not as good as they think they are, room service was poor, didnt get our breakfast in bed, no robes or slippers, someones sock and an empty box of tissues were left in one of the bedside cabinets one mug had a crack and was leaking no hand soup in dispenser, basically every time we had to ask for everything missing, but in general was a nice stay, a good indoor pool, gym, sauna, restaurant.

Stayed here for 5 days with our dog. Room was so nice and comfortable, staff were really attentive even though they were very busy with a full hotel. Great location, we will be back. Thanks all!

The staff were excellent. A very warm welcome from all staff. I felt such a warm welcome, I decided to stay for dinner, even though it was a little more than I would normally pay on a business trip. Mushroom soup was astonishingly tasty. The lamb was mediocre and the accompanying potstoes were poor. The Bakewell inspired dessert was a stodgy brick with a bit of cream and jam. So, should have been 5 stars but the staff were let down by poor potatoes and a stodgy brick!

Stayed there for a works do and had the use of all their facilities - gym, pool, jacuzzi & Bar Accommodation was very nice although a little compact. Had a great time there and would stay again.

A little expensive but an amazing venue with super helpful staff. We were there for a wedding. The 9nly downside having had 2 rooms is you can get varying value for money. We were in the captains quarters and room 5 was small but room 1 was perfect. The spa was also a great addition. Chris who did the bar after the wedding was amazing and extremely accommodating :)

The new beach house is lovely, great attention to detail. Except at night the green light that lights up your room. If it weren't for the lack of sleep caused by that, the room would be 5/5. The reception staff gave the wrong time for breakfast as on new years day it was running later than normal (midday) but the staff were all very friendly especially Nigel in the restaurant. Fab location right by the sea.

Booked a room for a spa night but unfortunately the spa was fully booked.
We we stayed in a room above the kitchen and were woken up by a really loud humming machine at 5:30am and i couldnt sleep with the noise.
Room was nicely decorated but were expecting more for the money we spent. Also, upstairs were noisey at night which kept me awake, but not my partner.

Really nice hotel and spa, would have given 5 stars but currently loads of work so lots on banging, workmen everywhere and no outside seating area. Spa is great, nice swimming pool, sauna and steamroom (thst actually kicks out loads of steam). Services was great, breakfast buffet good quality with a good selection. Not sure if the sea theme is to my liking but that's just personal taste and didn't spoil the stay. Would highly recommend once the building work is complete.

Stayed there six times in 2017-18 so they must be doing something right! Great location and has the potential to be better than it is. The whole of 2017-18 the hotel was trying to keep on going whilst massive new building works were going More

Came here for my birthday in 2018, friendly staff, good food, although service was slow. The only disappointing thing was the hydrotherapy pool, should have been a salt pool instead of chlorine. Loved the Cornish sea salt stream room.

A+

Lovely, relaxing spa day. We booked the twilight deal to celebrate our friends' anniversary. Facilities and amenities at the spa were 5 star, and staff were very welcoming and friendly! COVID safety was very well managed and explained.
The reason for the 3 stars was because the food was not that great, both the mains and desserts were disappointing. The curry we ordered was tasteless, tasted as if it had been watered down, with no flavours of 'sweet or sour' as decribed. Service was slow, we had to remind the waiters 3 times for our sides that finally arrived after we had eaten our mains. However, lovely staff and atmosphere, Anna our server was lovely. Shame about the food experience as spa was fantastic - Definitely recommend the spa!

Had the most amazing stay in a gorgeous south facing room.
Our room overlooked Gyllyngvase Beach and had a terrace, so we could sip our morning coffee listening and watching the waves.
Huge room well decorated and immaculate. Huge bed and bathroom.

A lovely clean hotel, very friendly and efficient staff, the function room works really well especially for wedding receptions, with the bar at one end and DJ and dance floor at the other, with seating in the middle. It's just one of those venues that works really well, highly recommended.

The good:

The good:
Near the beach just a few mins walk away.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Bathrooms have excellent showers both rain & handheld.

The bad:
The photos on their website advertising the rooms are deceiving, it was way smaller. Infact we as a family of four felt cramped.
Waiting to be served breakfast is longer than what I would have expected but each to their own.
There are construction works that blocked our seaview but was assured by staff prior to booking, we will not be affected by it.
Parking your car in the evening is hard as it's always full.

Stayed at St. Michaels 5 or 6 times over the last 20 years. Always look forward to the stay. The setting is wonderful. Just been modernised . Think my wife and I will be coming here for the next 20 years. What a delight!

This spa hotel & restaurant experience was really excellent, mostly i credit the friendly, helpful staff, that made our stay so wonderful! We want to thank Francesca, Hannah, Alex, Ben, Poppy, Deanna (massage) & Hope (spa) and all the kitchen & restaurant staff and the cleaners who left our room immaculate! You fitted us in last minute & made us feel at home with our 1 year old daughter! The food was delicious & beautifully presented & value for money. The selection of food & wine was excellent. The breakfast team were also superb. Had a gorgeous massage and enjoyed the immaculate spa. Covid regulations were also excellently facilitated. Congratulations to all the wonderful staff. 5 stars!

