Words and letters are not enough to describe the magnificence, elegance and paradoxical contemporary fragility of this immortal work. These are the human beings who know how to be such. To be seen.

Venice does not have a fragment that is not history, the arsenal, with its dry docks and its naval museum, talk about how navigation once was, in rowing, with the first steam engines and more. Absolutely not to be missed.

This Navy arsenal is rich in history that begins with the twelfth century with its birth to undergo substantial transformations and enhancements in the following centuries. The structure is complex and not all of it can be visited. Some rooms are used for exhibitions and events such as the Venice Biennale or international architecture exhibitions. It used to be the state-run shipyard of the Republic of Venice and is currently being used as a naval base. Inside, it still retains some of the old shipyard, and it is usually not accessible to the public, but it seems to be open for free if there is an event. However, at this time, the opening time will be changed to 10:00 instead of 8:45.

The lions dear to Corto Maltese always stand guard at the entrance. They are not Venetian lions but spoils of war brought back from Morea (Greece) or Constantinople. The arsenal cannot be visited, although it is a reference in the city. The arsenal forms an enormous enclave in Venice, with its rope-making. Today it is occupied by the national navy. It is only open to the public during biennials or other major events. It is a very beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing place.

Beautiful place, which previously functioned as the main port for Venice after 1797 when the city conquered Napoleon, the port rebuilt into a military naval base, today the site belongs to the state and has a museum, cultural facilities or there is held Art Biennale ...

The 12 ... (already the n 12 says a lot ...) hands of L.Quinn, they are only an attempt as another to amaze, but they are only works that in the long run tire ... ..just with exaggerated dimensions for the context, respect for Venice!

A fascinating place where Venice built ships in its heyday. A peice of history, where a ship could be built and fully equipped in hours. The spaces inside are huge rooms where the Biennale exhibits are shown.

Wonderful place! I only flew over it, like Venice for that matter. However, I noticed a lot of architectural details. The very charming little square, with little cafes and the little canal next door. The area was less crowded, it brings a more relaxed atmosphere. Finally the surroundings are dotted with tiny alleys and it quickly becomes quite an adventure to rush into them.

The two times I went it was at night and I did not see it well, if I liked the amount of labyrinthine narrow streets of the area, I liked walking through the night ahy, and it is quite safe.

The complex is the only example of a shipyard and weapons factory that has always maintained the same nature and function for seven centuries, even after the decline of the Republic of Venice. The ownership of most of the Arsenale has, since 2013, passed to the Municipality of Venice, while the remaining part remains with the Italian Navy, [5] present in the area with its Institute for Maritime Military Studies and the Naval History Museum. About a quarter of the large complex is used by the Venice Biennale for its contemporary art exhibitions.
