Extremely overrated, there are lots of better places to have BBQ in Austin.
Extremely overrated, there are lots of better places to have BBQ in Austin.
Okra and fried green tomatoes were fried too hard. Ribs were okay, but turkey was most and flavorful
Iconic with mediocre brisket. The BBQ sauce is good tho...
Happy to attend concert. Pretty uncomfortable to have stand in the heat the whole time. Felt sorry for short people who could only see backs of other taller people. Not cheap on drinks. Don't lock your knees.
Delicious BBQ with a super fast and friendly service. Highly recommend.
Not the best barbeque in Austin, but defiantly the best pairing of 'que and music. It is also a relatively clean venue and folks are generally nice. If you somehow haven't, check it out: Stubb's is a legend for a reason, my friends.
This is only for the amphitheater. Great sound, excellent mix of talent booked, nice grading to improve line of sight. Great music venue!
Great food friendly service. A nice place to meet friends.
Don't waste your time unless you just have have a taste for overpriced bbq that is mediocre BBQ at best...lean brisket didn't have and real flavor, chicken didn't have any bbq flavor (smoke, grilled, etc...), The sausage was ok. The greens... No flavor at all.. fried green tomatoes tasted like they came straight from the freezer.. spinach tasted premade... All I am saying is the food wasn't that good. Should have known, because when I walked in, there wasn't any smell of a pit or wood burning.. oh well... Aside from the food the staff was very good and accommodating. Definitely provided great service for a sub-par product. Maybe I caught them on a bad day
Loved the decor of the place and the live band downstairs jamming..but the BBQ was just average at best..nice location and dining area just not impressed with the bbq. Ofcourse, the sauce was awesome!
Was expecting so much more with those prices... but it was good.
First timer in Austin and naturally, wanted to see what the hype was all about and get a taste for good ol' southern BBQ. Saw good reviews overall and thought this would be a great place to visit with friends for dinner.
The food didn't disappoint. The loaded potatoes were delicious and perfect.
The smoked brisket was pretty good, although, a bit too dry for my liking. The chicken had a smoked flavor to it which made it delicious.
I'd never had fried okra before and it was pretty good.
Overall, I'd say I was satisfied.
Average BBQ and sides but they serve some phenomenal collared greens.
A slanted gravel pit with filthy port o johns and no real views of the stage for those not jammed up front. How does this place consistently book the best acts?
Awesome experience!! great food good staff! Super cool historic pictures and information. Stubb was a good man and a fantastic cook. Rest in peace my friend
The brunch is very rich, there are options for vegetarians and on Sundays there is a band of gospel, but you must arrive early or do not reach place.
Saw Dropkick Murphys at the amphitheater...such. good venue! Sound was awesome!
Food's pretty solid. And I always have a great time at concerts.
I've always used their bbq sauce at home. I really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. It was unbelievable.
Bbq was so tender so awesome would love to go back for a show
Tasty food, and friendly staff. The "old house" feel to the rooms is ambient, the staff is enthusiastic. The food has a reputation of being good, and it lives up to expectation - tasty, generous portions, and overall an enjoyable experience. Just an FYI it's in a popular area, so it's all pay parking nearby, but don't let that separate you from a warm tasty mound of pulled pork and ribs.
We went here after someone recommended it because the wait at Iron Works was too long. We had never been to Austin and were really excited to try Austin BBQ but the food was so mediocre. I ordered ribs which were flavorless and dry. I had to smother them in sauce to even get a few down. Everyone else in our group was equally as disappointed in their meal. The drinks were good and so was the service but I've had better BBQ in cities that aren't known for their bbq quite honestly.
Not very good BBQ for a BBQ place. They have great live music outside. Holds over 2000 people.
Wow the food was incredible and the meat just perfectly done
Great concert space, great food. Go for the brunch!
I heard this place was prettygood and had to try it for myself. Luckily I was in town for a conference and had a chance to go to it for free. I love BBQ and this place was pretty good, I would definitely recommend it if you're visiting or looking for some solid BBQ. they have a great location that's easily walkable or taking a scooter was also a lot of fun they have a narrator for walk-ins and also an area to have great parties at
The BBQ was good. Not blow you socks off! I tried the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Ribs were the best out of the three.
Best I have ever had!!!! I wish I could have eaten more!!!! The service was amazing and the food was out of this world!!!! I would go back to Austin just to go back to Stubb's (I'm from Canada )
All-you-can-eat family style BBQ. We had a big group, so we got 5 meats and 4 sides. Brisket is great, and the cheesy spinach was awesome if a bit spicy (when you need more brisket to cut down the heat...). Great place!
Stubbs is located in the grand 6th Street District of Austin, TX. You can grab some cool tunes and great BBQ all in this legendary spot! Also when in the grocery store grab a bottle of STUBB's BBQ Sauce to take a lil of the tradition home with you.
The sides were the best part of the meal
Raw Ribs, Brisket was tough.
Way overrated, I smoke better tasting food.
Nice environment and friendly staff. BBQ is mediocre at best and WAY overpriced for the amount and quality. Seemed to be geared more towards the tourist traffic and folks relatively unfamiliar with good BBQ. It s okay, but there are better options available.
