Really amazing experience. Fairly long lines but worth the wait. Take shoes that are easy to remove! Costs about the same as most amusement park rides but is well worth it. Unlike anything I've ever experienced.

This is a bit out of the way but it's totally worth it if you're into interactive digital art. Therea a massive queue to get in even if you get there early. It's about a half hour wait to get in. You should get your tickets online.
Once you get in there are a couple of the main exhibits that you need to queue for. The main one featuring the hanging lights was amazing but we had to queue for half an hour. It was a bit hard to find too because there are no signs and it's very dark inside. The best I can describe is that it's on the right side when you go in. And it's near one of the toilets.
Because it's so dark it's also not easy to find your way out. Took us a while before we worked it out. However it is also true that the space really encouraged you to explore all the exhibits which were all amazing. It's unbelievable how emerauve some of them were.
If you have young kids then it's definitely asking how to get to the kids area. It was located right by the exit which meant it was the last thing we saw. The area is massive with lots of kids activities. You could easily spend the all of your time there if you have young kids.
There's actually a cafe inside as well but again you may or may not stuble upon it.
Really great experience. Queues for some of the rooms are a bit long and the time that is allowed in those rooms are time boxed so don't expect to be able to stay in some of the rooms for a long time - but overall really nice and impressive. Careful if you purchase your tickets online - teamLab BORDERLESS and teamLab PLANET are two different exhibitions in two different places (about 20mn by train from one another)
The lines are too long, come on a weekday. Weekends is total madness. Try and walk around inside as they don t have a map of all the rooms. It will a lot of fun if you see all the rooms.
This place lives up to the hype! It was such a beautiful display of lights in every room, even the hallways were stunning. Our favorite was the room with the hanging lights reflection. The lines got pretty crazy around lunchtime so you absolutely must go first-thing at opening time, and try to get out of there fast. We didn't have lines except on the last exhibit, which was around 11am. Thanks so much for putting such care into the exhibits.
Truly magical experience that anyone can enjoy. Don t hesitate and book your tickets now as they may sell out!
There s no map which is intentional so you take your time to wander around and explore in the maze of rooms. As we were trying to leave and find the exit, we ended up finding a couple more exhibits in the process. Overall, we spent around 3 hours, but we skipped one exhibit, which had a 90 minute wait. My favorite exhibits were the forest of lamps and the crystal palace.
Cool place to go! Be aware that you gonna make queues... a lot.... 1 hour before entering the building and inside the expo.... there is more queue for expo rooms... inside its build like a labyrinth. Thats cool for the experience but dont be on a rush or you will get frustrated... there is not like an order to see things... you just wandered around. In the end its only projection on the wall... but its cool!
Save at least two hours for the place. Rare case when modern art is really a breathtaking ART with visuals, sound and stage fused together without borders.
This is a light and sound and sometimes interactive experience. There are numerous rooms to explore and each one is surprising in their difference from the others. Good for kids and adults. Hours of fun.
Great experience for all ages.. Book online way before and be there way before the gates open. Be prepared for a minimum of three hours... and note that there is no restaurant inside and eating within the premises is prohibited.. Constant motion could have some temporary effects..
-The- Borderless experience. So your mileage may vary but I was absolutely astonished and blown away by how absolutely fantastic this place was.
No words would really truly capture the sense of childish astonishment which I had not felt in a long time. And one of the only times an entertainment venue really got me excited as an adult. Most of the time it required adrenaline but this was just pure wonder and bliss.
Visuals and audio and a navigation experience which rewards those looking to enjoy their day here for as long as possible I would hope.
Lots of nooks and crannies for you to wander around and I simply truly cannot put across in words the level of wonder and magic the place offers.
I went after lunch, so there were a lot of people waiting in line to get it. But the line moves pretty fast. Only took 20-25 minutes to get in. I would recommend to lock all your coats and bags into the locker. The place is crowded and lots of body heat everywhere. My hands were free, so I was able to go around at ease and enjoy the place. It was beautiful. A lot of interactions involved. Think I was lost at one point. I missed a good portion of rooms. =( Over all, it was fun and worth to visit. So many instagram shots you can make at that place.
You can experience everything inside in a matter of 3-4 hours. Some of the attractions are better then others obviously. The constant changing meant that nothing was the exact same later on. And god forbid you have to use the infirmary, they are very quick to help you out and are very knowledgeable.
Nice place. Abit far out in tokyo. And alot of queueing. Especially for 2 rooms, it takes an estimated time of 50 mins of waiting for that 2 rooms each!
