Great live music venue and bbq. We did the gospel brunch! Really cool experience.
This is the best place for Sunday Gospel Brunch! Great music and delicious food!
I would not come here just for the BBQ, as the food is nothing particularly special and you can very easily find better BBQ elsewhere, but Stubb's is great as a music venue. A wide variety of artists come to play here, and I can't say I've ever seen a bad show here.
Great concert venue. Open area. Good view from nearly all sides.
Small but cute music venue. They do not serve down there, however, so you will need to walk upstairs and order something to go is you want to eat BBQ during the event. This location is very near a very busy homeless shelter, but not an issue.
Pros: friendly staff; minimal wait; all you can eat options. Cons: rough location; can be lackluster for the price. Decent outing if you're famished and want to fill up on sausage (ok), brisket (blah), and ribs (decent).
Typical place where you can eat grilled Texan food doc ... Carattestisco is good ... Prices in the standard to try
We went to the Rachel Ray showcase during SXSW and had a blast!! The shows were great and the free food was Awesome!!!
Meat is so tender. Sauce is tops. You can catch a show while eating! Service was great. It is a bit cramped when busy because the tables are so close to each other all over the restaurant, but the food is worth it. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich plate with fries and collard greens.
Good BBQ and drinks. Venue is very busy with concerts or art exhibits. Surrounding areas is also great for music!
I had the moist brisket and fried okra. It was amazing! The atmosphere is fun and eye-catching. We went with the whole family and everyone liked it.
The food was good, so was the atmosphere. I love the restaurant for a music venue, both inside and out. Definitely would recommend for food and music to anyone.
This place has it all great bar-b-que, mutiple bars, great music. Located up the street from 6th street. I'm from Florida and I would have to say that this is some of the best BBQ that i've had.
Brisket was good, ribs didn't have a lot of flavor. Mac and cheese was awesome. Our waitress Sarah, probably the biggest disappointment. Not attentive. Didnt check on us once since our food was served (which was brought to us by another waiter). She was nice to us but she definitely had attitude with her fellow co workers. She wasn't too quiet about it either. Very unprofessional.
I've seen some incredible shows there over the years, PJ Harvey being the most recent. I have to wonder if it will be my last. She was amazing, however I couldn't really see her. It was super crowded and unless you are willing to get a spot early and park it there most of the night, it's nearly impossible to penetrate the crowd. You spend a good portion of the evening trying to get to/from the potty and getting a drink. If crowds don't bother you and you can get in a good spot, it's a great venue.
Poor excuse for southern BBQ. The meat had very little flavor. It was extremely bland. I was expecting more flavor in the bbq sauce since Stubbs is known for their bbq...terrible. It was too vinegary and did not have the right balance of spice.
Between the barbecue and the music, Stubbs is the best.
Very fast service. The food is nothing spectacular, but it is good.
Seen lots of great shows here, prefer the outdoors stage. Also, this is where the Rachel Ray SXSW party happens every year... good times!
Best BBQ in Austin Tx. Incredibly moist brisket. Amazing sausage and ribs. If you don t eat bbq here then you will be disappointed with any other choice!! Amazing!
Cheap and delicious barbecue, choose from one to three main dishes, and choose beef, pork, chicken from sausages and so on. You can choose the side menu as well. While choosing chicken and sausage, coleslaw and okra fritters got a local beer, but since it is not greasy, this is the right answer for lunch.
Good slow cooked brisket! Good service...came for the music .
THE place to see a show in Austin. The beer is ok, the food is alright, but the experiences are priceless.
I feel like someone just stole my money! Cold, over priced food(for what I just ate), and definately not a tourist attraction. Last night in Austin, worse experience!
We came to Austin to see the Formula 1 race over the weekend and were hard pressed for late night BBQ. This place was open until 9 thankfully, and it was decent. We both got brisket and it was really smoky and tender. The sauce I would say is in between sweet and tangy. I'm not a huge fan of really fatty pieces and the last 2 slices I had were 95% fat so I didn't eat those. Still good all in all. It would have been a really cool place to sit down and eat but they had a band playing there so it was too packed for us. Maybe next time.
Great music events and I enjoy grabbing drinks and tacos
Great as a music venue! I have not tried the food though.
I don't need barbecue, but I love a good rock concert. Stubbs is an excellent venue it's got the right amount of dirt, grit, and loud speakers. I've never had to worry about the sound being too high by blowing out my eardrums. There audio operator knows what she/he is doing.
First off the ribs were dry and the potato salad was salty, sausage taste boiled. Food was over priced for the small portion.
Lunch was great. Turkey and sausage were both good.
Food was tip top, our server however was in a seriously bad mood from the start and ignored us several times. We just wanted some water. Messed up the check splitting and other little things. But yeah the food was so good I can't take any stars.
I'm visiting Austin and I ate here twice because it was so good! I ordered the 2 meat plate (pork ribs, beef brisket) and both were tender and perfect! They we're seasoned just right.
