Absolutely loved this place! Down a star purely because it was difficult to navigate. We timed it well so it was reasonably quiet too and the exhibits are so unique. Well worth a visit but their Planets museum is equally awesome if not better and is much easier to navigate and was also quieter - handy if you're short on time.
There is something absolutely magical about this place. The price tag seems steep but you can spend HOURS getting lost in here. Yes, it s and Instagram haven but it s also an imagination experience.
Interesting and unique art exhibition. They use light projection on walls and floors to generate Interesting experiences. It is also amazingly well located next to a giant mall, ferris wheel, and between two stations in Odaiba.
One of the best experiences of the trip. Full of hidden rooms with excellent effects. You can't miss the lamps room, they just let small groups to go inside, great place for pictures. We arrived a Saturday early in the morning and we had to wait in line for almost one hour. We spent more than 2 hours inside and when we went out the line was much shorter. I'd advice to go at noon, it seems you won't have to wait as we did.
Mori digital art museum, long cues even with pre-bought tickets. I waited 45 minutes to get in. Psychedelic colourful sensory overload at first, but after a while you get used to it and can start to enjoy the patterns and forms. There are several themed rooms, 2 floors. I found the crystal room to be the most spectacular. Millions of LEDs hanging from the ceiling, rendering wonderful fireworks, rain, waves, fire, crystal chandelier all over (with an excited oooh from the viewers and an awww as it ended), room with mirrored floor and great lightshow, another mirrored room full of colour changing lamps, a room with waist high leaf structures with light projections on them and the walls, room with waves room with interactive holograms of warriors/people/animals, quite cool and impressive all in all. Sadly, the app which you were supposed to be able to interact with the art didn't work (samsung s8). Tea room to relax in and more good stuff upstairs mostly for kids. The balloon room was fun but unreal!
Cool place. But like most of Tokyo it's pretty crowded. After standing in line to get in, you have to do more lines inside the museum.. Has a lot of cool lights and music/sounds. Some rooms might be more interesting than others. There is no right nor wrong way to go through. You decide your own path. The lights in there really looks good on camera
The Team Digital 3D lab was phenomenal. We followed their suggestion of getting there after 3 to avoid long lines and were very happy we did. There was a 30-40 minute wait for the hammocks,so we skipped it,but the rest of the installations were great, plenty to be amazed by.
teamLab Borderless is definitively worth a visit! It is very important to book the tickets in advance via their website - it is a very popular place! Inside the venue you lol have to explore the different rooms, there is no map and no directions - you really need to discover everything yourself. It is a neat concept, but when it is very full it is hard and annoying to find every room. When we visited teamLab borderless we missed some rooms and the queues for some rooms were very long - but it is worth a visit nonetheless!
Now this is art. No stuffy, snobby old canvases here. Just technology- projectors and LEDs organized by high powered computers to make some amazing, colorful and vibrant scenes. I loved the "no map" idea, you just roam around at your own pace and direction. The hidden rooms were also a very cool idea- rewarding visitors for exploring.
The LED strips hanging from the ceiling were incredible and mirrors on the floor made the whole experience other worldly. I would have liked to have seen what could have been done with those lights though. Drawing 3D shapes or figures would be a neat application.
First time that I've experienced teamLab. It was a great visual experience! The venue consists of two floors with a Cafe, which I recommend to visit after you've explored the first half/bottom floor. If you think you are done for the day, try to look up on the internet if you have missed any rooms or not. The staff can point you into the right direction.
Take precaution and wear flat shoes to reduce your chance of falling in the dark rooms.
Huge and crowded somehow can t stop feelings of discovery and wonder. The second floor was jaw dropping in inventiveness and fun. The no map idea is interesting. Feeling like we were there 30 or 40 minutes turned out to have been well over 2h. Absolutely amazing.
Fast entry at opening hour and efficient, friendly staff! This place is a major photo op and experience for everyone of all ages to enjoy. There are some lines into some areas however so worth the wait. Visuals and surround sound everywhere. So good!!
Super cool and found myself getting lost as there were so many rooms to go into. Amazing place to go with so many things to see. Truly an experience that you cannot get anywhere else.
I arrived 30minutes early to doors being opened and there was already a pretty long line to get in. They staff were efficient and quick getting people in and out. Some exhibits have longer lines than others and there is a time line you can stay in them.
Good, I mean, yeah. Not so interactive like advertised. It is basically a maze of many rooms with light effects. Go there if you have not seen that part of Tokyo. The metro line going to this stop goes above ground and has great views.