The closest you could be to having those moments that remind you of your childhood . My favorite part was coloring my own squid and seeing it come to life. The infinity room was pretty amazing too. I'd recommend coming early as to not be there when it's crowded because it definitely gets crowded quick.
It was beautiful, lots of great effects. It feels like you are part of a pocket universe. A bit crowded, i recommend the other one in Toyosu too. A completely different experience
If I tried to convey my feelings in brief it would be OMG! This centre is full of different video installations which fans of modern art and technology will enjoy, and you can wander there like in a maze. At the same time, I feel that some kind of a map would be helpful. It's nice that you can explore the area as you wish but when you want to get somewhere specific, it's hard or sometimes impossible. I would recommend avoiding weekends and holidays because it gets crowded, on Saturday afternoon all tickets were sold out and one room had a queue with more than half an hour waiting. At least 2 hours would be necessary to enjoy everything the centre has to offer. Most rooms are pretty dark and some rooms are stuffy so be careful.
Well worth a visit whilst in Tokyo - book in advance to avoid the queue and check out the website to find the best time to go. Even once in, its pretty busy with everyone taking insta shots so worth researching the best (and quietest) time to go. Note that there are a few exhibits within that you have to queue for, beyond the inital entry queue.
Popular light museum located in odaiba. Tons of pictures online to see but it's ddifferent in person. They make use of mirrors and darkness to create an illusion where the animations cross normal boundaries hence the name Borderless. They also incorporate electronic ambient style music so it's quite immersive. Costs around 3000 yen (a little pricey) and would recommend getting tickets online prior. Would also recommend coming in early and expect to stay for a while especially when it's busy. Could easily spend 3 hours or more in here. there are some exhibitions with lineups to go in to limit the amount of people. It's also quite dark inside with lots of people and kids walking around. Go during the weekdays if you can as museums in the weekend can get quite hectic in Japan.
An absolute must see if you are visiting Tokyo Spectacular and unexpected light installations Interactive and physical activities for kids and adults Very entertaining
Simply amazing, the whole experience is something you need to go and see. The amount of work that has gone into making this exhibition happen must be phenomenon.
Ohhhh, just missed by a few days!! It was actually open but for invited guests only. Darn it. It would be and should be beautiful. Anticipated4 star rating but I think I would rate it a 5 !
I absolutely loved this exhibition, if one can call it so. With my friend, we spent 3h30 walking around the numerous installations which change constantly and cannot possibly bore you (we only left because it was dinner time and we were More
You have all seen the Instagram photos. Before going here I honestly believed that this place would be something over hyped. But, I was wrong. Team borderless have achieved something truly amazing here. I don't think any photos do this place any justice.
I would also recommend doing the matcha tea in the cafe.
Tips: - Buy your tickets online before arriving in Japan (you can change the visit date for free up to 2 days before your date, we tried to coordinate it with a rainier day). Saves you so much time and they often sell out.
- Come BEFORE opening (we came at around 9:30am - they open at 10am and were already letting people in)
- Visit the lamp room first if you want good pictures (Theres no maps but if you have a picture of the exhibit the staff are usually pretty friendly about directing you)
- The location was a bit difficult for us to find but look for the giant ferris wheel, it's on the second floor by the Wendy's
- Eat before coming here, there's no food really except the Wendys near the entrance but they dont allow reentry. They do have a rest area and a vending machine for drinks.
Luggage/Bag Storage: They have free lockers of all sizes (100 yen deposit that gets returned to you) and some bike locks for big suitcases
Skip: - The Nest (you basically lay in a web made of ropes and they project visuals and music to make it seem like you're moving) - the concave exhibit had a similar experience with no line
Overall, this was a pretty cool and unique experience. A little bit pricey and sort of a touristy-IG bucket list kind of place but in my opinion still worth a trip out if you have time! We spent a few good hours here and left around 1pm for lunch.
Very cool art museum -- many different rooms with different light experiences. A bit of a maze to see it all, and very crowded. But really nice place to see!
I ll start by saying WOW. Just WOW. We went on a Tuesday and arrived at 10:30am. They open at 10. Waited in line for no more than 12 minutes. Spent about 2 hours here. What a memorable experience. Nothing like art , esp digital art, that s a whole different kind of experience. Highly recommended. 10 stars!!!!
Visited in Sep 2019. Absolutely amazing light exhibition! No boundaries and great opportunities! Mingled with Japanese style/ culture. A must go to place if you visit Tokyo next time!!
Overall a great experience, only deducted one star because of the crowd. Went on a Thursday off time and there were still a ton of people. Had to spend a lot more time there taking pictures waiting for an opportune moment with less people to snap the shot.
