Seems a little overhyped and pretty overpriced. I got a Stubbs minor and it was okay. Kind of wish I tried Franklin BBQ instead. Barbecue is good if you just want the experience and don't care about the price or waiting.

Delicious as always! I got brisket, turkey, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes which are always perfect. The mac and cheese was better than usual, not as watery. Their salsa is AMAZING and queso is delicious! I can't wait to go back!

Wait for a table was nominal. Had a drink at the bar while waiting. Discovered new one, Amaretto Sour. Wonderful taste! Ordered 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage. Fantastic flavor and very tender meat!! Also sides, fried okra and onion rings. Best I ever had. Atmosphere was not too loud to have conversations. Service was ok.
Would have given 4 Stars but bathroom was downstairs. I can't do stairs because of knee replacement. Staff had to take me down in an elevator. Kinda embarrassing. Probably won't go back because of that. Too bad. BBQ was really good.

I went and saw Angel Olsen at the Levitation festival, I bought expensive VIP tickets to ensure that I had the best night possible seeing her, but no staff could tell us what to do with our VIP tickets, hoW to get in, where to go, we got several different and complicated answers and eventually we just went through an open unguarded back gate, found VIP lounge on our own. We were promised a complimentary Levitation poster, we paid for that, we didn t get one. No one knew where they were apparently. It was around 40 degrees and the lounge was unheated and the windows and doors all open. We basically paid plenty extra for no reason, we got nothing extra out of it.. I still would like to receive my poster if possible.

Bar-B-Q is just average. The menu says the ribs fall off the bone, but I had heard from a few people that they didn't. We asked our waiter before ordering and he said "honestly, they don't fall off the bones" so we decided not to order any.
The brisket is really good and the turkey was really good. The sides lack in quality though. You can tell that most of the sides are made in huge batches and sit in warmers all day.
What's probably most disappointing is that they only have the Original style Stubb's BBQ sauce. When asking the waiter why this was the case, he only responded with "idk that's just all we got."

I recently discovered the music of Gillian Welch, absolutely amazing music. When I saw she was playing att Stubbs,I thought about it and said yeah it's been years and seen live music lets go . Went to the website and booked tickets. Said it was an outdoor venue, didn't say anything about no seats. I was contemplating trying to get some other people go, I checked the place out realize there was a place to set. Decided to do this my own, asked the hostess had a to get a seat, he said it's only standing, no waiting in the VIP, I was stuck.
Next-day I call starting at 10 o'clock in the morning leaving messages with three different managers, inquiring on how I can handle the problem of being old overweight and not having the ability to stand for five hours. Not a single one returned my call.
June 8 6:45 pm, I arrive about an hour and 15 min. early, surprised to see no line, I talk to the people setting up the performance area. They point out two places to sit and say they can get a chair for me if I need. Go inside have dinner, fantastic barbecue, the mashed sweet potatoes, and the serrano cheese spinach were absolutely amazing, the brisklet was very tender. Figured I'd waited until 7:00 in there and then had outside, then I realized there was a waiting line, so I went outside to stand in line. I got in and got the spot sit on the rock wall between the bar and food outlet on the right side. Was interesting watching the people, fortunately I had a new contact on LinkedIn that had a bunch of really interesting contacts so I spent my time delving into that.
After about a hot after about an hour my rear is numb from sitting on the rocks, but I know is getting close to start time 8:30 so I stay there. Concert starts right on time, amazing Gillian Welch sounds exactly the same person that she does on the recordings. After about three songs I get up and move to the front. Good spot but I'm standing and there is no breeze, stay there for about three more songs, they go to the back with a little effort get the chair promised me when I came in. I sat down next to the fan and water coolers, after about 10 min. I struck up a conversation with one of the security people. It turns out his family and mine are from the same small towns outside of Houston, Belleville and Industry. At one place where there still extended families and people know each other, hadn't changed much in the last 50 years. Have a wonderful conversation with him, the first set ends and and I leave.
I'm amazed if they can get 2100 people in that area, I'm amazed people will stand up for five hours to listen to music, I would love to pick the brain of whoever put this place together. Wonder if it evolved or somebody envisioned it the way it is from the beginning.
It is definitely Austin, the people with the keep Austin weird T-shirts, I think you're succeding.
Is an interesting venue, deftly Austin, but upper management seems to have no concern about the comfort of some of its patrons. Initially when the tickets are sold there should be a big statement outside and no seating. Also management should be response when somebody calls with a question after having bought tickets trying to figure out how to watch the show, they should return a phone call. That's what managers supposed to do. The place is very interesting, the food was great, the standup entertainment was a odd thing. I would to go back for the food, but not to stand for five hours to watch somebody play music.
My first live music in decades left me with the impression It s a lot like the Super Bowl, sounds cool to be there but you are better of watching, or listening in your own space. It was fun driving around UT again, I put Gillian Welch CD on and top down and had a great time. The best part of evening was sharing family history with the security person and driving around Austin lisgtening to Gillian Welch.

They only have porta potties, no restrooms, and before you go in they metal detector you and go through your purse. They told me I can t bring in pepper spray but they don t have anywhere to store it so you throw it away or hide it...so there were a couple annoying things, but the sound quality was good so overall it s a good theater.

Excellent BBQ, falls off the bone. The service is friendly and if you come for a concert in the venue, they allow moving between eating and the bar. Only drawback is the venue/bar is small and gets crowded quickly so come early to hold your spot.

Touristy. Food and service good. The place has a lot of character based on its long history. The BBQ is ok and location very accessible to downtown. The service is attentive, but very touristy with non-genuine hey buddy approach. If you are into BBQ there are a lot of great places in Austin. For this one the big plus was more the location and history.

