Very honest and competent staff! Replaced my cell screen and did a great job

If I could give it 0 stars I would. WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I've never written a review on any service experience, so this should be a good indication on just how awful it was. I had my screen repaired by them a few months back and they put a glass protector on it. The glass protector broke, and when I tried to take it off the screen came with it. Now, this could just be a coincidence, but it's definitely a possibility that they did not properly place the screen on correctly and that's why the screen came off with it, which should just never happen. I took it back and instead of replacing it (as they promise with a 1 year warranty) the owner called me a "drunken monkey" and insisted it was my fault. So, desperate for my phone to be replaced I had them fix it (and paid full price) only for the new screen to go completely haywire 30 minutes later. I brought it back the next day and the owner told me it was in no way his fault, and that it must have been me. He said "You mean nothing to me, and I'll only fix this if you admit that I'm doing you a favour." Are you serious? The customer should mean everything to you as you depend on them to keep your business going. The owner is a bully and almost brought me to tears. Hands down the worst customer service I have ever had.

I had a good experience at this store. Honest and helpful staff. The store has a number of cell phones and accessories in addition to some hard to find games for older consoles.

I needed to get the glass on my iPhone 4 glass screen replaced after dropping and cracking it. I walked in and about 20 minutes and $77 later it was replaced. It's been over a week now and the phone's functionality is exactly as it was before I broke the front of the phone. (I had read horror stories of cheap replacement parts used at different stores - so I was worried the digitizer wouldn't function well.) I'd go back.

Fantastic service, fixed my waterlogged Note 5 on the spot. Highly recommended!

I first met him when my iPad 2 stopped working. He took it in, found out my charger was dead. So instead of charging me. (I wouldn't have known any better). He just returned the iPad to me!

Also got my power button fixed (nexus5) from him and there's a warranty on his service.

Technician sloppy and unprofessional. Took days to repair. Kept delaying. Finally broke my phone. Would not go again. Also to mention, a female tech is also there sometimes, she is quite rude.

AMAZING! I have been a long time customer of Stellar Cellular and they have always provided absolutely amazing service! Fast, affordable products and proper friendly service! After reading some of the other review I was shocked... consider the source of these as I have been there when some people go off on the staff, when the problem is truly due to the customers own neglect or idiocracy. Richard and his team end up being pin cushions for these idiots and feel bad, enough for me to write this review. THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE CITY! ...Highly recommend!

An unassuming store run by your neighbourhood tinkerers. Had to replace my Nexus 6 screen which is an expensive part (more so than iPhone)... They had the lowest price after shopping around. Although the technician couldn't repair to original condition (couldn't reattach a layer under the screen which house the speaker grills) and was nonchalant about it without much explanation. The screen turns out to be slightly defective as well with color imbalance and flickering (parts are not under their warranty).

Overall acceptable as a slightly cheaper and much faster alternative than send in to original manufacturer (Motorola). Although given the result I would had spent a bit more and wait for Motorola to repair instead.

Richard is THE BEST - he's always super busy...so sometimes the more complicated the job is the more time it takes...but that's all good. Pretty hard to find knowledgable people to do what he does!

Before everything he was friendly. But he doesn't take much time discussing what the problem with your phone could be. He told me that it will cost me 200$ to fix the phone but after he opened it and saw that it wasn't a big issue he told me 40$. So he was honest.

went in with a smashed iphone screen the owner richard went out of his way to help me and set me up with a tempered glass screen protector cheap and now when i sit on the screen 99 % of the time the protectir breaks and not the screen aaved me soo much money costs 10 bux to replace the protectir instead of 100 for new screen

Got my charge port fixed on my Samsung in less than an hour. It was also fixed right in front of me as there is no backroom repairs going on here. I DID need my battery repaired as it was explained to me that if the battery falls below 3.5V it will not be able to be charged in my phone. This is due to something built into the phones. Very Stellar work!

This guy is the absolute best in the city. I've bought phones from him and had him fix my phone a few times and it's always done promptly with the cost being very reasonable. I would walk the extra mile and even pay an extra dollar just to revive that kind of customer service. Thank you stellar phone repair.

I am a techno idiot...I use my cell phone as best as I can. Of course I dropped it. I came in and the manager was very helpful and it only took a few hours to repair. Good as new and very reasonable. Glad I found this awesome store...Also love the music : )

Asked about getting my cellphone repaired. Price they asked was outrages for five minuets of work. They also told me to f*** off as I left. Very unprofessional. Just another rip off shop.

As soon as I said I wanted to know what was wrong with my phone I was ignored entirely! And just went back to working and talking to another customer who was just waiting. I didn't even get to finish talking. The guy talked like I was wasting his time. I guess he got so many costumers that he didn't care about one not repairing their phone there. I don't know about the repair, but horrible service,

I brought my phone and a new screen to get the screen replaced. A few days later the screen malfunctioned. When I took it back the guy scoffed at the idea that he could've broken it. I took it to another shop and they said the previous repair had damaged the phone and it was impossible to replace.

