Tampa Improv Festival Review

The entertainment is great! Food and beverages are available at a huge cost, and the servers are nice.

Exceptional service! Cozy, clean and comfortable. If you've never been, you must! So much fun

I have been to the Improv a few times and each time the service and staff were not good. The show started 45 minutes late- which probably had little to do with Improv. However, the food took forever- yes you can tell me that you put my order in immediately and that the kitchen is swamped, but when people that were seated 20-30 minutes after us got their food before us (all we ordered was nachos @ $15ish for a tiny plate). My husband asked specifically for another drink for himself, pointed to his drink only, the waiter brought another round- a beverage that I didn't want to drink or pay for. More than once we and our friends have ordered food, never received it and were still charged for it. To top all the waiting and poor service off, a bouncer was very rude. I was suffering through a migraine when I got up to use the restroom. He gruffly informed me that I was trapped and couldn't leave when I was heading where I thought the restrooms were. I asked where the bathroom was (avoiding the painful neon sign that said restroom...). His reply: "Right in front of your face." Totally unnecessary. Completely rude. All of that combined left it difficult to enjoy the comedian. P.S. I tried to take the gratuity off my bill and was charged anyway. P.P.S. They're also amazing at math. Our table was supposed to split the check. Our friends were charged $3. My husband and I $55.... We would have been stuck there for 30 more minutes if we tried to fix it.

I love the Improv! Everytime we go there we have an awesome and laugh all night long. The food, drinks and service are consistently good and the employees always take care of us. The comedians never fail to make our stomachs hurt from laughing so much. The comedians also make themselves available to meet the audience after the show. I can't wait to go back!

The choice of comedians, the food, and the wait staff is very polite and attentive.
My issue is, they say you are buying a table but if your group do not arrive together you will not sit together still because of their first come first serve policy. Although I love that policy.

I love coming to this place. Obviously some visits will be better than others depending on who is performing. Tonight was a great show with Tony Gaud and Dean Edwards. The food is always good as is the wait staff. It's worth coming in to check out if haven't yet.

Everyone is very friendly! Service was great. Food seemed a little overpriced so budget accordingly. But worth going!

The wait was very long to be seat. When we were seated it was at the very top and i couldnt sit down the entire show because i am short and if i would have sat down i wouldnt have been able to see the show. Not happy at all with my recent experience.

Love the place. Be careful when you order drinks, they are watered down...

Great time! The comedian Tony Robert's was hilarious! The only bad thing was the food! The chicken was terribly overcooked!

Didn't care for the hacklers and how the staff handled the situation.

The guy at the door was rude, but other than that, it's the best comedy club in the area. All aspects. It's pretty clean, the have food and drinks, not super cheap but not crazy, service was okay, but it's a cool club. Parking in this area sucks sometimes and can be expensive. I'd ride share if possible.

The comedy was great, and the food was really impressive! There were 6 of us, and we all enjoyed our meals. The salmon dinner was a large portioned, delicious plate! I would definitely visit again!

Loved the show. Sheryl Underwood was so funny. We had a great time.

Improv Comedy Theater provides you a comedy show with food and drink service. Expect to laugh and hear different opinions that may offend you. Arrive early for good seating, especially with special engagements. Order your food and drinks fast, it takes time to receive your order. Each show typically has three comedians on stage. I've been coming here for awhile and I truly enjoy myself each time. Thanks Improv for the outstanding service and laughs!

If you love comedy, than there's no better place to go than the Improv Comedy Theater. Open mics are held regularly during the week, and a new comic is always on their way for the weekends to rustle up some laughs. It's the perfect place to start out the night before a long bout of drinking and/or clubbing. With dark, intimate quarters, and a well-stocked bar, the Improv guarantees to relax you and put you in a good place. There is a bigger room in the back, a much bigger room with a large stage and open seating downstairs where you can eat and drink as much as you want. Of the comedy clubs sprinkled around the Tampa Bay area, the Improv meets expectations with ease.

Very happy with the act but not the facility. Was told to be there at 7pm to have dinner before the show. Got there on time and stood in line till about 7:20pm, wasn't even acknowledged. Finally a waiter named Jeffrey comes over and says we'll be seated shortly. If your gonna leave 50 something people standing in line not knowing what's gonna on then say something. The act was great, got sat right in front of the stage. Time to pay the check and there are no waiters around, very easy to just walk out but we didnt. Pay attention to your customers!

Quality staff that works hard to please the customer

Open mic isn't real. you can "sign up" but it doesn't mean anything. They literally just let their friends go (who didn't even sign up). It should just say "free comedy show"

I got to meet the comedian. Not what I expected but I guess it depends on who you meet/go to see. Overall good show.

Nice but very cluttered. If you're cluster phobic this isn't the place for you.

The comedian Shuler King WAS HILARIOUS!! But they didn't take our order for food or drinks until the show was almost over. SMH. And the food ordered was only OK. I will try something different next time

Good comedy. Sound is iffy depending on where you're sitting and getting served is hit or miss. Overall a good time.

We had a great time even though some weren't funny,but the only thing I don't like is being crammed into a little table with another couple who's taller than you.couldnt see over him no room on tables to eat. Food is good and their drinks but very uncomfortable.

Loved it. Want to go again. Having family and friends coming to Tampa on November 15th,2019 and would like to know if there is a show for this day. Friday 11/15

I have been to the Improv a few times and each experience has always been great. Unfortunately after last night my view changed considerably. the show was great but the customer service and food sucks. Horrible wait staff and horrible food. The drink I ordered was mediocre at best. They ran out of wings first and then when I did order I waited almost an hour for my food to come and then it came out incorrect. I had to send it back and that took forever for them to bring it out correct. Not only that they ran out of something else as well that went with my order. Waitress was slow to check and see if we needed anything and when she took my card to pay it was over 30 minutes before she came back with it. I will continue to support the comedians, but I will never order food and drinks here again.

It was fun to see people from all around making funny jokes. I wish it went on for longer.

I had a great time. I truly enjoyed all performers. I will be back. Hilarious!

The Comedian was very entertaining but my waitress was terrible. I do recommend the Improv Comedy Theater.

Watched Felipe Esparza & Also have seen Godfrey & Marlon Wayans. Man these guys were hilarious. Get there early place sells out. If you buy drinks get doubles it's worth it & less wait for your next round.

The comedy show was great. We were the first ones in our area to order food but the last ones to receive it. I had the cheese Quesidia, it was not good at all. I feel our server totally forgot about us. There gratuity is included also.

Staff is great, drinks were reasonable, food was ok. Still had a great experience.

The venue is so compact you can't get comfortable.
But the absolute worst part of the entire experience is the staff. No one seems happy to serve you. The guys at the front door are on some type of power Trip. The food is ok at best.

Great variety of shows! Always a fun time at the Improv. Add to your list of things to do in Ybor/Tampa. Tight seating but makes for a great time to make friends and enjoy the full experience of human contact

I ordered a house salad add grilled chicken, a Cesar salad add shrimp, a lemon drop martini with double shot in it and a Tampa drink. The WORST food ever and I definitely will not be going back ever to that improv. The grilled chicken on my salad was bagged cubed precooked, no seasoning nothing was grilled on the chicken. I ordered a double shot in my martini and it was nothing but lemon juice. When the shrimp Cesar salad came out , there was only 3 shrimps on it, mind u each salad is about $13-$14 dollars. I don t suggest this improv EVER!!!! Do not go there!!!