Amazing! Very interactive. Make sure to read instructions for the best experience. Hit up Crystal World, Forest of Lamps and the Nest early - lines can get quite long!
This event space is designed to capitalize on the social media selfie scene. It is a very expensive ($35 US) event space focused on kitschy poor resolution full immersion digital projections that are best enjoyed by younger children. There are digital interactive drawing and athletic activities on the second floor geared for the youth. That said - the queue on a weekday morning to enter this exhibition was 1 hour. The wait time queue once inside the space for the Floating Nest experience was an additional hour, and the Floating Nest is totally not worth waiting any length of time to see. In general, these are very long wait times for children. My recommendation is that if you decide you must do this (I wouldn t, go instead to a beautiful park with a great playground), move the kids up to the second floor quickly which is where the interactive best part of this exhibition is located. Outside - unhealthy fast food fare is available to consume - Wendy s, etc etc.
A magical place where drawings come to life and crawl across the floor! Definitely a must-see in Tokyo, but try to arrive before noon to avoid a long wait.
Everything was awesome, really an experience and you should totally visit! what made me a bit grumpy though was the "net activity" I stood in line for an hour and managed to get in just at the end of an performance and only got to see the 2 last innutes of the show, while the whole group got to see 10 minutes. I tried explaining that I only got in the end and wanted to see the performance but I wasn't allowed too. 1 hour to see a few dots on the ceiling... sucks. other than that it was a really pleasant experience.
There is some really cool digital artwork to see. The Athletic Room was my favorite and the way some of the animals interact with people in the exhibit is pretty cool, too. Second favorite thing has to be the LED light display, but the companion app that is supposed to make it more interactive is not good at all. Get there early or you will be waiting a long to get in.
Interesting place. Kids liked it. Not sure this is a good option if you're light sensitive. This place will give you a headache! As the matter of fact, I am no sure how anyone can visit hear and walk out without a headache. Another issue is that there is no particular direction for visitors to follow, so you might miss interesting rooms and leave without seeing everything, but then again, it is a light show, most of the stuff you can replicate on your own computer, only this is on a grander scale. Some interactive art was cool, overall satisfying experience but nothing super. Nothing to rave about!
Not worth it at all. Despite making a reservation, we had to wait an hour in the cold outside to go in. Once going in, several unattended children running around crashed into me, knocking me over. To go to the second floor, there was another hour wait. Additionally, the picture quality was poor, with some screens not working properly and switched off. Only go here if you like crowds and waiting around.
Was really excited for this but honestly it was wayyyyy below expectations. Just one big hyped up selfie warehouse. I really wanted to love it but seriously it feels like old fashioned technology, recommend the gallery at the mori tower instead
Cool place but it's a bit obvious. Not really recommended for art lovers, it's very touristy and made for people to take pictures and post them online. Early in the morning there's less people.
My initial thoughts were that the place felt small, but after finding exhibit after exhibit I quickly realised that this place could easily take up a few hours.
It was decently busy on a weekday afternoon, so I probably would advise against coming at any other busier times.
The exhibitions are fantastic and will leave you in awe, highly recommended.
Really cool experience, pretty pricey, and some huge waits for the main attractions, but we didn't really get why... would be nice if it really was borderless and free to roam, but actually is quite restrictive!
Was a very different experience. The kids loved the kids area, we almost missed it so it would be great if there was a map so you know you have covered everything. A must if you are visiting Japan.
The idea and the concept are amazing, problem is the staff is not enough to drive the people into the full exeperience, and this is a shame considering the affluence of tourist that they have on a daily basis.
Borderless is a fantastic interactive art experience. Although it is rather expensive to get in (3200 yen for an adult), I think the quality of the installation makes the experience almost worth the ticket price. Each area of the installation features a different theme with adjoining areas blending the themes together in a truly mystical way. The area itself is quite vast, with all but the small upstairs area being completely accessible by almost everyone. (I didnt see wheelchair access to this area so I am not sure if it is available). There are bathrooms and rest areas with vending machines on site. My only niggle was that there is part of the installation that people queue for a long time to see, I have physical difficulties myself and there wasnt really anywhere for people with such difficulties to sit in the queue. I ended up leaving before seeing the piece because I was in pain but my partner told me it wasnt worth the wait at all. I dont want to give too much away in case you want to see it, but if you decide not to - you arent missing much. Aside from this I would recommend for all ages, really fun and unique.
Prepare to get lost inside the super large expo site. Discover the rooms randomly as you go. Also be prepared to wait before entering the museum, but also to wait inside specific rooms in the museum. Up to 1 hour wait time for some rooms, and you stay inside for 2 minutes! In general, a great experience, but lot of waiting.
