Excellent selection of tackle amazing how much is packed into this small shop. They have an assortment single sold items of every size, hooks, weights, rubber swim bait tails/works, and miscellaneous tackle sold individually. You can buy 1 of each size for whatever the occasion or current/tide/depth all at reasonable prices, great to fill holes in your tackle box. Awesome customer service too.
This is the ultimate tackle shop for all your salt water fishing needs. Friendly, expert service, all kinds of fresh bait, resonable prices and great advice. Usually opens at 6am but on some days 5am. I won't go surf casting without stopping at Surfland first! After they fit you up there's no excuse for not hooking up a huge striper.

Awesome service! Prices are good for bait and rentals are very reasonable. My husband, daughter and I were able to rent surf casting poles for $10 a piece for the day.
No public bathroom..................but the beautiful woman who was working let me use theirs. I should stop there but I got to tell ya, she was chock full of information on what I needed and where to go. It all worked!!!

I fished in Plum island for the 1st time a few weeks ago and stopped in to Surfland. Boy what a selection they have in the store and incredibly friendly staff. They provided me with up-to date fishing info as well as what types of lures were popular and best of all was the quote from the lady behind the counter who said "Some people want me to go out and catch the fish for them"
Really good support and they provide services that bait and tackle stores shouldn't need to do. If you need an eye fixed on your rod, they'll do that for you for like 10 bucks.

I walked in here with flip flops and left a fisherman. Bought a totally new rod and reel on their recommendations based on my budget. I had an unforgettable experience at the store and fishing afterwards. We caught so many fish I went back for more bait the same night and was treated so well for a second time. I wanted to buy a new reel for an old rod and they talked me into just buying a $4 part instead. I couldn't believe it.

Whenever you are fishing at Plum Island, this place is a must stop. I spend a good amount of money here every year, and whenever I want my reel spun with line they do such a great job. They keep their reports and blog up to date as well which is refreshing for a bait shop!

Needed some diamond jigs for an offshore trip. This place has it all. It was like seeing an old friend even though I had never been there. Fishing talk is universal but everyone was SO FRIENDLY! If they notice this post, yes, I did catch a halibut with the jig I got from you. 33 pounds, couldn't keep it but you really hooked me up!

Kay will be missed dearly. From when my grandfather took me as a child to when my brothers and I ventured off on our own to when I brought my kids for their first fishing trips, Kay was our guide. She would mark places on maps and tell us of the islands rich history, and give us the best advice without holding back. I still have maps she made notes on and she will be a part of the island forevermore. I tell my kids stories about her kindness and generosity. Her legacy lives on.

Surfland Bait and Tackle is honestly the best fishing shop in the area. The people are super helpful, and willing to answer all your questions. They have pretty much every kind of rod, reel, and fishing gear you're bound to need.
The bait selection here is first rate. Clams, live sea worms, live eels, fresh herring and mackerel. It's also just across the street from the beach!
