One of the best historically perserved hotels in the Marriott SPG line. A favorite of mine always when visiting San Francisco. Located in the heart of Union square with direct access to shopping and restaurants. A short cable car trip to fisherman's wharf and only 3 blocks from the BART station.

A beautiful, centrally located hotel in San Francisco. The staff are all very professional and accommodating. You're within walking distance of much of downtown, so you won't be spending much time in the room; the room, though, it's modern, clean, and comfortable.
Beautiful old hotel on Union Square that has been maintained in a superb manner. Highly recommend seeing it in visiting. I didn't stay in any of the rooms so can't speak to them.
Very clean, updated hotel with a significant history. Its location is hard to beat. The lobby is beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
I usually stay at this grande dame hotel on Union Square when visiting San Francisco... i was somewhat disappointed at the lobby spaces...gone were the nice shops, the fine dining venue... To the good, the exercise center was great and my corner room in the tower was fine, if a bit poorly laid out. For $500/night I expect more... and, what's with a room service bill of $66.40 for one drink, a clubhouse sandwich and a small pot of coffee? Oh well, perhaps getting sick the first day didn't help ...
Fantastic historic place to stay. No complaints and it is in the heart of the city. Housekeeping is ok, it is still a gem and beautiful place to stay..
Accommodations were nice. Room was clean and service was very kind. Pain in the butt to get in this particular location (driving) , but it's also San Francisco! Stayed here a night while attending a Giants baseball game. Plenty to eat close by within walking distance. Yes, parking is $70+ per day!! That was lame. We have stayed at several Westin properties. This one again was nice, just kinda that standard "fancy" hotel feel. Nice view from our floor on the 29th and my kid loved the elevator that you could see outside while rising.
Great staff, perfect location! No matter what you are in town for shopping, business, eating, sightseeing or even checking out dispensary...its all in walking distance!
The lobby was pretty nice and I took a few pictures with their picture thing. They also have a cool glass elevator that lets you see a great view of downtown.
I stayed for 8 days. The rooms are old and there are few amenities. I did not think that breakfast was on the price. The front desk person was not good enough. I think the location is very good!
Great rooms, fun bar and a great location. We were here for a conference at the Moscone which is a 15 minute walk. Go to the Pinecrest Diner for breakfast a block away, quick and delicious diner experience.
Stayed near christmas during the virus while visting a doctor in the city. They have starbucks open on first floor which was very convenient and nice because its so hard to find food in the city right now. The desk guy helped us get uber eats and upgraded our room because there was few people. It was very clean and nice and cool to see the historic hotel
I don't know about the hotel and its service but the elevators are the coolest thing in this world. We must have gone up and down a dozen times. They have an incredible view of all of union square. Very beautiful and very clean.
Nice hotel, room didn't have a view (didn't pay for it), but it was huge and the bedding was very comfortable. Location at union square is very convenient.
Gym is very sizable for a hotel gym. They have pullup bars, trx, kettlebells, bosu balls, meficine balls, foam rollers and more! I m picky about where I ll workout and I found all their equipment to be very functional.
The front desk staff was very nice and helpful and the room was clean and well kept. My wife and I stayed here for our wedding and we were treated with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. We ate breakfast in the Oak Room one morning and all the food we ordered tasted superb.
Beautiful historic hotel with a great location right in Union Square. There was some confusion at check-in regarding a late check out that I had confirmed by phone prior to the trip, but they once they realized they made a mistake, apologized and compensated us with breakfast at The Oak Room (which was delicious). Stayed in a king deluxe room in the Tower Building on the 16th floor. Room and bathroom was nice, clean, comfortable, and spacious. Only issue with room was that the key reader on the door would take a couple of tries until recognizing the key and allowing access.
Nice room and amazing location. Got a room with union square view in the landmark part of the hotel and it was a great view as advertised. Only problem was that it was a very expensive taste, yet they still gouge on every little thing. (How are hotels still charging for wifi?)