Not to mention that the guy is quite unfriendly in dealing with customers. When I first brought it in, I asked for a receipt when I dropped off the phone. He said he wouldn't give me one and "if you dont trust me take your business somewhere else". Well, I WISH I HAD.

Replaced headphone jack really quickly (90 minutes). Although left some scratches, id say the experience was very positive.

I went to to the store to get my broken nexus 5 screen repaired. They told me it would cost $150 and being desperate and seeing the price i believed the parts would be okay and the price justified. When i got my phone back the screen that they used was extremely poor quality. I decided to count my losses and take it anyway. After I got my phone back my 3G would not work. I looked in my phone and discovered that the wire was left completely disconnected. I connected the wire and after a couple weeks the screen began failing, pixles were dying and the screen looked like garbage. I looked and did some research and to buy a normal screen would be 60 dollars! This store is a rip off don't ever go here.

Richard was very knowledgable and fast in solving many complex technological issues I brought in. I don't know how he did it, but he was able to recover, restore and root out information I thought I would never be able to recover. I'm very grateful to him.
I have brought my computer issues to him several times with confidence he can resolve them.
He is a technical genius.

Paid $282 for galaxy s7 lcd replacement, the screen started flashing after 1 day. Went back the next day but they wouldn't replace it and tried to charge me extra for the work. Stobborn man kept on blaming me saying that I dropped it. I didn't. Their rude attitude made me cry on the spot. I had to take it to a different place on spadina who did it for $220. Extremely dissappointed with Steller Cellular. Would sue them if I could. Please save your money and go somewhere else

I went in with a phone i had been having alot of trouble unlocking. I left it with them for about 6 hours and for 35 dollars , they unlock it!!! I am so happy with there services I will recommend them ..

They fixed a broken Nexus 4 at a good price and were nice and friendly.

I would use them again.

Brought my phone in at 1PM due to my signal dropping in and out, and my batter dying whenever it did try to re-connect. They assured me that they would figure out the issue in an hour and give me a price to fix it. I checked back two hours later and they were too 'swamped' - but they assured me again, they would figure out the problem and have it fixed by closing time. I went home, and called them at 4:30pm and they again said they were too swamped and I was 'pressuring them too much.'
They said I could just come pick up the phone.

Had they actually done what they said they'd do, they would've opened the phone to see I need a new battery, and could have replaced it in 10 mins.

Terrible, arrogant and egotistical service.

Stellar service!! I unreservedly recommend Stellar Cellular. My daughter's been their customer for years and now I've needed their services on 3 occasions and each visit was more fun than the last! I wouldn't go anywhere else. I didn't even have to pull out my mother of a friend card!!

The experience I had with Richard gave me the impression that he was honest, knowledgeable, and good at what he does. Stellar Cellular has an awesome atmosphere with a cool collection of digital/video game/camera/action figure paraphernalia around the store. It's a mom and pop shop, so if you have to drop money on something you know it's going to a good place. (Richard seems like a really great guy, and you can see pictures that his kids have drawn if you look closely enough around the shop). Richard isn't going to trick you into getting something you don't need, he's straight about what the issue is, and he does what needs to be done. Would happily give my business again.

I had an excellent experience here. I called in advance to ask if my phone could be fixed and what the cost would be. It was the best price in my area. When I came in shortly after, the technician fixed my phone on the spot while we chatted. Great service. I will return if I ever need anything else and will recommend this business to my friends and family.

i went in to repair a smashed screen of an Iphone. when i got home the home button wouldnt worked. i went back in. they fixed everything and even threw in a case and a screen protector free of charge. They didnt have to do all this and i didnt ask. really friendly people. they actually care about the customers.

Came in with a massively cracked IPhone 7, the owner said no problem and within 30 mins it was done! Bought a screen protector at the same time and he installed it perfectly. However we then noticed a defect on the screen itself. He changed it without hassle and was kind enough to give me a discount.

Staff was extremly polite. My biggest concern coming in was mostly based off my research online (eg. other Google Reviews). I can say that the quality of the screen is on par with my original screen and I was comfortable giving them my business, because I witnessed several other customers who had just had their phones serviced go on their way, but before each person left the staff told them they could come back if they had any issues with their phones - no questions asked, no expiry dates on warranties, etc. You can tell these guys stand behind their work.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best place to get your electronics repaired and they had a variety of interesting items for sale too!

Having a OnePlus 3 as a phone and called around to fix the fix the screen the prices I was getting was just over priced over the price was right with quick service

These guys were great! I went in expecting to have to give up my phone for a week and he fixed it under 15 minutes and for half the price of a competing phone store. I would DEFINITELY suggest going here... awesome customer service and decent prices!

