The best way to see the Chinese new years parade! Great location and worth the price.
Hotel stay/room (11/2019): Fantastic and gorgeous. Excellent customer service. Only aspect that could use improvement is the incredibly slow WiFi.
Event space: Imperial Room on the top floor of The Westin Tower. Views from the Imperial Room.
it is you stereotypical 4 star historical hotel. solid gym, good rooms, and over priced cafe.
We were on a 1 year motorcycle trip across the USA, and found ourselves captivated by Sonoma hospital;its. Went to Santa Rosa to get a marriage license and married my best fried at Bartholomew Park Winery. Decided to treat ourselves to a honeymoon here @ The Westin. When we checked in I mentioned we just got married a few hours ago, and the front desk made every effort to find us an upgraded room from the one we booked. We ended up in a Suite on the 31st floor at a rate that was less then 1/2 the advertised price. What a great place, great staff, great views, everything was excellent. Except the parking fee, $50/night for a motorcycle. Oh well, It is what it is. We will be back
Decorated very nicely for the holidays!! Huge rotating castles, elf cutouts, and more. Great history! Wonderful place to host a group.
Came here for a conference. Good hall space and surprised internet held up!
Stayed here once for a conference. Really convenient to be in the middle of the city. The room was nice and quiet. Not necessarily large, but nicely equipped. On the expensive side, I won't lie. Was not able to try out the hotel restaurants. But a short walk to Mpscone center.
Superb location, very good standard and helpful staff.
Great location, rooms are clean and lobby is nice. One half of the hotel is a little dated but overall a great place to stay. There's a cable car stop right outside so easy to get around and hit tourist spots.
Great service and room. The gym is very large with new equipment
Nice enough. Elevators being broken, leaving no way to get to your room.....could have done without that!
This is located in Union Square, and a very historical building. Rooms are good sized with walk in shower. Wifi available across the whole hotel. Gym is very large with more than ten running treadmill machines. Parking is located in the hotel with valet service
I'm on the 2nd to last day of my stay here, and I was hoping some of the things that were bothering me would get better:
- I constantly have to re connect to the wifi with my last name and room number (probably every 30 mins or so).
- The shower has no water pressure. It literally just drizzles out of the shower head.
- The shower water has randomly turned cold twice while using it.
- The water coming out of the sink faucet just randomly turned yellow on me while I was brushing my teeth. WTF?!?!
- When I tried to ask the concierge for some dinner suggestions after arriving on my first night, before I could even tell him what I was looking for he simply started listing one place on each side of the block the hotel was on. Not the most useful information...
Some minor things that are also annoying:
- The toilet paper dispenser is basically behind the toilet. You have to turn around to reach it.
- The 'do not disturb' notice falls off the door knob every time I open the door.
- You have to choose your floor before getting in the elevator. Maybe there is a good reason for this one, but it was confusing.
If I had to guess, no one in charge of this place has ever set foot inside of the rooms, let alone tried staying a night here.
I'll admit the yellow water was the last straw for me. I'm here for a work event and can confidently say I'll never stay here again, and probably not at any Westin as long as I have a choice. "4-star hotel"? Sure, you can tell yourself that, but at this price point I expect A LOT more.
Booked a room well in advance for the day after Thanksgiving this year. To start, the hotel didn't bother to notify guests to plan ahead for street closures nor did they come clean to tell guests that their staff would be on strike. Minimizing risk of cancellations I suppose. Profit over customer experience. It took over 2 hours to get close enough to the hotel to walk (thanks to a kind SFPD officer who found me a spot and who also said hotels should be notifying guests of the street closures). I had to walk back though (about
3 blocks) after the tree lighting to get my car to bring over to the hotel. Once checked in, we learned that there was no room service because of the strike. Not fun with a hungry 6 and 9 year old. I went down to the lobby cafe to try to find something for the kids and maybe Irish Coffees for me and my equally frustrated wife. I got in line and waited for about 15 minutes. A second line had started to form shortly after I got in line to my left but I thought that was just for the desserts and pastries. When I got to the cashier she told me that I now had to get in the other line to order which had now grown about 7
-8 people deep. I threw my hands up and left. My wife tried again later with better luck, albeit a long wait but she had to explain to them how to make an Irish Coffee. Oh and by the way, the striking staff was banging drums till about 10pm, kicking off again at 7
am. I was so frustrated I uncharacteristically tweeted my frustration. To their credit they messaged me and told me staff would contact me. I was just going through my DMs and saw that message. It's Christmas. No one's contacted me. Disappointed in this place. It was becoming a regular spot for the holidays for us...until this year.
Very good location, good service, tv includes youtube, Netflix, etc
Walk past the reception, make a left and ride the glass elevator for the best views overlooking the bay. Then hit the Clock Bar for an inventive cocktail try the Hawaii 5.1.
Old tower is really gross, new tower is pretty nice. Workout center is one of the best I've seen in a hotel. Front desk always has a line. Located in a touristy area.
Very Good Hotel with great staff & Excellent Location, Close to Cable Car, Tourist Buses, Good Restaurants, Macy's, Bloomingdales,Louis Vuitton,Neiman Marcus, Dolce & Gabbana And Many More Famous Lables Stores,Plus Fantastic Union Square.
