The restaurant is modern and really cool, it is possible to have a cocktail at the bar waiting for the table, the central room is beautiful and the side rooms are not bad. Good food for the American style, with decidedly high prices for the Italian who goes to the States but medium-high for the average in NY

The food was tasty but the portion are small. Its a great place to come to for a celebration because the dessert are delicious and prepared beautifully.
In November 2017 I provided a lengthy explanation on trip advisor as to why I'd recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs. I was offered and gratefully accepted a voucher by way of apology that never arrived, I have been trying to follow this up for two years.
All this proves is that the service within the company is as inconsistent as within the restaurant itself. Last month I'd reconnected with the Director of Restaurants in advance of what I hoped would be a better visit next month. I asked again for the gift voucher and to confirm a reservation. I have had no response from him since.
It's best not to apologise at all rather than a disingenuous attempt to placate another dissatisfied customer.
Presentation was amazing, food is just mediocre. Service top notch, atmosphere 4/5. Too pricy for what it is: fusion Asian food which is just worse than authentic.
I must say . The service is by far the best I have ever seen in NYC ... They pay so much attention to there customers. I was blown away by there detailing and hospitality. If your reading this..... Just go ... Words can't describe there service ... It's 100% excellent
We had a large party of 11 - family style dining with the tasting course chosen. We has a few allergy needs within our group as well - the staff, waiter, and chef were quick to draw up special dishes for those that couldnt partake in the normal courses served. Decour was warm and inviting. Fantastic food- I especially enjoyed the chilled noodles, the fillet was served perfect, and their bananas foster cheese cake was amazing! Would highly recommend this restaurant.
We went here for a birthday celebration we were amazed by the inside decor and the food quality was decent. It s on the pricey end and the service is ok also due to pandemic they can only accommodate 10 ppl per table. The ambiance is a bit dim for my liking.
Trendy, hip place exactly as you'd expect. However, the food is also great. A great place to come for nearly any reason.. special night, hungry, guests, date, etc. - can't go wrong.
The cauliflour lollipops are amazing....a must-order.
Great experience, staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is great as long as your not a picky eater. If you are they will try their best to put stuff on the side if you want.
Had a lovely meal for a friend's farewell dinner. The appetizers were delicious especially the carrot dumpling. Had the whole fish, crab fried rice and cauliflower perfect combination. The server was super nice and let us linger for a few before it got too busy...perfect for late Sunday bunch. I went to the restroom and the large dining area (closed of course) was stunning. Great time and highly recommended
Discreet entry leads to a large host desk and into a dim-lit lounge where you can grab a drink at the bar or order from a waitress while you wait for company to arrive. It's high energy and lavish decor with high ceilings, massive chandeliers, and romantic lighting. Note, I found the stairs slightly steeper than the norm, especially since I was in heels. Although it does have the "dark, sexy" vibe as you walk down -haha. So Ladies, take your sexy time walking up and down ;)
We were a party of 9 and dined in the library room, which I found quieter than other rooms we walked through. Service was amazing, amazing, AMAZING! Truly attentive and flexible to accommodate my dietary needs. We ended up going with one of their pre-fix menus and it did not disappoint (as I gathered from my meat-eating friends :P ). The vegetarian/ vegan substitutes for the items on the pre-fix were delicious, although I do wish the food was served warmer.
My meal included: edamame and carrot dumplings, chilled udon noodles, wok charred broccoli, spiced eggplant & tofu (not spicy imo), ... a few others I can't recall. The only dish I wasn't a fan of, and that's because I don't like the taste of "smoked," was the smoked tofu. Otherwise, everything was DELICIOUS!
Drinks: I had a Dark & Stormy (yes, they have ginger beer!) and red wine with dinner.
