with old vessels that were built in the Arsenale in the past.Spend time here especially if you want to get away from the crowd of turists.
I found this area really nice and enjoyed walking along the promenade by the seafront. The streets open up and get quieter the further you get from St. Mark's Square, and it's really peaceful once you get down towards the parks. There are More
Far from the noise, a quiet and unspoiled place to discover.
Nice museum thanks above all to the story of the voluntary military navy guide.
Many models and reproduction of 18th century ships ... impressive weapons and old uniforms. Too bad the windows are dusty ... the sun does not forgive this kind of "defect".
Very exciting to know that from there passed the ships that dominated the Mediterranean
Interesting museum a step away from Piazza San Marco
Very charming. It would be nice to see it even from the inside
Its landscape is very beautiful, the best is the gelatto, its very friendly people, despite not knowing their language, the people understood us and informed us, the stay was very comfortable, thanks to its people, we will return.
The arsenal is definitely worth a visit. Superb wall with tower all in red bricks. It was a military shipyard.
Quiet borrough, very different from other parts of venice.
Relax place after sightseeing around Venice for awhile and have a cafe for your break and chill out.
We visited the ship pavilion and the arsenal gardens. All very nice and interesting for children too
Finally a place where you can take pictures without shooting thousands of tourists! Canal clearing boats and few people around ...
During the art festival, the Navy Base gets converted to a giant art center. Typically not easy to access parts of this base, except during the festival which happens every other year. This was a mass production sites for wooden combat vessels in the height of the Venetian Republic.
Wonderful area of Venice, uncrowded, beautiful colors
Impressive square, full of statues that give access to the castle.
An absolutely great location! One of our favorites in Venice. A visit to the Bienale is highly recommended! Again and again!!!
The heart of the naval power of the Republic of Venice
From the world's largest weapons factory, it is now the largest and longest-running contemporary art exhibit on the planet. A fomidable emotion having been there several times.
Very nice area. Quiet and without all the tourists who are a bridge beyond. There are also some restaurants.
I visited the museum, very beautiful and full of boats from the past to admire.
To be seen
Very particular historical construction, here in the past ships and boats were built.
Castello takes its name from an old fortress which has now disappeared and which was on the island of Saint Pierre. It is the largest district of the city and the Arsenal occupies an important place. You will discover the sobriety of the houses where the workers of the Arsenal lived as opposed to the splendor of the palaces of the Grand Canal.
You will experience popular life in this area less visited by tourists. If you go shopping on Via Garibaldi, expect to be targeted by shopkeepers ... like on 5th Street in Playa Del Carmen. Take a stroll on the Schiavoni Shore. The shore begins at the Paglia bridge next to the Ducal Palace, along the way you will see the palazzo dei Prigioni, or if you prefer the New Prison. Not very far, really not very far away is the luxurious Danieli Excelsior hotel, a place made famous by its famous customers, passing by Balzac, Dickens, Wagner among others.
The Arsenal was the heart and maritime center of Venice. The Arsenal was built in 1104 while the Venetians were in conflict with the neighboring powers. They needed a place to store war materials. The Arsenal is closed to the public but the Arsenal museum will teach you more. If you opt for a visit, be aware that the opening hours are short, Monday to Friday: 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday: 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Sunday closed.
Arsenale
Campo de l'Arsenal, 30122 Venice, Italy
I participated in a demonstration in defense of city residents, and against the policy of selling off all of our buildings to hotels, already home to public services and activities.
This place it's abandoned, at least when I went in June 2020.