I came for the all you can eat breakfast. The food was good and there was a large selection of choices as well. I always like variety and the food quality was good, especially for a buffet, which usually are a little lower quality. There's also live music and they serve good drinks as well. It's not my favorite bbq place, but it's good, especially for brunch.

Good solid BBQ, smoke flavor definitely good but different than the hickory I am used to. Brisket was moist and tender and they serve you both flat and point. Spare ribs also had perfect texture but rub was a big lacking. Tried the turkey also good taste but a bit dry. The selection of sauces helped with that. Service was excellent. THE FAT MAN KNOWS!

Fast, friendly Bar-B-Q with streamlined platter, sandwich and sides menu. Ample napkins required and supplied. Also all you-can-eat option for big appetites. Loud to very loud when crowded at dinner. Catering operation is substantial if you've got a bigger party to host. Limited parking space in own lot or on street.

Reliable BBQ, but sort of the Times Square of Austin BBQ, so you'll find better and easier options elsewhere. But, if you are staying in the area or you're looking for good live music on a more established stage (and acts), Stubbs will serve you well.

Went for a concert. The venue is outside. The skies opened up and drenched us! They don't let you have an umbrella. They don't let you bring in any food or drink. They won't refund your money if you leave because sitting in the pouring rain for two hours while no one plays isn't your idea of fun. They didn't have the best communication about when/if the band was actually going to come on and they didn't have anywhere for the majority of the people to go.
This seems like it might be nice for a warm summer nice with good weather, but our experience was not very good at all.
Only plus was that the band eventually went on and they played good music.

Awesome concert venue! I was here all the time for shows as an undergrad: Thrice. Thursday. Coheed&Cambria. DJ Shadow and the Quannum Label.
I also ate here one time as my "celebration lunch" after being sworn into the Texas bar a few blocks away, back in 'ye olden days. After having been to so many shows here I knew they had food, and I buy spicy Stubbs BBQ at Kroger's like it is water, but I had never been in to try the food. So that had to change.
You order lunch at the bar, like its a drink - sweet.
You can pick your seat inside or out on the veranda.
It was not very busy at lunch time. It was always way more packed at dinner, I suppose so lazy people could sit and listen to concert, instead of stand like the rest of us yokels.
Brisket: 3 stars. Plus or minus, it could be about as good as Rudy's
Potato salad: 2.5 stars. It is not as good as Rudy's, at least in my tastes
Pinto beans: 2 stars. Very, very, very soupy. Lots of pork (?) chunks. This makes me sad.
I would still come back and eat here. It was not awful. It was just not as epic of a BBBQ (the extra B means BYOBB) Simpsons-inspired experience as I had hoped it would be.

An austin must! Worth at least one show. Lights great sounds great! Atmosphere...can be great! I have to be honest tho... Was once best venue in Austin hands down. 5 years ago i would have given all 5 stars and its with a heavy heart i have to give only 3. Over serving is a serious problem. The security is top notch but the actual staff seems indifferent. The portapottys are always beyond dirty even at early events and the free water is luke warm. The last two shows i have attended (in less than a year) i have either been spilled on or fallen/leaned on. Truly disappoints me as this was my favorite venue growing up in austin my entire life. I feel it has succumed to the red river syndrome. I left early from both shows because of the drunk people around me. I hope they will one day keep up the standards they used to uphold. Ive had so many good memories here and the drinks are good and its always fun but it really ruins your night when the back of shirt is soaked or a strangers sweaty chest is pressed up against you or they straight just fall out behind you...not fun. Bartenders pay attention!

Overrated BBQ & HORRIBLE SERVICE
The service was horrible and not clean. In a span of 3hrs we received 3 servers and we only saw them once on every occasion. One for drinks, the other for food and the last one came to manually write down our order because drinks were not added in our bill.
Glad it's my last.

This was a recommendation for me, and I honestly wasn't too thrilled with the food. I got a pulled pork sandwich, and that was actually really good! But I was disappointed in the sides. I know that sounds crazy because most people don't get BBQ for the sides, but I guess I'm weird because I love sides! They don't have normal baked beans there - they have pinto beans with jalapenos which, to be fair, I didn't try, but I knew it wouldn't be the same. The cornbread is jalapeno cornbread, which was good, but not what I was looking for (just normal cornbread).

Stubbs is a BBQ restaurant located in downtown Austin. The service is efficient and friendly and the portions plentiful and tasty. We didn't have to reserve in advance - despite it being a Saturday night, and there seems to be plenty of tables. We ordered the turkey and chicken. Whilst the chicken was moist and had a wonderful smoky flavour, the turkey was a little on the dry side- but had a rich BBQ flavour. The sides we ordered (mac and cheese, 'slaw, fries and onion rings were tasty and filling. The walls are filled with signed photos of musicians and concert posters. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in Austin.

I was fortunate enough to have my first Gospel Brunch experience recently, and I highly recommend it for both Austin locals and visitors alike. A quick call to the Stubb's reservation line will get you into the 10:30 or 12:30 seating (and reservations seem to be necessary, as both seatings were entirely sold out). You have the option to pick a seating area with or without a view of the band. If you're going with a group of people and want to hear each other over the music, I recommend choosing seating without a view of the band. The music is still easy to hear and enjoyable without front-row seats.
The brunch itself is a nice spread, with options ranging from traditional breakfast to Tex-Mex to BBQ. Be sure to save room for brisket--it's melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Overall I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the music and food as well as the speed and quality of service. Stubb's knows what they're doing. And if you have guests in from out of town, this is a great way to get great BBQ and live music in one of Austin's best venues at the same time.