Polite and friendly guy. Competitive pricing quoted on the phone. However, he quoted me 1 hour to repair the broken screen/front housing and here is how the story goes ...

Business Day 1 (BD1) I give him the white Samsung Galaxy S3 and I returned to the store about an hour after dropping it off ... he almost put a blue screen/front housing on a white phone without asking the customer first! He asked at that point and I said I would prefer a white screen/front housing on the white phone. He said that it would be done the next business day. On BD2 I follow up and he says it would be done that day. On BD3 I follow up and he gives me the run-around again, saying that his supplier would provide him the part and that he would check the tracking number and call me back in an hour. Yet again he does not follow up and then I showed up in person to request the phone back, at which point he continues to give new deadlines. Next he calls his supplier to find out when the part will arrive and still has no clear idea!

Granted that a sunday came in between and increased my time without the phone, and hence my frustration. However, he was not up front that he did not have the required part; neither on the phone nor in person when taking the white phone for repair. So I took it to another store and got the phone repaired within 40 mins flat.

Nov 2016 (5 stars): I found Richard helpful and efficient. I brought in my iPhone 5 to be repaired. It cost $90, not sure how it compares to other places; but it depends on the type of iPhone. He replaced the screen, and gave me a free screen protector. He did the repair in 30mins, which was super fast. One thing I would suggest is to attend to walk-in customers first; those on a call can always call back. I waited a couple minutes for him to end a call; but he was friendly, prompt and knowledgeable hence the 5 stars.
Jan 31/17 update: my screen is wonky - sometimes it is not receptive to the touch, no rhyme or reason. I will be contacting Stellar about this.
Feb 25/17 update: I sent a message via their website and almost a month later, no response!
Feb 26/17 update: I went in, and we had a disagreement.
March 1/17 update: I went back and Richard replaced the screen free of charge, out of goodwill. Thank you.

Overall, a good guy, knowledgeable and fast service. Just a bit unprofessional, but I think the stress of owning a small business is heavy; I won't fault him entirely. I adjusted my review to 4-stars (from originally 5).

I don't normally do reviews, but THE FASTEST service EVER!! I walked in to get my screen fixed, scrolled through instagram, sipped my coffee and literally walked out 30mins later (but only felt like 8 mins later!).

Terrible customer service. The owner was unable to unlock my phone, didn't call to notify me of the situation (I had to call the store after two weeks of waiting), became extremely agitated when he was refunding me the cost of the unlock, and refused to give me any assistance or recommendations on how to complete the unlock.

I've been going to Stellar Cellular for the past 5 years and continue to recommend them to anyone who has cellphone issues. They have always gone above and beyond expectations and have been able to fix any issues I've had (including an iPhone that went through a full laundry cycle). Prices are very reasonable.

I had my LG charge port replaced. one day it was working the next it was not.
the owner was reasonably good about it, and but for a few fumbles at the point of sale, everything went smooth.

Except that THAT night when I tried to charge the phone there is an obvious short in the charge port. I know this because I had to prop the phone up by the wire on a book because unless it was in that specific position, it would not charge.

Not surprisingly, 3 weeks later, this was no longer suitable either, and the phone would not charge. I went back only to be told that they do not warrantee port replacements because people are always abusing their phones. When I tried to explain that I was having issues from day 1, he kept cutting me off to tell me that he "is not really going to debate this with you."

To his credit, he did say he will warrantee it "just this once."

When I returned at 3:00 (same day) he said the charge port was not the issue. the battery was so drained that it could not be charged via port. he externally charged the battery. he did not look into the port short, because he never let me tell him there was one. And he treated me like I am constantly abusing the phone that I baby.

I asked if there was any way I could externally charge the battery myself, he said "sure. you will have to break down the phone, and add electricity to it somehow." I thanked him and left.

I would rather drive anywhere else than to go back.

They where OK, my only problem is the price, for a phone repair they asked for twice the price compared to other shops

Had the usb port on my HTC One die on me. The part online was $37 and they did the repair for $50 so a good deal. The only thing is the site shows the entire chip board and ribbon cables for the charge port, but when I asked how the repair is done, they were honest and said they just solder a new usb port after removing the old one. The repairs were done well and in a timely fashion and my phone is back to working completely (quick charge and all). The staff were friendly and answered all my questions no problem.

Amazing service and quality! My cell phone's software was corrupted, took it to Samsung and they quoted me $300-$400 to fix. Thought I was going to have to buy a new phone. Took it here and the guys there fixed it perfectly and it only cost me $30! I am so grateful, thanks so much! He also fixed my husband's phone which we thought was a write off too. Definitely recommend, this guy is a genius!