The sides I ordered we're Mac n cheese and fried okra. The portions are generous. The Mac n cheese was the best ever! It was creamy and the shell shaped Mac was cooked just right! The okra was hot, crispy, and delicious.
Definitely try the jalepinio corn bread.
The service was great. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We had a great time. I'm a BBQ fanatic, so when I say 5 stars, I mean it's out of this world good! Thanks for being the highlight of my Austin experience!
Great venue, great bands, downtown Austin. What else do you want?
Good place to see a show. Yes, it's hot as hell and dusty outside in summer but it's a fun venue. The area around here has really been cleaned up in recent years, which I suppose is good for safety and tourism but not so good for "classic Austin." In my opinion the grittiness was part of the scene and I do miss it a bit. No matter what the show this place is always packed but if you feel like you need some space, you can always stand further back where the crowd thins out. I've been coming here for shows since I was 12, and over ten years later, it's still a fun place
Got a meal here during a business trip because it was close to my hotel. I had also read overwhelmingly positive reviews. They were right! I was thrilled by how fast my food came and with the taste. I had my entire meal ordered, eaten, and paid for in under 30 minutes. I went a little early in the evening so I didn't stay for any music but it looks like they have a lot of cool shows too!
A bit pricey compared to other bbq but good and downtown.
As good as expected, loved everything great food, service, atmosphere. Best brisket in town.
We ate lunch there. The interior all wood is nice enough, the service was good too. The food was good too. What explains my note is that we took a salad Cesar (a wide) and we saw that for 12 dollars we had a cesar ... without meat. Only salad and sauce and a little cheese. And all pretty small anyway. A shame in the usa, they are all over-sized . In fact you have to add 4 dollars to have the accompaniment of meat. So almost 16 dollar pr a salad of a very average size. That's why my note
Great tasting Barbecue, the ribs and brisket were very moist and tender. Don't let the lack of the smell of smoke fool you, this place is very good. Good venue for live music as well.
It's Stubbs!!!! Great bbq while watching great music. Gets a little congested, but not bad.
Nice atmosphere, but the food was just mediocre. Had the brisket sandwich - the meat was dry, tough with big pieces of unrendered fat, also there was very little sauce on it. Better BBQ avail elsewhere.
It's one of the fun place if you want to enjoy beer, beef and live music together. Not a quet place to enjoy meal though.
Great introduction to southern bbq. It's hard to keep the ambiance that you find in small towns, bit the downtown Austin music crowd can get a pretty good idea of what southern bbq tastes like. The portions are big. Service fast, meet tender. Sauce is Stubby.
Stubbs is a solid choice for BBQ over and over again..
Had the Sunday gospel brunch today. Phenomenal. The brisket melted in thy mouth( made by the lovely cook Cornelio). They had everything you could want for a brunch, pancakes, migas, potatoes, grits, brisket, and pies for dessert. Can't emphasize enough now good the combination of food and gospel music was. Will be coming back.
Way too crowed and hot, left about a quarter into the show.
Ribs were good, so was the sauce. Brisket was dry, but good. The "pulled" pork didn't pull apart. Slaw and potato salad were both pretty good.
Stops as a great music venue and a mediocre barbecue place you know a restaurant but not really restaurant because it's more of a music venue than anything. Their brisket is great.
Super delicious BBQ. Photo is the Bar-b-q plate (pictured is the Angus beef brisket) with two sides. The sides are sarrento cheese spinach (has some kick to it) and the mashed sweet potatoes. The soft drink cups must be like 20-24 oz cups. Humongous. Brought my wife and three kids there and everyone loved it.
We went for dinner rather than a show. Thought the BBQ was really good...great pulled pork and sweet potato fries especially.
i love the idea of a music/restaurant venue. the staff put up with a lot but they are always so awesome about it. decently priced and best bbq i have had yet
Food was a disappointment and the service was not the best.
The service is great, the music is even better. It's crazy to say it but the food being excellent is the icing on the cake. The brisket is a must get, and get some sausage too if you have any room left.
Show was great, staff were friendly, but the basement we were in had next to no air conditioning whatsoever. I could have filled a pitcher with my sweat alone.
Awesome food and drinks, vibe there was very chill and welcoming, needs parking don't like paying for parking to eat there.
I went for Dance Gavin Dance concert, and they were phenomenal.. the stage was amazing and we got really close to where I could see Tilian up close. Other than that.. as for Stubs it wasn't that great. The BBQ sandwiches were bland and we were never told where the condiments for our sandwiches were. The serves were rude and unfriendly.
Skip the bbq but be sure to catch a show. Stubb's brings in some great bands and it's a great venue.
One of the better BBQ places in Austin. Especially downtown.
Went on a Saturday around 9pm. A group of us went so we were able to share multiple things. The brisket was a bit dry. The chicken was average. Pulled pork and beef were better. Ribs were fantastic. None of the sides we ordered were anything to write home about.