The most important exhibit to me was the lanterns as the other ones are not as special or overlapped with Planets, which I saw on the same day with almost no one else inside.
On the second floor, you can draw stuff and it will come to life! It s hilarious.. great date place.
Awesome experience. Close to perfection. Book your tickets online but even so, be aware that you might queue for an hour, partly under the sun. Once inside, some attractions will have their own pretty long queues but overall, it remains bearable.
Awesome and unique experience. Whole place is awesome but there are couple of attractions which makes you to just stay there forever. Lights room, and there was one place with soothing music that makes you sit there and enjoy. Must visit place as it will definitely give you the unique experience.
I spent 5hrs here and still didn't get to see everything this place has to offer. It wasn't necessarily bc of the lines, because yes, there are a couple inside the museum, but because there is SO MUCH CONTENT. And it's always changing. Make sure you budget to also go in the Tea Room. I didn't know they had one until I walked in and i didn't bring enough money for it. Also, look out for places where you can bring your drawings to life. It's totay worth it, so keep your eyes peeled. Take your kids, a date, a friend, a family member, an enemy, or anime protagonist. Just know that everyone im your party will have a blast. Some things that you might want to be aware of is the "borderless" quality of the museum. It's easy to get lost. You wont be able to easily find the place where you came in from which might be concerning for some. However, emergency exits are clearly marked and staff speak English so you can ask them to show you the way out. It's simple once they show you. It's also difficult for maybe some people with certain handicaps. I would definitely ask the museum about handicap accesibility in advance.
Visited at 2PM on a Thursday, the queue was down the stairs, along the carpark, and all the way around the corner and down the road. Despite seeming crazily long, we only had to wait about 20 minutes outside - once inside, there were 2 more sections of queue for another 15 minutes, for a total of 35 minutes. Booked via the official Japanese website as KLOOK was showing no more availability on the day we wanted to go, but the official site let us book just fine. There are free lockers inside, for a refundable coin deposit. Queued for 40 minutes for Forest of Lamps, and we were allowed to spend 2.5 minutes inside. Queued for 25 minutes for Floating Nest, and we were allowed to spend 3.5 minutes inside. Make sure you visit the Athletic Forest, it's heaps of fun! Very impressed with the animations of the scans of your drawings. Be sure to read the description for each animal, as they all have different rules for interacting with each other. When you think you're done at Borderless, have a look at a website listing all the rooms to make sure you haven't missed anything. Including queuing, we spent about 6 hours here in total.
Amazing experience! Best of the two Borderless museums as you can take the time you need to navigate through the exposition <3 The interactiveness of designs are spotless, a lot of surprises and a LOT of content, that makes you fall back in childhood and leaves you at the end with a huge smile stuck on your face :D Possibility to buy your ticket online as e-teacket, that gives you a QRcode to scan and saves you time as you go straight to first entry line, and also facilitate payment for travelers. Thank you!
Brilliant day spent here, we arrived 20mins before it opened and didn't have to queue for any of the extra rooms, when we left the queues were huge into the lamps room and nest! Great fun, would recommend!
Borderless is a free-formed maze of rooms connected by hallways and almost every wall is a projection art piece in some way or other. It was so much fun, despite the crowds of people and long queues to go inside certain rooms. Strongly suggest you book tickets online ahead of time. There was still a wait outside nonetheless. Even more suggest you go first thing in the morning, because there are fewer other people inside, by 12pm the whole place starts to fill up and it gets much more crowded and you can really feel it. Once you make it through the front door you are given instructions on a screen before you can enter the space. Please please follow them because it makes it a much more pleasant experience for others since it s already going to be so crowded and stuffy inside. While inside, a lot of the rooms have signs by the entrance giving instructions on how best to interact with the projections inside. Definitely take the time to give them a read; there were a few rooms that required attendees to move around to interact with the motion sensors inside but most people were just stupidly standing around the edges waiting for something to happen.
Too expensive for few """"interactive"""" lights on walls ...
If you have kids => They will like it If you have a girlfriend => She will probably like it.
If you don't fall into one of these two categories just save your money. I really don't know why people find this so exciting. I actually found it quiet boring. Some rooms were "fun" & interesting but that's it. For 3200 Yen, I was expecting clearly more impressive stuff ...
An interesting place of lights effects. Book your tickets online and come when they open at 10am because it does get a little crowded even on weekdays. They require that you put your belongings in the lockers provided (100yen rental). One can spend 2 to 3 hours here.
Lightful fortress that is absolutely a must see place. Kids and their parents can really enjoy the entire day here with many practical games in Athletic room.