I have to say that I'm impressed and very happy with the work done by Stellar Cellular on my phone, as well as their general service.
I've been there twice for my Nexus 6P : a battery replacement, a back camera replacement. Both time they've done an amazing job super fast (30mn) and super cheap ($50 parts and labour), plus they gave me a fabulous deal on the Macbook Pro I'm typing this (that I wont tell here to not make anyone jealous ;) )
So, in a nutshell, if you have a problem with your phone, tablet, laptop, bring it to them, they're amazing !

Richard was great. No B.S. Good place to have your phone fixed or buy a replacement.

Took my phone in and it was a super easy and quick process. I have been here several times and it is always very efficient and the price is fair. He also put on a speck phone case for free because he didn't want me walking out without a case on my phone. Highly recommend!!

Thought I had damaged my power button. Went into Stellar and the employee said to come back in an hour and it would be fixed. Turns out it wasn't damaged and he did not charge me anything. Great experience and will definitely return for future needs.

WORST customer and technical service I have received in MY LIFE. I cannot believe such scams get approval to work. The service couldn't be more terrible.
I had a screen to replace, and I had to visit the store 4 TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR. Each time, the screen failed a few hours after repair. Not only the store owner, Rich, didn't fix our phone, he damaged the front camera and volume buttons. Even if he offers to fix my phone, I wouldn't go back because I don't want the rest of the phone damaged!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM!

Reasons for seriously weird vibes confirmed when location where I left my phone to be repaired closed mysteriously and without warning overnight. Left phone at Bloor St location on a Friday to have a stuck SIM card removed; finally was able to retrieve phone from College location on Wednesday and it appears they never even looked at it. Email went unanswered and not once did they contact me to let me know what was going on. So grateful to have it back and (it seems) untampered with (still have small fear new repair geniuses at iRepair are going to tell me Stellar broke something). Going out of business in progress, no doubt - would not recommend anything be left in their possession.

Staff was very friendly and kind. I needed to repair my iPhone screen and I wanted to ensure it would be done with the right materials, and done properly, and they reassured me, showed me the materials, and told me some defects my phone had along the way. They were speedy and pleasant, I will definitely come back here if I have iPhone issues again!

Never had a problem until today. Guy charged my credit card then told me to come back with cash after the fact my cake was approved.

These guys really know what they are doing...Finally. I went to 3 stores that did not really know how to fix a truly broken phone....I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I destroyed my LCD and these gruff guys wound up charging me almost $200 to fix it. There was no 30 minute turnaround, either - I had to wait like 3 days for the phone to get fixed. I've asked around and the part they had to order is really cheap and comes from China. This whole thing should definitely have not cost even 50% of what these guys charged. I believe that they prey on people who need their phones fixed in a rush and there is isn't enough competition in the city to drive the price down to a reasonable level.

Lesson learned: I should have taken the phone to the suburbs because these guys love to hose people! I will NEVER go there again.

I took in his iPhone 4, for a screen replacement.
They never told me they would be replacing the screen with a cheaper screen.
They charged him $70+tx for this.
Then my GSM started acting wonky and losing reception.
When I took it in 2-days later, they refused to look at and pointed blame to me and Apple.

I paid $77 now and my iPhone doesn't work anymore like it did.

BUYER BEWARE.

They fixed both of my phones so quickly and for so little money and were so nice to me considering I was in a bit of a state about my phone situation. :D Good stuff.

Went in and the first thing I noticed is the strong yet nice hipster smell from what it seems to be candles. Talked to the guys about the problem I was having with my phone. They told me how much would cost me to fix. And it would take about an hour. Plain and simple. Also they were the cheapest option around and the fastest.

The worst experience of my life. I took a fully functioning iPad with a cracked screen to Stellar Cellular on College for a screen repair, based on a personal recommendation. After THREE repairs, I kept having major issues: the screen was separating from the case, it was turning itself off at random, and phantom touch points were being activated when I wasn't even touching it. Richard, the only person ever at the store, promised me a replacement device if they couldn't fix it, then promptly told me his boss got mad and asked me not to complain because he would lose his job over this. He told me he would personally replace my iPad for me. They have refunded me the cost of the "repair" but after two months, I now have a completely unusable device and his response was that I should try another store to see if maybe they can fix it. They have now completely stopped responding to messages. Further, I now found out that he and his wife are the owners, so there is no other owner and he's been lying to me the whole time. Do not take your business there! A very costly mistake and there's nothing I can do unless I go to court. Also, very rude and arrogant.

I've been going to Stellar Cellular for years now. Have bought phones, repaired phones, bought cases and screen protectors...I have never had any problems or concerns with Richard and his crew. Excellent service, amazing prices and turnaround time!

I had a problem with my phone that ended up not being able to be fixed. The staff here were really nice and spent the day trying various things to fix my phone. When it turned out it was a lost cause, they didn't charge me anything even though I probably owe them at least an hour of labour. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone that needs their phone fixed.
