I live in a shelter run by Westhab. They are grossly understaffed. We are given no information about how to get a housing voucher unless we beg for it. I was here 5 months, before the housing specialist agreed to see me only to find out I had had a housing voucher in the system since I had arrived. The food is terrible. They have a bizzare and complicated protocol for getting anything done. I had to have three meetings and spend about 5 hours of my time over a period of 2 weeks just to get a metrocard so that I could get to an early morning medical procedure. The current supervisor schedules "house meetings" , but she is chronically late and disrespectful of the residents by dismissing their questions. Some employees are caring, but there are too many residents (200+) and only 2 housing specialists.
