Amazing art space in a beautiful building. Smaller than it's younger sibling the Tate Modern, there's always interesting free or paid for exhibitions on display, plus the epic Epstein sculpture of Jacob and the Angel inside the permanent collection.
Great exhibition of Don McCullin's photos. Signage not brilliant in main areas
Excellent gallery, always worth a visit, whether it be a small one to sit out the rain (as it's free entry) or a longer one to see the whole gallery.
The Van Gogh exhibition was absolutely amazing! To see his paintings, inspiring.
To learn of his stay in London and of the artists, and see their paintings, that inspired him was out of this world!
Other exhibits were clearly displayed in spacious gallery with ample lighting.
There was an easel with paper and pencils in one of the rooms for you to try your own hand at sketching sculptures.
Many beautiful paintings and sculptures for budding artists and those who love art.
The Van Gogh exhibition is a must see while it's here.
Saw the Hockney exhibition. Well worth seeing although the timed slots didn't make it quiet enough to really enjoy the work.
Disappointing visit, some of the art work should be in Tate modern.
Great collection of British art, personal favourites include Henry Moore, Jeremy Deller, Peter Blake and many others in a fabulous setting...one of London's treasures
Great big art gallery with a huge stock and regular interesting additional exhibits.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Queer British Art exhibition
When I go to the time when the guide explains
It was good to hear a secret story about the picture.
A must visit for the whole family 0-100. Just a great gallery with interesting works of art. Great members restaurant
I love this place. Good combination of old, modern art and sculptures
Continuing to be spectacularly better than the modern equivalent. Free entrance is a great boon. Excellent way to spend an hour and more. Useful ferry from modern drops you outside.
Just WOW: J.M.W. Turner, Constable, Pre-Raphaelites, and more. What else one can wish for?
Great exhibit (Van Gogh in Britain). Well put together, excellent pieces. Recommended
Mind blowing, the special exhibitions are fab and the permanent collection is well worth seeing
Don't forget to connect to the free wifi and download the guide app.
The original gallery before Tate Modern. Still well worth a visit displaying some of the best of British art
One year of Picasso's life, 1932, shows us how much one can express through sculpture and brush in just a year. Impressive, even shocking at times. I am amazed at how some of us see the world and, in this particular case, women around us. Must see.
Lovely place to be, helpful staff, excellent exhibitions.
Magnificent permanent collection, magisterial temporary exhibitions such as that of Don McCullin since February 2019.
Magnificent exhibitions. Turner exhibition is wonderful.
Always a good place to relax and wander amongst varied art
On the site of the Tate Britain used to be a cholera infested prison. This museum is a wonderful progress from that.
One of the must-see museums in London. It exhibits works recognized worldwide and is committed to inclusive, pioneering and multidisciplinary programming. The building is one more piece of art.
Saw a very interesting Van Gogh exhibition. The "Britain" title was misleading/irrelevant.
Maybe the best Tate in London, maybe the best art gallery in all of London too.
So well organised and a pleasure to have the time and space to enjoy each room of the collection tour. Very clean and a thoroughly enjoyable experience after all these weeks of lockdown and restrictions
I love this gallery. Always provides something new. Great place to spend some time.
This place is decent and not as crowded as tate modern. If you love art, this is must-visit place in London.
Beautiful place to visit. The building itself is such a sight. Well worth many many trips here.
One of the most important place for seeing the world's best paintings
It's absolutely free too
Would go here again and again. Not too much, not overwhelming, but well chosen, lovely .
Great space. Narrowly focussed but you'll find something for you. Was under renovation when we were there and jackhammers did not add positively to the vibe.
Fantastic Hockney exhibition. It's a bit pricey but the normal galleries are free.
Awesome place with nice selection of art. Plus the main exhibition is free of charge, so you should definitely see it!
Wonderful Burne-Jones exhibition but shuts 24th Feb. Van Gogh and Britain coming soon and the permanent galleries are great too
Amazing. The building is incredible and the collections are stunning.
The David Hockney exhibition was excellent. Always lots to see there.
Go along and see Hamilton. It's great.
Try the Victoria market hall (just across the road) before the show.
Watch out for very long toilet queues at intermission!
So many Turners. Great free tours led by enthusiastic volunteers.
Many beautiful paintings.
Great beautiful museum with beautiful art. The explanation is excellent.
After the death of Turner, many paintings that were actually not finished were given to the state to end up in this museum.
A good summary of what happened from 1830 in the art history of Britain
Incredible exhibition. Ends 14 February 2019. Must-see!!!
Well staged exhibitions. Permanent display is excellent. Add to that a very nice cafe and you have the perfect day out.
Visited to see Don McCullin exhibition but wandered around admiring the art too....well worth it. Located in central London...easy to get to. Good facilities cafe and restaurant. Not too crowded.
It's one of those art galleries everyone should visit.
This is one of the most classical picture gallery in London. The main place to see Turner, Gainsborough and other British classicists. Also has some part of modern pieces. Often there is a special events happening. Plus there is nice neighborhood and Chelsea college of arts close by. To summarise Tate Britain is one of the London's must see.
It's a peaceful and silent aura that carries you around these pieces. The space is larger than life, so you can feel all kinds of ways inside here. It's definitely one to spend a good 5 hours at, because there is a lot to take in at once. Maybe multiple visits is a thing and best of all it's FREE.
A truly fabulous place, fascinating even for those who approach art without knowing much.
Nice museum to spend an hour or two. Famous for Turner collection. For first timers, taking a free tour is recommended. Took the free tour for the weekend. It was interesting to hear the stories and history about the museum. Worth a visit.
A fine collection of British painting. The magnificent collection of Turner
Fantastic is an understatement. Here you find all the greatest English painters ...
The van Gogh and Britain exhibition is something of a confidence trick. To claim that the one-eared wonder's work was influenced by his short stay in London may be impossible to disprove but I detect nothing in his works to prove it. The motley crew of forgotten Brit plagiarists are all here, and a few van Gogh works but virtually none of the most famous. If you have money to spend, off you go to Amsterdam to see the proper stuff!
'Aftermath' the exhibition was great! The food is very expensive and I bought my ticket online which does not show that I can have 50% discount with the art pass which I have. I think it should be clear on the website as now I lost out on the discount I am eligible to receive.
Highlight of the week. Such a wonderful experience. Having been to the Amsterdam Van Gogh museum many years ago. It was great to see Van Gogh's paintings again.
Shame it was so crowded.
Beautiful building with a vast collection of arts on display
Great free-to-view collection of British art from 1500s to modern plus dedicated Turner collection and paid exhibitions.
Beautiful gallery space and works from mainly British artists. Great place to spend an afternoon.
It is the perfect place to see British works of art worth visiting.
Very cozy