Very breathtaking! Loved the experience, many different light exhibits to view. Is very popular so get tickets in advance, and get in line early. However it is worth the wait in line, very unique experience!
I ve been here about about three times and it s an interesting experience. Depending on the day the lines can be really long for certain exhibits. I think maybe if it s close to opening or closing the lines are short but if you go in the middle like I did you can end up standing in quite a few lines.
The lights are cool though, I was surprised the latern light exhibit was just and you get roughly about 10minutes inside to take your pictures, it was the main exhibit I wanted to see so that surprised me.
Make sure to wear comfortable shoes!!! It s great because you can be in there for hours looking at different things but you can be there for hours so comfortable shoes would be best.
In addition, be careful ladies there is a room that had mirror floors. They have a cover-up you can put on under the skirt but I d suggest wearing pants or make sure you have some shorts on because the mirrors are very clean.
I like it because you can wander around and stumble on lots of cool rooms but I m tired of going after the third time now haha.
For what it s worth, it s quite clear they oversell tickets, in turn reducing the quality of the experience. Yes, I am aware that there are crowds in Japan, but that doesn t give them the excuse to overcrowd the place. Would have been happier to pay a bit more if it meant fewer people. Otherwise, it s a unique experience.
Really interesting museum, great for those who do not speak Japanese to enjoy as the displays are intuitive and fun. You can easily spend hours here but give yourself at least 1 hour for a full experience. Only concern is that as this is very popular, expect heavy crowds and packed rooms with long distances to exits. Those with claustrophobia or agoraphobia may want to avoid.
Quite pricey and quite crowded. But worth a visit. Lots of LED lights and interactive exhibits for adults and 4 kids. Be sure to have your child were you draw a picture of an animal and have it scanned and then projected onto the floor. It's fun chasing the drawing around
We went on a rainy day and it was well worth it! There was a long line to get in, but once in the display of colors, patterns, and music was great. We spent a good 3 hours there and don't believe we saw everything. It's a great place for everyone to enjoy. Not sure if it's busy like that all the time, but regardless, it's definitely a place to check out if you're in Tokyo.
This was such a cool multimedia experience. Alot of people had kids but the adults had just as much fun. Totally visually stimulating. Although i wish they had interactive exhibits for adults as well. Buy your ticket online ahead of time.
This was such an amazing experience. Its basically what I would imagine ending up in the spirit world would look like. There's a few queues but getting in only took about 30 minutes. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely go to the tea house. It's a further 500 yen but well worth it. This was something very special.
It was an immersive and interactive experience. There was even an exhibit where you could draw something and it would then appear on one of the surrounding walls!
It s an amazing treat for your eyes! Everything is breathtaking. Make sure you allocate a lot of time for this, at least 2 hours in order to enjoy all the different rooms they have inside
Everyone is walking around with their phone in front of them trying to take the best picture possible. Why? Because it looks only good on photos. Very boring for adults and people that don t want to impress anyone on instagram.
Nice experience but expect a veeeeery long waiting time to see some of the exhibitions inside the museum! To be honest I expected a bit more interactivity
Very very interesting place, however need more sitting areas, I saw many people are sitting on the floor and the staffs will ask them to stand up. It is quite understandable, it is really tiring to go thru the whole museum.
Awesome experience, but giant lines everywhere. You have to wait aroun 1 hour to visit best rooms. The one with latterns is limited by time, they will let you in after hour in line and will ask you to leave after 2 minutes. If you can't spend 4 hours inside, don't go. Try avoiding it on the weekend.
the staff inside the lab are very nice and friendly. had a great time there. theres a lot of lockers to keep your huge luggage so that you can participate in different shows hassle free!
This installation is huge. I would recommend at least 2 hours to explore. If you arrive in the late afternoon or evening you don't have to wait in line. It's designed to be interactive and selfie-friendly. However, it's way better than other selfie concepts like the Museum of Ice Cream. It's a must-go!
Kinda confused about how to rate this place. Wait was about 40 mins in the light rain. It s basically a light show. Good to spend a couple of hours at it. If you need a touristy place to visit, go and try it out.
OMG this museum is 100% worth the visit. It can take between 2-3 hours if you go with people. Longer if you have kids. I went on a short layover and it's even a coo train ride out of the center of Tokyo. There are some really cool sections you can get completely lost in and really stay a long time if you have the time to spare!
Over rated. Not even that interesting, just a bunch of lights on walls and some sound. To get into a room you need to like up for an hour. Serious waste of time