Power went out Phones did not work Elevators did not work Pitch dark, Could not open a window After reaching the lobby through a maze of corridors I found rude!! Checked out immediately ! Will not return Current management has ruined an icon
We met with friends at Clock Bar for after-dinner drinks. To enter the hotel, we had to cross a picket line for the hotel workers on strike; crossing their picket made me uneasy, as I would choose to support their cause, but our friends were at the hotel waiting for us. Clock Bar is rather small in size, and still busy inside, despite the strike going on outside. The cocktails here are usually good, but on this visit it occurred to us that the current bar staff might be filling in for strikers, as the drinks didn't balance well, tasting overly sweet. The hotel itself is a terrific example of old-time San Fransisco, and definitely worth a lobby walkthrough.
Very cool historic hotel. Lobby is lovely. Older rooms don't have many convenient electrical sockets to charge devices. Wifi only worked in half of my room.
The staff are like robots, no personal touch, rude and for the price they charge one would expect a little personal touches. They definitely don't go the extra mile at this place. They really don't care about the guests but they do care about your $$$. I was very desappointed!!
I was fortunate to stay with you for the EllieMae conference. Your staff was amazing. We were well attended, well fed and treated with kindness. Thank you
A5 stars! This hotel was awesome! I never thought their assistance would be this professional despite their very affordable rates. Their crews were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I won't forget to tell all of my colleagues and relatives about this hotel for sure. Cheers to more customers and success in the future.
The location is perfect for a weekend visit to SF, right at Union Square. The hotel is nice, clean, and luxurious and the staff is also nice. Overall, a great place to stay.
This was a nice place to stay. I went during the protests and they upgraded my room to a higher floor where the protests were heard less, it was really thoughtful of them.
Great Location. Since I went to work and attended a congress there, I can not speak of the rooms. But the meeting rooms were great. All very beautiful and clean.
It was incredible how terrible our stay was and no one is getting back to me to discuss it. I have written numerous emails in which the response was someone will get back to me in 5 business days (that was over 2 weeks ago)! I cannot believe that a company of their size and especially being in the hospitality sector, their lack of compassion, lack of understanding, lack of support, lack of........can go on and on.
This was their email:
I am sorry your past stay at our Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square was not the Marriott experience you deserved. I am truly sorry for your experience while staying with us and hope that you will give us the chance to make it right.
I have forwarded your email regarding your personal experience to my colleagues with the hotel's Executive Team, as this is unacceptable. I ask that you please allow three to five business days for a response to this matter.
I appreciate you allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. In the meantime, should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this message.
Mr. Wheeler, again, I truly apologize that your stay experience was not was not the Marriott service standards you are use to.
Do not stay here unless you want to be over charged. Was given a folio upon checkout only to get home and find other duplicate charges. Onsite management is unhelpful
Driving directions to this address send you to the wrong side of the building where you can t check in causing a hellacious and unnecessary circle around Union Square. Poor directions.
Great hotel. Affordable rate, updated accommodations. Very busy hotel, but minimal noise issue from my 12th floor room. Happiest I've been in a downtown SF hotel.
Definitely centrally located in San Francisco, elegant and remodeled. Large but poorly arranged rooms, in my case a closet that is useless but that could be transformed into a mega bathroom. For those arriving by car, BEWARE of the astronomical expense for parking $ 68 per night + taxes. Opposite under Union Square, parking costs $ 36 per day. The thing that bothered me most is that WIFI IS PAID ($ 15), a ridiculous thing for a hotel that would like to be of a high standard especially in a Google city. If I had known that it was paid, I would certainly not have chosen it, I have traveled all over America, even in the most remote hotels in Alaska free Wi-Fi was provided. The devil is in the details
Stayed in a Landmark room instead of a Tower room for a change this week. Despite the room being smaller I still would definitely recommend it when the Landmark rooms are cheaper than the Tower (which is most of the time).
I stayed here during a birthday trip to San Francisco. The staff and concierge service were wonderful. The room service was also great! I had a room with a nice view, but unfortunately I broke my phone while on vacation so I don't have any photos. The entire hotel is gorgeous! I definitely recommend this location.
Stunning hotel with beautiful details, clean, friendly staff and excellent food. Location is ideal for a tourist that wants to be in the heart of shopping and close to many food options and the trolley.
