Dilapidated and smelly, you can smell the fish from the restaurant for miles. A poor cousin to the Tate Modern but essential for seeing british artists work.

The Tate the ultimate chill out place in the Memebership room and Van Gogh was brilliant
I am yet to visit the muesem but I wanted to thank Bethany at ticketing for helping me get the best deal for booking my tickets to the van gogh exhibition.
Good exhibition of Aubrey Beardsley's work. Very large collection and excellent written commentary.
Fantastic lights display inside, as well massive incredible old painting inside! Outside the building is just as impressive.
A wonderful gallery that holds my favourite painting, Stanley Spencer's St Francis Feeding the Birds. You can also see the best collections of Turner, William Blake and Pre-Raphaelites on display anywhere in the world. I find the charges for the special exhibitions a bit pricey, compared to their equivalents in mainland Europe, but that's a minor gripe.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the building itself is exquisite. If you really enjoy great art, allow half a day minimum for your visit.
Spacious and accessible galleries, well curated, and not quite as overrun with tourists as Tate Modern is.
Very good home collection and regular high-quality exhibits. The cafe also offers a nice place to sit and read - assuming you can find a seat.
Great musuem with many exibits in an interesting area.
A pinacoteca magnifica.Predominando landscapers English of the XlX. Free admission, data to consider in London
interesting and varied
some works perhaps do not enjoy optimal exposure.
I feel bad giving this only one star as what little we saw of the Don Mc Cullin exhibition was excellent but the entire experience was utterly horrible. My husband, who recently has suffered a brain injury and ptsd as a result of injury has adores McCullin for many years but his excitement at his new exhibition was overwhelmed with concern at the thought of how busy and packed this would be. He was reassured and his mind put at ease when we noted that tickets were available in small amounts (allegedly) for specific time slots. I booked us for yesterday session and what an awful and unpleasant experience it was for us all. Clearly the number of people jammed in there would have been in breach of health and safety and there were far too many people crammed into tiny rooms to looks at McCullins stunning but tiny photographs. The net result of this was a visit cut short owing to a panicked husband as a result of the overwhelming crowds, and what small amount of the exhibition was observed was seem over lines of people 6-8 people deep - it's lucky we are tall. Very unenjoyable and horrible set up. Sit at home and Google McCullins work - you will have a far better experience than the absolute joke observed in the Tate!
Do not go if it's to see the pre-raphaelites, they are on the other side of the Atlantic! I moved only to see them, shame! I will fall back on the leighton house!
Great art gallery much more interesting than it's over celebrated big brother Tate Modern - go here instead
Fantastic array of art, Looking forward to visiting again
Free entry and great art. What more can you ask for?
A peaceful eden in the heart of Westminster. Free entrance to most galleries. Temporary exhibitions are often well curated. Also offers an art shop and tea rooms to enjoy coffee, tea and cakes
Sometimes when in a mega city like London, it's a good thing to remind yourself that man can create great beauty. For this reason alone, you have to visit Tate Britain and see the display of the permanent collection. The exhibitions are good with a lot of information in the labels. Try to get a curator event as these folks are so enthusiastic about their subjects and pass that passion in their explanations. So don't forget the building which is on the site of the Millbank prison and the fortunes of Mr Tate were made in the sugar plantations.... quite a lot to think about before even getting to the art. The restaurant is good and the refurbed atrium with a terrazzo staircase (the balustrade is so tactile) a new facet to see.
A lot of tourists missout on that museum but it really is a must, in particular if combined with a boat trip
Great place for a rainy Friday after work (in late Tate nights)
Ceryth Wynne Evans, light installation; Henry Moore exhibition and British Art from 1849. Excellent morning. Lunch a bit slow.
Fantastic gallery and the members room is much nicer and more relaxed than the one at Tate modern. Very enjoyable afternoon at the Van gogh exhibition.
One of my favourite museums in London, classic, small and at the same time important!
Enjoyed a day here. Got a membership card so we can come as often. Very beautiful atmosphere. My favourite piece of art on picture.
One if my favourite galleries. Love the Henry Moore sculptures and the Pre Raphelites
Wonderful space with the widest range of British paintings.
The gallery is suitable for art lovers without age limitation. There are a lot of precious collections for everybody to enjoy. The cafes are lovely serves delicious tea and cakes. People there are very friendly. The gift shop has got many items related to the art collections in the museum. I like the books in the shop especially. They are all very useful. I recommend everybody to visit Tate Britain. The paintings are so beautiful.
Big and rich Museum of Art. We recommend a visit of 2 to 4 hours.
One of my favourite galleries in the country. Went to see the wonderful Edward Burne-Jones exhibition. A real treat!
Van Gogh exhibition was so amazing. Definitely worth to visit!
Splendid collection of British artists, as well as a magnificent one by Turner.
It is not very visited by the tourist and it is a pity.
Where classic meets modern. A wonderful way to spend the day, just browsing through the fantastic art on display.
If you want to see art that's one great place to go.
Went to see Queer British Art. The exhibition was great and very moving at times. There should have been given more attention to reviewing the text that accompanies some of the work, as there was some clear missediting which made understanding it quite difficult. Overall an excellent exhibition.
So beautiful
I hope you can vacation here Amen

The new David Hockney is in a word amazing. I was there on opening day last week and spent 5 hours going round the largest ever Hockney collection under one roof. A must.
An amazing place ! I loved the Turner exhibition !
Fantastic gallery. I love visiting and everything apart from special exhibition is free.
For whome who loves Arts with passion and wants to SPEND a great time in an antique place
Not too big, not too small, perfect for an afternoon browse through the museum.
The main collection is focused around 1540 - 1890 with not much religious themed art . Clearly divided between centuries.
Next some impressive pieces in their 1930 - now collection.
Definitely worth a visit!
This is totally different to the Tate Britain, so don't come expecting that. A beautiful gallery with great little cafe too.
Wonderful building. Fine collection of art loved the Van Gogh exhibition.
A spacious, peaceful place. Filled with wonderful things.
Great museum. Very large collection. Well presented. The lighting of the artworks is great due to indirect light from ceiling windows. I especially liked the way the British art was organised chronologically. If you are a fan of Turner, this place is a must.
I always enjoy visiting the Tate Gallery. You can spend the many enjoyable hours there. Well worth a visit.
Very nice collection. Little bit of old fashion. But the young powerfully violent will be there for art
Really enjoyed the Tate late. Free music and workshops. Its a great place to spend a Friday evening
Great gallery saw the Don Mc Cullen exibition. Great and challenging photos.
An excellent range of art, good for friends, family and personal study.
Visited for the van gogh exhibition & did not disappoint! all the staff there were lovely too
Beautiful! I really loved this museum.
Enjoy art ;)
Hogas's works have beautiful lines and many good ones.
The pictures of yer3 students at the London school on the wall were impressive.
Wonderful wide open spaces, easy to find an access. Shams thw staff all seem so miserable.
Well-kept museum, only Turner's permanent is worth the visit, of course there are all the British artists up to the 60s.
The permanent is free, you pay the access to the temporary exhibitions. When I visited the museum there was an exhibition dedicated to the impressed French exiles in London during the Prussian war