Incredible and intriguing art. This place will provide you with more instagram-able pictures than you will ever need. A thorough visit will take 2-3 hours to see and experience everything so plan accordingly.
Tickets are around 3300 yen/ person and are sold out way in advance. Also, I found it best to visit around 4pm on weekdays, that's when it's least crowded.
Buy your tickets ahead of this technologically sound exhibit. Equipped with LED installations, projection flower elephants, and of course ghostly Samurai. TeamLab Bordeless will Keep you engage the entire time. Darkened hallways are to be aware, however the friendly museum guides are here to assist. A lab for the sense, if in Tokyo you must stop by. Please take a trip on the train and check it out.
Great museum to visit on a rainy day. We spent here around 4 hours, but i would have liked to stay a little longer. Digital art is very fascinating and it changes from time to time. Be aware, that to enter in some of the rooms, you might wait 30-60 minutes in line.
Very cool exhibition! I think that it is impossible to resist the urge of taking pictures all the time which unfortunately takes you out of the experience. You constantly see people taking pictures, and yourself always thinks how to capture this with your camera. I think it would be more meaningful if pictures were not allowed.
Also, we went to the teamlab plants exhibition and we think it was much better.
So many people hear with crazy long row but the staff can manage well, I waited around 1hr because it's holiday. Everything in there was really amazing, you will enjoy to discover each room. Should eat something before entering because you will take time so long for me is 3hr.
Absolute must see. The installations are mind blowing! Book tickets online. Highly recommended!!! Good restaurants nearby and close to the Gundam statue of you are interested in seeing that.
We stayed for at least 4h, had to wait in two lines The lantern room in particular had a very long wait time. Possibly overcrowded, tho the rest of the museum didn't seem extremely full.
The tea was not exactly my taste, but it was still fun to play around with the projection.
The Athletic Room, with its colourful animal projections, was surprisingly fun (see pictures ;)
Amazing. The only shortcoming I think is way too many people inside, if they are willing to do some crown control,I ll even accept more expensive entrance fee.
It's not a museum! Not really modern art, it's just a nice place to make pretty photos to Instagram. Modern art must be questioning and the only question is " what's is the most important : ego or life?". If you like art don't spend 30 to go there!
A fantastic place to visit, I would highly recommend this place for those looking for things to do while in Tokyo. A little far out as you have to take JR's Odaiba rail, so the tourist metro cards won't work on route.
Tips: Go for opening time!! Make sure to check the opening time on the website as it changes during seasons. Get to the entrance 30 minutes prior to the actual opening of the museum(?) as it gets extremely busy even if you have pre-booked your ticket, which again is a must!
Due to it being so busy, I would highly advise you to plan what sections you want to visit (especially if you want photos of yourself alone within the area) for me, the three places would be the lantern lights (the most busy), the "hill", and also the long hanging crystals. Those three make for the most beautiful photos, especially alone with no one else in your photo!
I would certainly run quickly to the Lantern lights as this is the one that gets busiest and has a queue.
It's quite hard to find as the whole museum is dark, though the lanterns was the hardest, you have to find a set of stairs that go up to the area. Most people will head straight into the "hill" area as that's the first section, I would recommend passing this and looking for the set of stairs.
If you're quick enough, you can literally have the whole area yourself. They only allow you to have 1 minute inside, then shoo you out, though you can re-enter the area again by looping around.
Overall the whole museum is beautiful and there's so much more than the three sections o mentioned. You can easily spend between 2-3 hours in here, so plan your time accordingly.
It is very underwhelming and overpriced. Maybe it s cool 3-4 years ago when advanced projection technology was not so common, but at this point you can easily see similar kind of projection in shopping malls, concert, etc It s not up to the standard of exhibition , it could be an attraction like a 4D cinema maybe?
Pretty cool light effects and projecting set up. The interactive parts didn't seem to work too well. Remember that some rooms have mirrors as floors so if you are wearing a skirt or a dress be aware. We went during a weekday afternoon but it was still very crowded with long lines for the popular exhibits. If you want to see everything, budget at least 3 hours. Overall still pretty impressive!
It's very cool walking and watching the changing effects. The "cave" is the best in my opinion. You have to do some attractions more than once, because they are changing. I loved it, although it's very crowded. And like at an amusement park, you have to stay in line for a few attractions (minus one star). There are more instagirls and self-peomoters than you can imagine. Its kind of difficult enjoying sometimes, because they are pretty rude getting the best shot of themselves with the artworks... Weird. The art of selfieing. But you can't blame teamlab for that. People tend to go, where they get good pics of themselves. If they weren't allowed to do so, only a few would visit such artmuseums, I guess.
