So glad the renovation was finished- now all of the rooms have a fresh, clean look- absolutely beautiful. Hotel has a tradition of great service and they pride themselves on it. Limited inhouse food outlets but you won't miss it because of it's location in Union Square.

Had a regular room in this historic hotel, but enjoyed less lighting in the room as desired since it s too close to the adjacent building. Location is perfect, facing the Union Square and surrounded by San Fransisco s upscale shopping malls and boutique stores. Also has a magnificent look.

Went yo thr cocktail lounge here, and the bartender shook and performed his drink making! I filmed it, it was fun, he made a delicious strawberry gimlet, which I had never tasted, it was delicious! Then we went back to Union Square.

I attended a professional event so I only saw the lobby and meeting space. Beautiful lobby with upgraded amenities. The building is wonderful to look at and the inside decoration give you an upscale feeling.

An old, well-appointed hotel with a gorgeous lobby that has a bar, cafe, restaurants, and shops that include Victoria's Secret. Very fancy and upscale in the perfect part of town if you're a tourist. But once you get past the elevator and into the hallways, you start to see the old, tired hotel. The rooms are clean and have great furniture, but the walls and doors show their age. We stayed in a very small room. Parking is EXPENSIVE! Two blocks away (not even that) is a parking garage that charges almost half that for 24 hour parking. Park there and walk to the hotel.

I have never given this low of a score to a hotel before. To be honest, the hotel itself is really nice. It's just the neighborhood around that's really scary. You can't go more than a few steps before getting accosted by homeless. Had four approached me while I was eating my dinner, one even laid hands on me. Stay someplace else. Too bad, the hotel itself was super nice.

We stayed at the Westin St Francis during the employee strike. We were there for 3 nights and had to do with the same towels and no room cleaning for the full time of our stay. We paid a high price for no service. No discounts offered for the lack of facilities.
The hotel is a fabulous icon in Union Square but our stay was not the best because of the constant noise from the strikers.
We were abused going in and out of the hotel.
Management knew this was coming as our server for breakfast was the wife of one of the executive team who told us that so it boiled down to Marriott making sure they didn t tell anyone because they would lose money.
We were told we would get 500 Marriott points per day for the inconvenience. Have not received them.
We have stayed here twice now but not sure we want to come back.

The Westin is a classic San Francisco hotel in the heart of Union Square. The newly renovated ballrooms make this a historic property and must see for meeting spaces. An excellent value.

Great location in the union square area. Lots of food option at a walking distance. Almost always a pricier option but the price justifies the location benefit. If you are a Marriott elite status holder then be ready to be disappointed . They don't have concierge lounge in this sprawling building, that's why 3 stars. Atmosphere is cozy and I didn't hear street traffic noise in the room.

Did not stay here, but used the hotel's conference rooms. Old, beautiful hotel. Yet the remodeling was a bit dated. Great views of Union Square. Perfect location if you are wanting to be in the heart of SF's financial district.

What a joy back into time without giving up the comforts. The local is truly the best..Right there into Unon Square..Leave the hotel into it. The locals to local restaurants without a taxi. Hotel offer a excellent tiem at the lobby bar..Get there early to avoid the wait.

I love this hotel. I've come here for business reasons to their conference room spaces, which are excellent. I've also stayed here for personal reasons. Service is top notch, and the location cannot be beat... overlooking Union Square. Love it.

We went to the Westin St. Francis to visit our friends and wound up in a different wing from where we've stayed before. The rooms have all been updated to give it a more modern feel, which is much better than the old look. Most 3 and 4 star hotels around Union Square have that old Hotel California feel from American Horror Story, so this is a great remodel.

Great service. Shower was a little tough to use and rooms look out right into the next building over. No real views. Overall good experience since the hotel is so close to everything downtown.

If you re staying downtown San Fran then this is your spot! The staff is extremely helpful & the historic hotel is worth seeing. Definitely recommend exploring the hotel to see all of its character. Great views from the elevator too!

I so appreciate the big beautiful rooms and the beautiful views from my room in the new wing on the 18th Floor. The hotel is filled with great stories and beautiful treasures from the "archive". The location is fantastic and the service consistent, friendly and helpful. My only pressure point is the check in and check out. I wish these could be faster. It is an honour to stay in a hotel that is filled with so much amazing history.

Once again, bummed out by this property. The location is great, but I ll not stay here again. For instance, the valet staff always takes an exceedingly long time to take the car. Given that the garage is quite noisy, this is an unpleasant experience. The front desk nearly always has a back up. Today, with a reservation for a suite, the clerk took nearly 20 minutes to check us in and the room is not a suite. Desired to finish up some work upon entering the room, and can t get on the WiFi because somehow after all of this we are not checked in. The room is clean.

Make sure you get a room in the tower. They are 'slightly' more upgraded and I use that word generously. Service was good. No club lounge for platinum members but your standard breakfast or points option is available at check in. Location is central in the shopping district of SF. Try to get a high floor too (28+)...it'll minimize the room noise coming from the square.

Hotel is in heart of San fran. Pretty view and convenient location. Only issue was our hot water didn't work the first night! Cold showers yikes! But they called somebody and fixed it right away.

I've stayed on Union Square multiple times but this was my first time at The Westin. The location is great! Close to all of the shops and perfect for getting on the cable cars. We arrived early and they were able to get us right into a room. Room was extremely clean, beds were really comfortable. The wifi worked great, which was awesome because I was traveling with two teenagers. All of the staff was amazing! So helpful, so friendly and prompt with our luggage and car. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again.

Elegant and stately well located on Union Square. Excellent service. Comfortable rooms with luxuriant beds. Crowded lobby coffee shop too small for the hotel. Fast efficient room service with hot well prepared food.

We came here to see the sugar castles. The hotel was as nice and classy as we remembered and we enjoyed the historical photographs. My kids' favorite part was riding the elevators. Surprised that Michael mina appeared to be permanently closed.

Great views and everything you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber (clean, very comfortable beds, all the amenities, etc.), but the customer service let us down. Obviously, things happen, but partly due to a technical failure, there was an extremely long line to check in, and even after we checked in after the 3 PM check in time, they informed us that our room wouldn't be ready for some time due to "high turnover", but they would be sure to text us as soon as it was available. Checked in with them half an hour later, and our room was ready by then, they just hadn't gotten around to texting us yet. Wow. And no offer to upgrade or discount or comp us a drink or anything for all of our troubles. A solid 4-star experience, but no more, unfortunately.
