Sometimes when in a mega city like London, it's a good thing to remind yourself that man can create great beauty. For this reason alone, you have to visit Tate Britain and see the display of the permanent collection. The exhibitions are good with a lot of information in the labels. Try to get a curator event as these folks are so enthusiastic about their subjects and pass that passion in their explanations. So don't forget the building which is on the site of the Millbank prison and the fortunes of Mr Tate were made in the sugar plantations.... quite a lot to think about before even getting to the art. The restaurant is good and the refurbed atrium with a terrazzo staircase (the balustrade is so tactile) a new facet to see.