For dessert, the Crying Chocolate was incredible!! I'd go back just for that! :)
I wish I could give this restaurant no stars but I ll give them 1 star for the ambience. First let me start by saying that I made a reservation at 5pm for 8:30pm reservation FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I arrived with my boyfriend at 8:20 as we arrived one of the assistant managers Nada told me that they were still seating the 8 o clock reservations and that she knew it was my birthday celebration and then asked if it s ok to wait by the bar area where everyone normally waits to get seated at their tables. We ordered two glasses of wine and started making conversation with my boyfriend. At 9pm I went back to Nada and she gave me another excuse with OH WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ARE NOW ON OUR 8:15pm RESERVATIONS AND YOU HAVE 4 COUPLES AHEAD OF YOU. I went back to my boyfriend to deliver the message but starting to get annoyed. Then returning back to the bar the guy who was serving me was a Spanish guy but the Asian bartender was making jokes about me elbowing the bartender serving me and telling him jokes in his ear about me and telling him BRO YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS BACK!! HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT ME AND MY BOYFRIEND TO OUR FACE and make me feel like I was less than you. THE NERVE OF THIS ASIAN BARTENDER. I myself would ve done something beyond disrespectful and throw him my drink but I asked to speak with the manager. They brought me NADA but she was already annoying me with the excuses so I requested another manager and that s when Martin arrived. I explained to him the situation and he did NOT care about it AT ALL. He just gave me a BS excuse and walked away. Situations like this SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN AND PEOPLE LIKE THAT ASIAN BARTENDER SHOULDN T WORK IN RESTAURANTS IN NYC KNOWING THEY ARE THEIR TO RESPECT AND SERVE US. I carry myself very conservative and well mannered. I WONT EVER BE GOING TO THIS PLACE. So Mark then came to me and said my table was ready at 10:15pm when the restaurant was almost empty I am one to not like eating after 9pm because of my gastro reflect issues with my stomach. This was seriously so unprofessional and disgusting and disrespectful for me to be treated this way. I almost started crying but didn t want my boyfriend to know why I was sad and upset. I will NEVER return to this place ever again by the way the food was not worth the money. I ordered the lobster and shrimp noodles it wasn t all that it looked like a plate worth 15.00 from your corner Chinese restaurant. The wine was good and the tuna rolls were good as well. My boyfriend then told the waitress it was my birthday and she brought out a little treat which I wasn t in the mood because of the way they treated me. Two hours passed and I was the bathroom with stomach pain and nausea due to my gastro reflect issues all because of their dishonesty and preferences. Sadly I liked this place so much BUT I WONT EVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE AGAIN.
I've heard a lot about Buddakan and was super excited to try it out. Buddakan has an absolutely gorgeous Asian-inspired, modern interior and is one of the biggest restaurants I've ever been in. The restaurant is sectioned off so you won't feel lost inside and you still get an intimate restaurant vibe. It's a great, dark space and truly creates a dining experience.
We ate the in The Library for a business event and since we were a large group, we ordered to share from a fixed menu so I got to sample a lot of the menu. The short rib really stood out as my favorite dish and the desserts sampler was amazing as well. I definitely want to go back and think this would be a great place to take NYC visitors.
As far as modern/Asian-fusion goes, I thought this place had better food than Hakkasan and Tao (the uptown one...haven't tried downtown yet).
+ Do get the short rib. It's simply amazing. + Do take visitors.
Delicious snacks! We like it here. The restaurant is really lively, so we booked it in advance, which is definitely a good idea. We love the cocktails here 100% worth trying - try the lobster rolls again, great! The service is also very good, our waiters are very good, everything is great! We will come back next time in New York.
A lot of people really like this restaurant. It is very hip and trendy, and I think they filmed a segment of the movie Sex and the City here. I ordered a lot of tapas, and for the most part they were very good. The service was good, but I it wasn't one of my favorite places mainly because it is soooo loud there. It's one of those places where you have to speak at a very high decibel level or shout to have a conversation, and when I'm at dinner I just don't enjoy that very much.
The food and the presentation was exquisite. We ordered only from the Tapas menu and enjoyed everything. The appetizers we ordered included the oxtail dumplings, lobster egg rolls, short rib and scallion pancake, and chili rock shrimp. We also ordered the sizzling short rib, charred filet of beef, mongolian lamb chops, and lobster fried rice. We enjoyed every bite. In the end, our bill was around $850 after tip for all the drinks and food for 12 people. Not too bad for a great experience!