Good BBQ and awesome concert venue. We recently saw Big Head Todd there. I highly recommend this place.
I go for their outside and inside music venue. Both 4 stars. Seen everything from Blondie to Smashing Pumpkins at Stubbs. Not good for short people but there are a few good places where it is elevated, right front of the soundboard, back right and left of left speaker (bring ear plugs)
Typical bar with a decent choice of meat. Excellent beef and ribs but few side dishes. Ultimately a not excellent but discreet place. Live music and great service.
I am security for the concerts for Stubb's. Freaking excellent venue.
Brisket was very tender the peach cobbler just right
Best brisket in Austin! The food, staff and atmosphere are above par. Generous portions.
Great music venue, but stay away when its raining. Talk about a mud pit.
Medicore, portion were a bit on the small side also felt a hurried .
To be fair we were there early afternoon so couldn't geet a feel of the atmosphere of all it had to offer.
It's Stubb's...... What else is there really to say? Good food, amazing venue for some of the best concerts that I've ever been to. Plus, the BBQ sauce is delicious on everything. The competition for savory BBQ sauce is huge in Austin, and Stubb's definitely is on my Top 3 favorites.
Great venue for live music, so long as it doesn't rain.
My favorite outdoor venue in Austin. Great shows and easy to see for big and small.
I saw one of the Chappelle shows at Stubbs. The show was great, Stubbs marginal at best. Food was tepid at best, and no value for what you got. Also the show was outside on a night in January, the place doesn't even serve coffee, tea or cocoa. Service was slow, and mostly unattentive.
Fun party event atmosphere the BBQ was good not the best mayve cause it was such a big party it was more catered. Ribs live read 30 minute wait which they could create two lines next time?
We've enjoyed the sauce for a while now, finally got a chance to enjoy the BBQ. It was great! Large portions of brisket and sides. Really good. Parking is challenging but it's downtown Austin.
Great food. It was very busy and the service kept up with it, food was right out and drinks kept coming.. great beer selection
Great BBQ and large portions. It would be hard to leave here hungry
Amazing customer service! Everyone there seems to love their job and it shows in how they treat the customers. I've never had such a great time!
We went on a Sunday evening and although a band was there and there was a small crowd the service was quick. I had ribs, brisket, potato salad and beans which were all good. Usually bbq restaurant potato salad is not very good but this was tasty.
An Austin original. One of the premier preforming arts venues in #ATX ...
Decent fried green tomatoes yet brisket was a disappointment.
You can't go wrong with the combo plates here. If you're really hungry they have family style all you can eat!
There are two sides to Stubb's: Food and music
Food: It's not good BBQ at all, especially for Austin's standards. If Stubb's existed in a region that had no BBQ then perhaps it would be decent, but fact of the matter is Central Texas is the BBQ capital of the world and Stubb's is basically an Olive Garden in Italy. It's a place tourists eat at, and locals avoid.
Music: Stubb's is a great music venue. They feature shows outdoors in their large area, as well as indoors which is a much more intimate stage. They did a great job on the lawn as it slants up so if you're standing in the back you can still get a good view of the stage. Indoors is small so you can be back at the bar yet still be close to the stage. Typically the bands that play indoors will hang out after if you want to talk to them for a bit.
I hope they aren't paying their bands with BBQ.
Go for the music, not the food.
Live music, good beer, great people. A great part of Austin and a great experience to see live music
The service was amazing. she checked on us literally every minute. the food was ok. it wasnt for me. the sausage had a gamey taste and the ribs, wings and brisket were cold and tasted like it was cooked on peppered wood. thats the best way i can describe it. the price was good for downtown and the atmosphere. the restrooms were clean and creatively built.
Stubbs barbecue was really amazing we had a live band and the food was delicious and I definitely had my caloric intake for the day. They also donate the leftover food to the homeless in the area which I thought was really cool and supportive of the community. Our company had an open bar but I didn t drink so Diet Coke and ice tea with all I had
The barbeque sauce is legendary! Loved listening to the band while we waited for a table.
I did not eat here, only saw a performance (Fantastic Negrito) which I loved - sadly, Stubb's seems surrounded by homelessness it takes away from the overall enjoyment when you're leaving... happy, only to see such destitution. Really Austin, TX???
Went to Stubbs on Sunday for the gospel brunch buffet. Our first time. What a fun experience! The live music was great & the bbq was delicious. We sampled the brisket, chicken & sausage. All were moist, tender & flavorful. Our server was excellent, helpful & friendly. We sat on the 2nd level balcony overlooking the stage, which gave us a great view of the band. The cost seems a little pricey at first, but with the quality of the music & food, it's a good value. My only gripe is that they don't have ribs on the brunch buffet. I would have liked to taste the ribs.
Was here for football game and had just a great experience we went back for a 2nd time. Loved the spinach side with the major platter.
We caught the afternoon version of the Gospel Brunch. The Gospel performers were top notch! But to our dismay the buffet-style food was mediocre. I would still recommend you check it out because it's something different to do in the Austin scene.