Very poor experience. We stayed at St Michaels Hotel about 2 years ago and had a great time, unfortunately our most recent experience was not the same!

1. Check-in: On check-in, it took nearly half an hour to get shown to our room. After a lengthy process at the desk, we were then told that a member of staff would be down with us shortly to show us to our room. We sat down in the waiting area and sure enough a member of staff soon came down, however, instead of showing us to our room he proceeded to check more people in and then show them to there room. We waited, and waited whilst watching more people go by and also seeing the guy that checked us in just wonder past us several times oblivious to us just sitting there! Eventually a manager came along, seen that we weren't too pleased and then eventually showed us to our room. As an apology she promised us a bottle of prosecco for our meal that evening.

2. Swim time: On booking your room and stay, you are promised full use of the pool and spa facilities. Sadly, this is not true. We went to use the pool shortly after being shown to our room, on arriving at the reception desk for the pool we were told that we could not go in as it was too busy and they were operating a "1 in 1 out" system.... no good for a couple that want to spend time together. Very poor, and basically useless as we only had a limited time slot we could use the pool. Why should paying hotel guests have to be rejected?!

3. Meal time: At least we get our promised bottle of prosecco.... oh wait, no we don't. Starters, mains and deserts came and went and no sign of the promised bottle of prosecco.

All in all, a poor, poor experience. What a shame as we really enjoyed it two years ago.

Lovely hotel, nice luxurious feel. Delicious food. I'm a regular user of the health club. Great swimming pool, nice size. Friendly staff. Lockers could do with looking at several faulty/rusty ones in the swimming pool changing rooms. All round brilliant.

Fabulous food in the Flying Fish restaurant. Pool and gym are first class. Great for exploring West Cornwall as a base.
I know its generally a mild climate in Cornwall but we arrived in 2 to 4 degrees (there was a frost in the ground along the coast path) and the lounge/restaurant was cold. Reception area was also cold. Otherwise would get 5*

Room was less than mediocre with a lot of damp and hardly enough space to swing a cat (king size apparently) number 24, avoid. Staff however were lovely and couldn't do enough to help, especially Chris on reception. Enjoyed the spa and food was very good. However bar service was very poor and more staff are needed to cover busy times.

Fabulous spa day. Great facilities with friendly staff. The only thing that let the spar deal down was the two course lunch. Not much on offer and half that was on there they wasn't serving. However it was tasty but I would never combine the lunch deal in again. Not worth the extra money. Shame as everything else was amazing

I booked a spa day for my friends 30th birthday. We ended up being very late to our appointment due to a car flat battery and the spa staff were incredibly accomodating to us, were even able to fit our massages in later in the day. The whole spa is beautiful and very clean, with a range of hydrothermal pools and steam rooms. Would 100% recommend and will be back for sure!

A wonderful hotel - my stay here was superb. The hotel and the room itself are relaxing, cosy and comfortable but what really makes it are the people. At arrival I was checked in swiftly and shown to my room and from then on the staff were 10/10. Big shout out to Rowenna, the maintenance man Chris who was extremely helpful giving me some tips, the two bar girls who were super friendly and the porter Lewis who was an absolute star. The ladies at breakfast were also fab and nothing was too much trouble and oh the breakfast - yummy! Well done to the whole team. Smashed it, I ll be back for sure.

Very state of the art gym. Tried one of the classes called Barre.. It was hard going but very enjoyable and we had a nice lady teaching us the moves.. The swimming pool is very delightful as is the steam room and sauna... However there is not a lift to the lower level (gym) which makes it difficult for the disabled as there are many stairs! Overall a very nice place to visit followed by a coffee or snack in the restaurant... Staff very pleasant and helpful

Disappointed that we weren't pre-warned about building work being carried out at the time of our stay. Sat in the hot tub outside whilst a huge crane was in use. Staff gave wrong information regarding deposits etc but this was eventually put right. Nice food and decent breakfast so planning to go back at some point.

We booked online and arrived at the hotel to find major building works were happening, which were not advertised prior to booking. As soon as we expressed our concerns to the reception staff they changed our allocated room to one away from the potential building noise. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the rooms and facilities were very good. We enjoyed our stay despite the ongoing works and wouldn't hesitate to come back again in the future once the build was complete.

Rude staff, dirty spa facilities.

Rude staff, dirty spa facilities.

Sarah in the pool is rude and has a terrible attitude. They close the pool for classes but don't tell you that when you pay at the door and they don't put signs up to inform you. This place had potential but it's let down by bad management and rude staff. I'll stick to my spas in London in future.

An absolutely stunning hotel. My husband surprised me with a 3 night stay here for our 2nd anniversary and it was delightful. The food is delicious. The dining area overlooks the ocean with some breathtaking views. The town is a short walk away so it's a great hotel to explore the area. An easy 5 star rating from us!

As the weather was so horrible we phoned on the day and were able to be fitted in for afternoon tea and use of the spa. Really enjoyed the pool, saunas and outside jacuzzi. Hotel looked lovely too very clean lines and modern. Staff were great and changing rooms had great facilities including shower wash, shampoo, moisturiser etc. Would definitely go again
