This museum is a sanctuary for the art lovers. I find it less busy that the National Galleries. The architecture is beautiful. There is always a nice exhibition happening. Also ask help on what to do to use an instagram filter to bring some of the paintings to life.

Interesting site for art lovers. Easy access by C10 bus service ( stop: Tate Britain). Be ready for long walk along the galleries (about 2-3 hours). You can have a rest in a reastaurant on ground floor. After one hour of exploration you can feel the tirednes bec there is veeery poor ventilation in the building.

Came here with my Mum to see the recent Lowry exhibition; we didn't have a great amount of time but kept getting pulled around the museum by the force of the art: "Look at this one! At this one!" Exhibitions are well curated; and this place has some great pieces in it's long term galleries. Will definitely be back at some point in the future.

Tate Britain is part of a network of Tate museums along with Modern (London), Liverpool and St Ives.
Born in 1897 by will of Sir Henry Tate is the oldest of the locations, and over time it has been identified with different names, National Gallery of British Art, Tate Gallery and since 2000 Tate Britain following the inauguration of the Tate Modern which hosts from then the works of modern art.
Tate Britain currently offers mainly English works of art from 1500 to today with a large contribution of paintings by J. M. W. Turner, temporary exhibitions, installations and interesting lessons / discussions curated by experts on specific selected works lasting half an hour.
Admission to permanent exhibitions is free, while temporary exhibitions are usually paid.

Really great gallery. I loved the layout and the grouping via themes rather than eras and movements.

Personally I prefer it to the National Gallery, which is much bigger and takes longer to get around.

Liked to visit. There are a fairly amount of stuff that you can see without having to pay for it. But if you do decide to pay that extra bit, you get the guided tour and you get to see pretty amazing collections. Accessible. Very clean. Nice staff, very helpful. Has a view straight into the Thames as you come out the front door, so it's lovely.

The original tate building is lovely to see in itself and has a good location along the river. Pimlico tube station is 5 minutes away or there's the scenic route from Westminster station where you can take in Big Ben, the houses of parliament and Victoria Gardens, along with walking along embankment.

I've found the special exhibitions put on here are often excellent. The All Too Human exhibition they currently have on (until August 2018) is well considered, laid out and broad in terms of artists and artwork included, which also has more modern artists work. The shop is well stocked with a good range, some of which is quite expensive for what it is but other stuff is reasonably priced. There are plenty of spaces to sit within the museum and rest whilst admiring the artwork.

A wonderful art museum displaying works of art of a few collections and a diverse range of artists. It spans two floors and there's a cafe on the ground floor. It is comfortably well lit inside by a combination of ceiling and natural skylight from the wonderfully high ceilings.

Excellent, great art gallery. Highlights include, Turner gallery, lady of Shallot and Ophelia. The building itself is pretty cool, see photo. And the cream teas are nice too. Would recommend as a place to visit in London.

A few years back, just before the very first visit to Tate in its Britain flavor, I was wondering what's to see and do in there for the over six hours available on that occasion.
A few days ago, during the 7th or 8th visit there I had a pretty clear idea what I was going to focus on for the 9th. And counting.
Free access. Small donation always welcome, appreciated, and very much deserved.

With all the amazing museums to visit in London, this one is probably worth giving a miss. I didn't find the exhibitions engaging, and it's nothing compared to the National Gallery or Tate Modern. #Oktoberwurst

Great gallery. Had a couple of hours free and popped in. Didn't do any of the paid exhibits but did the journey through time.

Really interesting and nicely laid out with dates on the floor to help orientate you. Following a chronological line really helps you appreciate how taste in art changed.

As always in a gallery you can appreciate the skill of the brush strokes of a painting far more than just looking at a photo of a painting.

Most rooms have seats so you can sit and appreciate the artworks. Lots of staff to answer questions and you can attend guided discussions about key works.

Well worth a visit and I will go back and do more.
