Great location and a beautiful old hotel. The gym is well equipped, the restaurants have great dining options and the rates were reasonable. However the hotel is a little dated and could use an upgrade.

When we arrived to our room there were no robes, no mini bar, and the bed looked like it hadn't been made. The next morning when we took a shower the bath tube wasn't draining. It was a disaster! When we made a request to have the bath tub fixed they failed to do that as well.

Did not stay here, attended a gala. Very expensive valet parking, will park across the street at union square garage next time. Beautiful ballroom, fabulous servers, this was good, what you'd expect. The vegetarian options didn't blow me away, but solid.

Love the history of this place! Absolutely fantastic staff and the rooms are nicely updated and modern, while the public spaces have been preserved of the history while being well-maintained. Great for an overnight stay and/or professional event. This facility can handle thousands of people for an event - don't be fooled by its apparent size, at street level!

Very friendly staff, checkin & check out was easy, well maintaned hotel and the location is just fantastic. Only downside, depending on which level you stay on, you may only see the back of a building. If views are not a concern and you want somewhere nice to stay. This place is great.

Well this hotel is certainly central in San Francisco. Which is a little bit of a downside as the main entrance is on Powell so getting picked up and dropped off is a little bit of a hassle for drivers. Once arrived at the hotel, checkin was quick and friendly. Because of my gold status they offered me SO many bottles of water. I was upgraded to a room in the historic building which was very nice. Very large space for just a regular room. Bed was very large and comfortable. I will say there were maybe a few too many blankets, especially now that we're going into summer. The TV lets you log into your own Netflix account so that was great as the channel selection wasn't fabulous. The water pressure of the shower was a little low but no issue getting washed in the morning.
Overall I had no issues with the hotel. I would love to return again, and very likely will.

Nice stay for 5 nights. Location cannot be better if you prefer to stay at the heart of the city. Good restaurants are around. Rooms are big. Food was excellent !! The only minus point is it's service for the price dont match that of the Marriott's, which is just stone threw distance from Westin. I would prefer Marriott over it on my next visit to SFO.

The service was pretty good considering how busy the place was in black friday, though by no means fast. The lounge was clean, but there were no tables to accomidate out party and all of our chairs were different heights. That being said, the signature drink was wonderful, and the appetizers were very tasty. I would give them another chance in the future.

I love the history and the location of this hotel. I feel the service was somewhat lacking though. I was checking in after midnight due to a late flight but there was nobody working at the front desk and I had to wait a few minutes for someone to show up to check me in. I had requested a suite upgrade and had a nice room. High ceilings, chandelier lighting, comfortable Westin bed. All the standard amenities. Good amount of power outlets for everything. Hallway noise does leak in a bit so ask for rooms away from heavily trafficed areas.

Stopped in for a bite and a drink, but most importantly, for a quiet space to think and make some calls. In a world where there is always too much noise, I can always count on a Westin to give me a bit of respite with good food and excellent service.

Great service. Location is a bit rough, particularly at night, but if you have the cash and you want to be where activity is then the Union square area is the place to be hotel wise because the embarcadero dies during non business hours.

The room was clean, and staff are very friendly. I went for Dreamforce and it was great. I had some minor problems with the reservation that they were unwilling to yeild on. Location is great.

Beautiful hotel however with poor warmth insulation: single glass and 10cm thin walls that hardly resist any cold requires the visitor to heat it needles while a strong draft can be felt in the room

Room was nice. Amenities had a lot to be desired. Basic gym and Breakfast was $50 for ok buffet and $7.50 for a coffee??? Wow. A friend of mine sat down for breakfast but wasn't eating. He had a cup of coffee from my pot and they added $7. Really?? Room service was grossly overpriced and average food st best.

We were here for my best friends 40th Birthday and I must say that Michael the valet/door man was the highlight of our visit from arrival to departure he made us feel like we were the only guest in the hotel that matters. He remember it was her birthday. Had recommendations, remember where we went and followed up to see how everything went. Thank you Michael for helping to make this birthday special by just simply doing what you do best. #worldClassService

This is a high class hotel with quiet rooms, professional and courteous staff.

The room includes a mini-fridge, a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee, a nice TV, clean bathroom, and a nice desktop work area - no complaints on the Wi-Fi either.

The view from my room kinda sucked, but I'm ok with that, not a huge deal.

They have an awesome concierge staff who were able to point me in the right direction toward the cables cars that run down to the waterfront.
They even knew the cost and that is was cash only. Thanks for providing me with this info Ms. Concierge!

Location - smack dab in the middle of the business district and right in front of a cable car pickup and drop off spot. It's seriously convenient if you don't have a car on your trip. It's a short walk to many places, and a short cable car ride to others.

The ONLY reason they lose a star is for their lack of dining options. There is no "real" restaurant open for dinner. The Oak Room Restaurant closes each day at 2pm. The Clock Bar advertises as being open until 2am, but they closed at 10pm each and every day I was there. They have limited menu items - it's more of a bar than a restaurant. Caruso's is open until 8p or 9p, depending on the night of the week. But their food options are mostly pre-packaged items. It seems more like a coffee/sandwich shop than a restaurant.

Check your windows to make sure they seal properly before unpacking. One of mine didn't, so the chilly San Fran air came in to freeze me out each night.

All in all, I was satisfied with my stay, and I would recommend it to anyone. Just count on eating and drinking elsewhere.

Stayed there for a few nights and one of the best hotels to experience SF at its best. It's in the heart of the union Square, fab service and excellent rooms. Quantity bar called clock bar and a restaurant tucked away called oak room. Must visit.

I always stay here when I come to SF! Love the Heavenly bed, shower and the smell of their shampoo/conditioner and lotion!! The location is literally right on Union Square, so it's in the middle of everything. Only a short distance to Chinatown, and if you don't mind walking a little, it's not too far from the Ferry boat house or Fisherman's wharf!! Wouldn't stay anywhere else!!

My room was on the south side of the building on a low floor and the street noise was terrible. I was also charged for items I did not use from the minibar. Otherwise a very comfortable and beautiful old hotel.

Great staff, location, fast elevators, and pretty lobby. Sadly, small beds and too-soft pillows with no neck support. Bad pull out bed from the couch and itchy towell-like fabric when asking for an extra blanket.