I was here for a StyleCaster event for Fashion Week, so I can't review the food. The ambiance here is very beautiful with a bar in the front and lots of dining table space downstairs with a very high ceiling. The wifi was great. And the bathrooms were dimly lit with music. The staff here was also very friendly. The prices for the food, such as dim sum start around the teens, which is definitely on the expensive end. I would give it a try, say during Restaurant Week to see if the food matches the ambiance and worthy of the price.
I've been here twice and it was because my friends' wanted to go for their birthdays which means my treat and they order some of the most expensive things on the menu. At $40 p/person after tips (not including alcohol), I can tell you it was not worth it. I mean how can a restaurant charge $15 for small scallion pancakes ($1-$4 in Chinatown) or $40 for duck ($15-$20 in Chinatown) that doesn't even taste that good?
The reason for 2 star is because the food is not $40 per person good. This is probably one of those restaurants that consider themselves "high end" but the fact of the matter is that you'll find its no "high end" material. Certainly better than other high end places "western counterparts" I've been to for food but not for service.
A hole in the wall place like 69 Bayard St or even a nice restaurant like Dong Lai judging by it's food is what you would call $40 per person good compared this this joke.
We had dinner at this restaurant, and it was beyond the most pleasant dining experience we ve ever had. The service was beyond what was to be expected. All the servers were on point when it came to their attitude, and you really could tell they were proud to serve that food. We will come back and recommend the place to my friends and relatives!
This place offers amazing ambience, food and cocktails. Energetic vibes, professional staff .. make reservations and insist on a table at the main dining hall. Oxtail dumpling are amazing!!
Simply magnificent! Period. Go! High end Asian cuisine that cannot be beat!!! You will pay for it but sometimes you need more than a meal.....you need an experience!
Amazing consistent nouveau chinese food. Definitely recommend any of the dim sum appetizers (General Tso Dumplings are excellent) and lobster fried rice. Can be hard to get a reservation, though usually easy to snag a walk-in table near the bar area (or take over one of the large square tables if you have a large group coming in).
asian food and the atmosphere at this location is great. Great hospitality. Really nothing but good experiences here. Prices that won't shock you. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.
Awful service. We made our reservation for 2 at 10 pm. We waited until 11pm. Rude manners. Loud music, placed in a tinny space between two other couples. Too expensive for the quality of the food
This restaurant exceeded my expectations! From the seating to the ambiance. Everything was top notch. The dim lighting sets the mood for romantic evening even if you re having lunch haha! My fav dish is definitely the Cod! It melts in your mouth and it is so savory. If you re ever in Manhattan, this should be on your list.
Edamame Dumplings. Is there anything tastes even more terrible than this dish? The vibe is perfect. The table with melted candles reminds me of the dining room described in Harry Potter. However, the food does not meet my expectation at all. The fish has a bitter flavor and the Steamed Vermicelli Roll is totally a wrapped sushi rather than the traditional Hong Kong version. Edamame Dumplings was recommended by the waitress but it was a nightmare. Please do not tell me it is Chinese food or Asian food. The chef definitely went to a lot of Asian countries but only learned Asian cooking skill in a very short period of time and tried tooooooo hard to innovate.
Large and fabulous place for a delicious dinner, service was very professional but would still joke and smile which I though was cool and made the place hip rather than fancy.
It's a shame that this restaurant it's not what it used to be. Service got worst, it's seems that there is confusion or miss communication between waiters. Decent food but for the price look somewhere else...
One of my favorite places to take family and friends visiting from out of town. Food is amazing as are the cocktails. Try to get a seat in the main dining room.
Hands down one of the best places I have been to. The food is delicious and I recommend you buy an assortment of appetizers as you will get a rich set of flavors.
Great for a group and it s a really cool ambience. TsingTao beer is always great. Food is really delicious but for the money there are far better FOODIE restaurants. But as an overall experience or for a group, this place is great.
Outstanding food, beautiful decor, good music, and great service! My favorite NYC restaurant! General Tsao s dumplings, chili rock shrimp and tea smoked spare ribs are must tries!!
